Viscidus's aggro wipe on reforming is an AoE effect (100yd). If the tank is outside the room when he reforms, he retains full aggro. The tank runs out when Viscidus freezes, and runs back in when he reforms. We have shamans (nerf Horde etc. etc.) so keeping up with the full raid's poison removal isn't hard. Warriors use weapons like Cobalt Crusher or Iceblade Hacker, rogues dual-wield two frost proc weapons with Frost Oil ideally, and some hunters have Hurricane, and everyone else uses frost wands. Viscidus freezes in about 25 seconds after volleying a total of twice. The tank runs out, we kill 6 globs (100-->69-->39-->9), then the tank runs back in and repositions him after he reforms.

We don't even bother having the tank run out. As long as the tank is standing right there at the reform point with a shield slam/etc ready to go, and priests aren't dumb and PoH less than 10 seconds in (and honestly, they should have topped their groups off during the shatter) then there's absolutely no way that anyone is pulling aggro.

I think we end up with 2 or 3 volleys, not including the one sometimes he does upon shattering. Pretty trivial to heal through, most the time I don't even have to use a mana pot anymore. I found downranking PoH to conserve mana helps a ton here.

Feel free to mock me :)

We killed Kel'Thuzad on the 26th of September, and we still haven't killed Viscidus. We simply can't.

I think it's a combination of him being quite difficult, and us sucking arse and being very, very scared of him.

(Well we did kill him that one week where he was bugged and reformed with 1% HP after first shatter.)

Have you tried him recently? They nerfed the hell out of him in 1.12. The fix to Rain of Fire and Blizzard and such also affects his Toxin -- you have to be mentally handicapped to take Toxin damage now. Without that, everything is entirely controllable.

We kill viscidus most AQ clears. Its a fairly setup intensive encounter, but since some of these exists in Naxx we have a suitable roster to have a decent setup almost all the time for our AQ raids (with some exceptions with lack of priests, in which case we wont bother). We have 6 groups in and 2 melee groups that join in for freeze and split phases.

As for is he worth it? His loot is actually very good, 2nd best to C'thun in the instance. We got the druid idol on our first kill but no more since then and our druids are really dying for it. Its potential in the expansion could be interesting as it will always be the same at every level. The priest trinket is also quite simply awesome for AoE trash/encounters and loatheb, but again we only got one of those so far. Like the druid idol it has good potential in the expansion. Majority of drops have been femurs and the Qiraji fury ring.

I don't mind visc, but the fact of getting a full balanced AQ40 raid willing to do AQ40 itself, let alone visc, as alliance using lesser NR pots, is tough, considering most alliance I've spoken with use a dps running out strat.

What really screws alliance over, not sure abot horde because of your faster depoisoning, is the spits after he freezes and is turning into globs. =|

Uh his Toxin was not the issue for Alliance its the poison bolt volley. I mean I can only get away without using mana potions myself because I'm geared to the teeth.

Its also the fight we normally wipe the most on during a week which is pretty pitiful considering its slightly better than MC loot what he drops.

I need to do something useless.

Right, I realize the poison is the issue, but in my experience what made attempts go south was having a key healer get a toxin dropped on him and be unable to get out in time, and then suddenly the whole group is screwed. The fight is obviously much harder for Alliance than for Horde, and is probably the most faction-imbalanced fight in the game, but it did get easier with the last patch, regardless who you are. Take toxin out of the picture and you're left with entirely predictable steady damage to your raid as a whole. Like Sapphiron without the Blizzard or curse.

We've never really bothered with Viscidus as an alliance guild. We killed him once for the server-first and completion factors. While we tend to run Paladin and Druid heavy, the loot is so subpar at this point (even Femurs would be alt/DE food since we've had absurd luck with Wraith Blades), that it's not worth the time investment for us. The only Viscidus drops that would be claimed by anyone would be the druid relic and the healer trinket, and both of those would be situational I believe.

We'd rather just skip the optional stuff and head straight for C'Thun (insert obvious Overrated jab here).
