I will be looking forward to much raid content testing on beta now, I was already a little worried we wouldn't have enough time for some decent testing since we're not even allowed to level to 70 yet. Testing lvl 72 bosses only goes so far when you're lvl 67, no matter the gear.
I'm not playing much Live anymore so the new content patch doesn't bother me so; if however, they open up BE/Draenei zones and Jewelcrafting, I will definately try and get a headstart going.

Yeah, I think that would be fantastic if people could have their paladins/shamans ready at 60 when the expansion launches. The only problem is that the new races were specifically stated as things you could only create if you had the expansion and wouldn't have been in the patch had it been released together with the game.
|
They also said that it would be out before the end of the year 100% multiple times. I am hoping they see the benefit of allowing people to start leveling now and choose to take advantage of it.

Crossbones true. I felt it more likely that honour would be capped as well. And now it becomes almost neccessary to prevent farming large amounts of honour then grinding to 70 and immediately purchasing everything available.
Which is just another version of the get to rank 14 once and you should always be given the best items when they come out discussion but less extreme.

As a guildleader who was already tired of raiding and pushing my guild to farm to keep up naxx progress, I have no clue as how to find the energy to carry on for another three months. Should I recruit more people to keep the guild going, just so I have to kick them once 25 mans hit.. But even then I dont know how to keep up my own motivation, and how am I then supposed to keep the rest of the guild motivated? Extremely bad news.

Ugh, I'm really torn by this. On one hand, I'm happy to see Blizzard had the guts to tell Vivendi "No, we aren't ready yet." On the other hand, it's going to suck dealing with attendance problems due to info released about the beta for another 3 months.

The most progressed horde guild on our server had 8 people online last night during raid time, another had 17. We barely managed an AQ raid and still have huhu emps and razuvious to kill tonight (unlikely) or we miss them for the week. I wonder how much of a difference this new release date will make to this, I hazard a guess at 'not much'.
But hey at least I can get my mage to 60 well before TBC and maybe get a bit of gear rather than jumping into the expansion with greens.

Actually, if they uncap the BEs and whatever the hell that alliance race is, then this might be masterfully smart. I doubt they will (they are still a selling point I guess) but man would that make life easier!

Ouch. I knew we were having a lot of problems lately (the multiple disbands and renamings probably aren't helping us out much, mind), but i didn't realise you and Validus were so badly off as well :(
I'm really not looking forwards to trying to hold the guild together until January now - it was looking shaky enough with a November release, but now we have to get through another two months?

If they uncap BE's and Draneis this will actually be sweet.
The people grinding Naxx will get a boost with Pallys and Shamans and they'll get more ppl into expansion content early.
I doubt theyr that smart tho.

I highly doubt they're going to let people play expansion races prior to release - that's a very major selling point of the expansion. Infact it's pretty silly to even suggest speculation like that.

How about : You can purchase half of the game, which gives you Blood Elf and Draenei access now, and you can buy the Outlands half later. Both are done online.

Fuck that, let everyone who pre-ordered BC to start leveling a Draenei/Blood Elf to 60. They have no excuse to force people to level Draenei/Blood Elves from scratch at BC release, since they have so much time to tune raid instances now they don't need the 1 month window of people leveling from 1-70 and getting kitted out for raiding. People won't be buying the expansion just to play the new races, how many people are actually rerolling their character to Draenei/Blood Elf?
No, if you shove the new 41 point talent trees into everyone's lap and say "Hey, you could have 10 more points, plus Outland with its crazy gear and the Arena system, if you buy the expansion", that's the real selling point.

That I could see. Some type of pre-order code allowing you to play your Draenei or BE to 60 prior to expansion release. I also wonder how strong of a selling point that would be, I'd think fairly huge. I bet they would get tons of extra pre-orders if this was possible.

Probably quite a few? There are at least two people in Conquest that plan to level shaman and ultimately switch to them as their new mains. I'm sure it's the same for horde guilds as well - at least two of their shaman or whatever plan to level paladins, etc. Altaholics? You bet. They would kill to get access to a new race to level alts as - especially alliance players that want alliance shaman alts. Let's not forget, the majority of their playerbase is not a hardcore min-max raider that won't be rerolling to a new race.

Since they're saying they're adding the new pvp system I'm guessing we'll be able to save up honor points for when TBC hits - enabling us to get honor blues once we hit level 70.
I know that would get me back to pvp'ing atleast ;)
If not, then I guess I'll just have to sit on my hands for another couple of months seeing my guild tearing itself apart.

Or just Freeze the chars come release if you don't have the expansion-pack.
A preview of content isn't a bad thing in a MMORPG when the devs can take it away at any time.
Give BE's and Draneis! :)

This gives us another 2-3 months of this utter bullshit and another 2-3 months of guilds falling apart.
I'm actually sad they lifted the NDA... Then we wouldnt know what was coming and we could raid along alot better imho.
Well well, time to adapt AGAIN :/

I have a hard time seeing drawbacks allowing people to play BE's and Draenei.
Either that person just wanted to play the starting zones and thats it, or for some reason they don't like the new zones (highly doubtful considering how polished they both are). It would be as easy as allowing everyone to play them now, and simply locking your character at release if you don't have the expansion.
Give people a taste, just enough to really want them to keep playing, plus you get some last extra mileage out of your existing content and keep people who want to quit till release subscribed.

I agree with Eej.
Personally I'm super excited about TBC, to the point of going to silly lengths to get a Beta key, but I'm not planning on rerolling at all except maybe a low level alt for a laugh. For me it's all about the 60-70, I've got god knows how many 60s already, and it's going to be enough of a job getting them to 70.
Why not just cap BE/Draenei out at lvl 60 unless you order TBC? That seems enough of a motivation to me - at the end of the day noone is going to want to stand still at 60 when there is so much great gear out there in Outlands. And that's not even looking at the raid game.
