Nostromo Speed Pad. My roomate has one, and it is like the coolest thing ever.
You can program around a hundred action to it if I'm not mistaken.
EDIT: WOW I am an idiot. But seirously, how can you not use the speedpad to make all that stuff work. My buddy is a paladin and they have an insane number of seals, buffs, everything, and he has all that stuff bound to that pad. If I'm not mistaken he has different bindings for healing and for pvp, so I'm sure you can work around the stance changes.

I've heard of some people rebinding WASD to like TFGH. It certainly frees up a lot of space to the left of your left hand if you do that. I haven't the willpower to rebind everything, though, maybe a brave soul could try it out.

I use the numpad buttons in PvE, and in PvP I have major actions bound to my mouse buttons (5 button mouse) and meta-mouse, and move one of my hands to the numpad or the alternate binds (number row) for anything not mouse bound (typically Sprint/Evasion/Blind; AR/BF are bound to left hand keys anyway).

Rogue: Mouse does everything but cooldowns*, those are all bound 1-6/shift-1-6. Consumables are macroed to ctrl-key for HP pots/bandages, and the spare keys from s+1-6 are for things I need like HS, etc.
*I mean it.
- L/R default binds for camera, etc
- Middle click = SS
- Thumb = gouge
- ctrl-thumb = kick
- alt-thumb = feint
- shift-thumb = riposte
- ctrl/alt/shift-thumb = stealth
- ctrl/shift-thumb = blind
- ring finger = Evisc
- shift-ring = KS
- ctrl-ring = Rupture
- alt-ring = SnD
I quite honestly can't figure out how anyone can both move with WASD/ESDF and use the number keys to do abilities like BS, etc at the same time. My hands just won't. I blame playing way too much Tribes way back when.
Priest: Eeh. Heals on 1-6, damage on shift-1-6, and I just use the mouse to steer. PVE healbots that don't raid don't need twitch ability.

ESDF to move, all surrounding keys bound to something useful. Q and W open sprocket menus to drop totems, A decurses, G assists, R auto-runs, ZXC trigger other useful abilities like stance swaps and trinkets. Number keys are for things that I can take a half a second to reach out to hit. Extremely important abilities like Frost Nova or Execute are bound to the extra mouse buttons.

This is slightly off-topic, but I'm wondering is there a mod for mousewheel stance switching? I mean not everyone has a tilt mousewheel after all. I was thinking something like cycling stances with your mousewheel (so say, when you're in Battle and you scroll down, you get Defensive, but if you scroll up you get Zerker.)
In any case, as a Hunter, I have a lot more freedom with my keybindings because most of my big skills require me to be standing still to use them.
` - Rapid Fire + Berserking + Aimed Shot macro
1 - Hunter's Mark
2 - Autoshot
3 - Raptor Strike
4 - Wingclip
5 - Scatter Shot
6 - Trueshot Aura (Counterattack used to be here, so ya :<)
Q - Flare
E - Deterrence/Tranq Shot, depends on PvP or PvE
R - Renataki/Distracting Shot, depends on PvP or PvE
G - Grenade
V - Mount/Dismount
Shift+W - Feign Death
Shift+E - Freezing Trap
Shift+R - Frost Trap
Shift+T - Immolation Trap
Shift+5 - Bandage
Ctrl-1 - Multishot
Ctrl-2 - Arcane Shot
Ctrl-3 - Aimed Shot
Ctrl-4 - Serpent Sting
Ctrl-5 - Viper Sting
Ctrl-6 - Concussive Shot
Ctrl-T - Scorpid Sting
Alt-1 - Aspect of the Monkey
Alt-2 - Aspect of the Hawk
Alt-3 - Aspect of the Cheetah
Alt-4 - Aspect of the Pack
Alt-5 - Aspect of the Wild
Basically, my left wrist sits on the keyboard the entire time I'm playing WoW. :P

Eej, try something along the lines of this to get mousewheel stance switching, no mod required:
You need 2 slots on a bar that switches contents by stance (whether it be your main bar, a Discord or Bongos bar setup to switch with stance, whatever). Bind Slot 1 to wheelup, and Slot 2 to wheeldown.
Def bar: 1, battle, 2, zerk
Battle bar: 1, zerk, 2, def.
Zerk bar: 1, def, 2, battle
Think of it as a ring and up/down moves you up or down the ring (moving up from the top reentering at the bottom.)

I use the wolfpad keyboard and it took a little bit to figure out what I was doing with it but now I couldn't play without it. edit to say: I am a female and my hands are a little small for the wolfpad.. I have the older version without the Fkeys but I find the 1-6 keys kinda unusable by me because of how far I have to reach
B - scorch
B + shift - Fireball
N - pyroblast
N +shift - rank 1FB
O - CoC
O + shift -Blastwave
T - Arcane Explosion
T + Shift - AErank1
F ranged (always on all chars)
E - Frostnova
C - Fireblast
Q - Sheep
Z - counterspell
tab - blizzard
K - Mount
. - Next target
. + shift - trinket
mouse
mouse button1 - iceblock
mouse button2 - cold snap
middle mouse click - blink

I think the major thing about key bindings isn't necessarily their location, or how many/how convulted they are, but rather using them for a long enough period of time, and basically imprinting them into your brain. For example, I've played 2 hunters to 60 on different servers since basically release a year and a half ago. Shift + 5 is feign death for me. Always has been, and honestly I do it so reflexively now that if I put something else there I get confused. I've been using WSAD for so long I dread trying to switch, and when I do try I end up strafing a lot because my hand just naturally rests on WSAD now. The best adive anyone can give on keybindings is make a set of them and just keep using it until it's ingrained in your muscle memory.

Yes you can, but only if you initiate the stance change using the n52 to begin with. You would do it by using the three shifts states available on the n52; red, green and blue. You can assign a shift state key to perform a function in WoW in addition to its native function. So when you push the shift state key, it would remap the keys of the n52 to a user preset key layout specific to that particular state and in addition, push the button in WoW that makes you change stance.
Hopefully I made sense. If you need examples or a more thorough explanation, pm me and I can go in to more detail. The user manual has a great explanation of the shift states too.

Yea, i had to dust off the n52...but i think i came up with a pretty decent button config in my Real Estate Investment class today (my parents must be so proud...)...luckily the majority of my bindings share the same buttons across all 3 stances so that is making the transition alot easier. I bought a Wolfpad keyboard cause it looked badass (back when i played CS)...never got into it though...then again i fear change ;[

I have three levels of hotbars.
1 - multipurpose button, I switch tranq, rank1 arcane, and distracting shot in here depending on what I am doing.
2 - scattershot
3 - max rank multi
4 - max rank aimed
5 - feign death
thumb 1 - autorun
thumb 2 - hunter's mark
t - aspect of the cheetah/pack
y - aspect of the hawk
f - mount / dismount
alt+1 - autoshot
alt+2 - serpent sting
alt+3 - rank 1 multi
alt+4 - rank 1 aimed
alt+5 - viper sting
shift+1 - raptor strike
shift+2 - mongoose bite
shift+3 - rank 1 wingclip or max rank wingclip depending on what I am doing
shift+4 - trinket or item if I have one (such as chromaggus sand)
shift+5 - deterrence
For feign trap I just click. I always have, never got out of it. Most other abilities I click for.

I currently only move with my mouse, and keep my strafe buttons bound to a and d. Not only did this break me off of backpedaling, this also freed up about 4 buttons for keybinding, which means I have about 12 more abilities easily within my grasp with alt +, shift + and control + the unbound keys.
A problem for hunters and keybindings is that we have a ridiculous amount of abilities to key if you want to break off of clicking. So about a month or two ago, I decided to key everything I could and to hide all of my abilities on my UI, freeing up space on my monitor and allowing me to have more control over my character. I bound all of my tracking abilities and professions to my numpad, and decided to use F1-F5 for aspects, and Shift-F1 - Shift-F5 for my pet abilities, while keeping my combat abilities I often use with 1-6 ` q w e s z x c with shift/control/alt + variants for these. It may seem a little unnecessary to some to go to such an extent, and I thought it was a little silly itself, but once you break yourself off clicking and have your bindings memorized by heart, your reactions will be much quicker, and your control over your character's movements will be much smoother. I never really noticed how detrimental it is to have only some abilities bound, but once I watched some pvp videos with people clicking their aspects and backpedaling, I realized how inefficient it is. Some people will probably scoff at my post, but I'm a min-maxer at heart, and it doesn't hurt to change up your gameplay to make yourself a better player.
The main problem I'm experiencing right now with my reformed gameplay is targeting. I still have to click people at range as tab targeting is broken right now, and doesn't seem to target anything more than 25-30ish yards away. But I make due with what I have, and just hope blizzard decides to fix tab.

So i asked a friend that has same mouse, cause i ve been looking long time for a mouse with many keys/functions on an never found something better than mx-5xx and was surpised that mx-1000 can do all that.
He said wheel tilt and button up/down dont work for him. Do you need to install some specific drivers? And i can understand mousewheel button down, but how can you make it go up too?:D (i dont own the mouse so might be missing something here)

Cool, someone else with an N52; I had to rebuild my bar setup from the ground up to get it just like I wanted it but it seems to work pretty well now that I'm used to the config. Hope this ends up helping out a bit, even if it sidesteps some of the features on your G15:
I went through a couple of different phases right after getting my N52:
-Set up primary as if it were a standard keyboard (with 4 movement keys present in the center), but then you can't move in any of the alt modes which got me killed quite a lot in pvp.
-Set up all modes just for hotbar buttons. This was worse because I could never get used to moving with the DPad.
-Set up primary and alternate modes so that all but one, extremely rarely used, mode have directional keys. Use the D Pad to select the alt mode (Red & Green) as well as jump & autorun and use the orange button to select the rarely used, Blue, mode since it's a pain to actually use (it's stiff as hell on mine). I use the wheel for one or two toggleable abilities that dont so much require precise use so much as ease of access w/o hunting for them elsewhere (such as enrage, dash, tranquility, hurricane, & Divine Favor).
The third is what I'm still running with and making a custom bar setup with Discord really, really helped with the learning curve since I could see where the skills were without having to hunt & peck. You basically end up with 3x the following layout:
[q][w][e][r][t]
[a][s][d][f][g]
[z][x][c][v]
................[space]
With Discord, I have the primary 'bar' set up to change on form switch but the secondary bars remain static (besides, I was running low on buttons in discord anyway). Stance swaps are identical in function to switching forms or pally auras and can be detected by Discord without any issues. Since I found that setting up the 'bars' on screen in the same layout as they actually are on the pad itself, I ended up making three bar setups with a esdf 'hole' in the middle since I was using those keys to move with. It looked something like this ([..] buttons are empty and hidden by discord based on bar-specific button show/hide settings):
[q][w][..][r][t]
[a][..][..][..][g]
[z][x][c][v]
After that, it just took some trial/error to figure out what the most important skills were and I placed them on the [w], [r], and [a] keys ([q] and [t] got the next most important buttons). The bottom row is reserved for Druid forms, Pally auras, & Warrior stances. Bear, Cat, Travel, & Aquatic (in that order), Devo, Ret, Conc, & $Resist (I made it cycle!) auras, and... Battle, Defensive stances (don't have 'zerk yet).
|
I am not your personal Frost Deathknight knowledge base. If you have a simple question, ask in the simple questions thread; if you have a more esoteric, specific, or complicated question, ask in the spec-appropriate thread.
My PM, WoWmail, and, especially, chat boxes are NOT the appropriate places for these questions.

nah, nothing special...just the software that came with the mouse. You just set the mouse to a keystroke assignment rather than its normal function. so for example...the Scroll Wheel Tilt Right is actually hitting my f2 key and the Scroll Wheel Tilt Left is hitting my Backspace key.

esdf movement keys.
a- attack shift-a pet attack
q,w,r,t,g,z,x,c,v,b,5,6 hot keys 1-12.
shift q,w... hotkeys for top left bar.
alt q,w... hotkeys for top right bar.
mousebutton 4 is assist.
mousebutton 5 is stance with alt/shift modifiers Or pet abiilties if a pet class.
4 Decursive
3 target nearest NPC
2 target previous NPC
shift 1,2,3,4,5,6 changes bar.
And that is pretty much all I use as far as hotkeys go. Only think I click on are mana pots. Everything else is hotkeyed.
