Never said they were all great, but I'll say that
The Guile being a one hander will be nice as soon as they get a better 1 hand enchant than +15 agi.
an agility version of potency (+20 strength)
AGI STA INT HIT CRIT AP
Sonic Spear with Savagery 35 30 24 132
AGI STA INT HIT CRIT AP
Guile of Khoraazi +20 Agi 44 50
Dirge +20 Agi 20 20 40
Dirge is a BS BOE.
So
154AP and a 1.90+ crit is good for a glass cannon setup.
As for guns, I think everyone will end up using the scale of the sands ammo long term anyway, and I'm still holding out hope for a thorium-bullet/thorium-ammo trade-in.

Anyways, I had engineering ever since I bought this game. At this point I'm keeping it because I like the Gadget/Toshley ports. Playing a holy paladin I'm not missing anything from BS at all - only craftable upgrade there is a world drop epic pattern bracer with insane material cost. And besides the bracers are boe I could just pay someone to make it. Only thing I'm missing is Alchemist's Stone. I must admit I'd be mad to not drop it for tailoring if I was cloth.

I prefer the term treasure hunting

Awesome web team joke that zings all the people that were down on the hard work they put in on the Armory.

Also worth noting is that you can see it when you hover over Dried Mushrooms. McKenna's Heroic Dose, perhaps?

# A recipe for "Frost Grenades" and the "Icy Blasting Primers" needed to make them are now on engineering trainers.
# Engineering recipes can now be placed in engineering bags, as can engineer made fireworks.
# Many engineering recipes will now give skillups for longer than the previously did.
# "Seaforium" now opens locked chests as well as locked doors
# The Poultryizer and Nigh Invulnerability Belt now cause mishaps less often.
# The Goblin Rocket Launcher cooldown has been reduced significantly.
# 11 new epic goggles have been introduced at 350 engineering skill and are available from the trainer. They range from cloth to plate, and have a variety of stats to appeal to most talent specs.
|
Not very exciting without seeing specifics. I was expecting a little more - Blizzard's "previews" are usually very well done.

The goggles could be worse than blues or absolutely awesome like the tailoring caster epics.
The hope is in the quantity, "11." It definately inspires hope that they'll actually build an item for each spec:
plate: dps warrior, tank, healing, (pally spell dmg)
mail: hunter/enhancement, healer, elemental
leather: rogue, feral, moonkin, healer?
cloth: healer, caster
That's 12-13, but it seems like they could satisfy almost everyone. Assuming a healer/caster wouldn't mind downgrading one armor class.

Champion, Elder, Bandit, Beast, Prophet, Physician, Nightmare, Vision, Mind, Invoker, Sorceror?
(Hopefully not. People would tip servers over.)

Unless they are upgradeable like smithing weapons I fear the helms will be limited outpaced by pve/pvp quickly and thus suck

Tipping them over would only be the first step so that the violation to follow could be sufficiently thorough.
That said, I'm hoping the engineering hats go beyond "we gave you each different stats." Something along the lines of integrating a trinket into the hat (See: Bulwark of Kings) to make them different and useful.

If the cloth goggles follow the Arena and honor gear precident, there will be a spell crit heavy version along with a pure +damage version.

Maybe I'm just happy to get something, but I'm looking forward to a craftable plate helm that is potentially useful. I expect more, but it's something to look forward to.

One thing to note is that the current epic googles are 375, and they are worse than instance drops. The new epics they are adding are 350 and trainer learned, so they won't be raid quality. Other than that, a new grenade, wow. I never had much hope for the revamp but I was waiting to see if I should finish leveling up my eng (because at 360 it costs me 120g for each skill point) but sadly right now I'm going the enchanting route which will prove more useful.

The tier 1 blacksmith BoP epics are skill 350. It will seem weird having a higher skill requirement for something worse, but it's possible. While there has been no word to suggest a possible tier 2 goggles (requiring primal nethers), I don't think it's completely out of the question.
