What they're telling us is now to be competitive, you NEED to lower your +dmg by a lot to gain back your crit rate and increase hp as other classes have, yet I see no such downgrades for melees.
It does change with sockets, and I know there's a +7 dmg one. But really wasn't the socket system supposed to allow customization? Are we gonna be surprised when a majority of PvE mages are going to have every single socket slot filled up with the exact same gem just to gain back the +dmg they had at 60?

You're starting to compare Naxx gear to quest/5man, like I said earlier please wait for Karazhan to do stuff like that. Compare raid gear to raid gear, not to pvp gear/questing gear..... From what I've seen the only things that are really repalcing raid gear is for offspecs and Rogues. Rogues because of them allowing agil and +ap to be on the same item again.
As for your "yet I see no such downgrades for melees" comment please compare the current epic pvp set for warriors against the level 70 gladiators set for them. The grass is always greener on the other side isn't it... ?
btw you can get a +12dmg gem, +10 spell crit rating gem and +6dmg and +5 crit rating.
