If you go to
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/mage/ , one of the classic weaknesses of the mage is the inability to heal. With BC and the arrival of the Draenai mage, this weakness is removed. I currently have a Tier2-equipped mage, but I'm giving serious thought to re-rolling as Draenai simply for the ability to heal.
According to wowwiki, here's what we know of the Draenai heal (the stats come from a blue response on this long ago).
Blessing of the Naaru
Activate to heal your target for 10 + 3 * level every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. 1.5 second cast time and 3 minute cooldown.
(At level 1 it heals 65 health, and heals 1100 at level 70)
Currently, fully buffed in raid, my mage has around 4300 hit points. Stamina is much more plentiful in BC. Does anyone have any idea how many hit points a level 70 mage will have in BC? I know the cap hasn't hit 70 yet, but can we venture a reasonable estimate based on what we've seen of BC gear and hp scaling thus far?
Theorycraft is not my forte, maybe someone else can crunch the numbers. Assuming a 70 mage has around 5000 hp, if Blessing of Naaru heals for 1100, if you factor in +damage/healing gear, how much of your hit points would this ability restore (1.5 sec cast, +700 spell damage/healing)? If this racial restores 1/4 of your total hit points... between that and bandages, it would eliminate a lot of downtime and provide a solid amount of healing for a solo mage. In a raid environment, in theory, it could be the difference between a wipe or not... that one extra HOT from an unexpected source when most of the group is dead. With smaller raid groups, this scenario becomes much more plausible. Thoughts?
