I usually just troll the boards, and saw a bit about this mentioned in the Rogue BC talents thread, but I thought it deserved it's own thread to examine it further.
The object of our studies: New Rogue Talent "Combat Potency" - * Where Blade Twisting was. 5 ranks that "Gives your successful off-hand melee attacks a 20% chance to generate 3/6/9/12/15 Energy." Now, what I am trying to find out here is, assuming you keep all your current gear but take it to level 70. How much of a DPS increase is this talent? I know my math is very rough, and I didn't include anything on misses/dodge/parry/glancing blows, but these are some of the numbers I got just for the number of procs in a 3 minute fight. DFB 1.8 Speed Swings in 600 seconds : 333.33 Swings in 600 seconds w/ SnD: 433 Procs in 600 Seconds : 86.6 Energy Gained : 1290 Extra BS from Energy: 21.5 Extra SS from Energy: 32.25 Extra Hemo from Energy: 36.857 Warblade of the Hakkari 1.7 Speed Swings in 600 seconds : 352.9411 Swings in 600 seconds w/ SnD: 458 Procs in 600 Seconds : 91.6 Energy Gained : 1365 Extra BS from Energy: 22.75 Extra SS from Energy: 34.125 Extra Hemo from Energy: 39 Core Hound Tooth 1.6 Speed Swings in 600 seconds : 375 Swings in 600 seconds w/ SnD: 487 Procs in 600 Seconds : 97.5 Energy Gained : 1455 Extra BS from Energy: 24.25 Extra SS from Energy: 36.375 Extra Hemo from Energy: 41.571 and of course Julies Dagger 1.3 Speed Swings in 600 seconds : 461.5384 Swings in 600 seconds w/ SnD: 600 Procs in 600 Seconds : 120 Energy Gained : 1800 Extra BS from Energy: 30 Extra SS from Energy: 45 Extra Hemo from Energy: 51.428 What I propose is that someone who is a lot better than me makes a "standard equipment set" and do the actual match to see the exact numbers for how much the extra energy boosts you. I'm also interested in seeing how much of a difference there is in between something with bad dps, but excellent speed, verses something that has better dps but is a bit slower. How much dps is worth losing for each .1 sec of swing speed? Also I'm interested in seeing the math comparing this new talent to the potential DPS of Mutilate if anyone can figure the math out on that one. I'll cut them out later when I'm not so tired.* **Also I realize this doesn't take into effect DR, +hit, etc. Hopefully someone else can toss those in when they do the standard armor set calculations** ***Standard Armor 8/8 BF.
