number keys suck imo. i move with RDFG and the mouse. keybindings are:

w-counterspell
e-fireblast
t-cone of cold
y-blizzard
a-polymorph
s-arcane explosion(used to be AM before the mage talent revamp, ima full frost mage)
h-frost nova
z-blink
x-scorch
v-wand
b-lvl 1 frostbolt

middle wheel press=frostbolt
extra middle mouse=decurse
side mouse 1=zhc trinket(ToA for raid bosses)
side mouse 2=tab (although i usually click targets, i use both for best results)

i click everything else with flexbar buttons, with the most important ones closer to the middle of the screen for fast clicking, i.e. iceblock, ice barrier, etc.

i set things up this way so i had complete control over my movement and mouse targeting while being able to use my abilities on the fly. number keys are too clunky to use on the fly because you usually have to take your finder off 'foward'. reaction time hasnt been a concern in my gameplay for a while now.

The single biggest recommendation I can offer to anyone who wants to speed up their action bar usage is to rebind everything to the right of the 6 key. 7, 8, 9, 10, -, and = are simply too far to be convenient.

I use ESDF for movement, and have a ridiculous amount of keybinds for skills and macros (warlocks just have too many useful skills):

1-7 (7 is Curse of Doom, which I rarely ever use. It's the only reason I break my own rule)
shift+ 1-6
`, Q, A, Z, X, Capslock
Shift+`, Q, W, E, R, T, A, S, D, F, G, Z, X, C, Capslock, Spacebar

That's thirty-five keybinds all within easy reach of my left hand. I still have 16 other non-equipment skill buttons that I click that I don't consider critical enough to hotkey. Ventrilo Push-to-Talk is left Control, which I like far too much to part with (even though getting a whole new set of binds would be liberating). I also have an additional mouse button bound to a thirty-sixth hotkey.

It's overwhelming at first, but having everything at instant access is huge when time matters (see: PVP).

Also, a tip for the pet classes out there: use macros, and put them on hotbars. Don't click your pet commands, and (mostly for warlocks), try to avoid leaving everything on autocast. A warlock with full manual control of his pets with keybinds can accomplish a hell of a lot more than the one with his pet on autocast.

I play a rogue and often have to hold down one or two movement keys in combat, im curious how people can do all this shift/alt/ctrl clicking while moving and spamming ss/bs...

I move with rdfg, so in typical combat i can hold down r(middle finger) to move forward, spam sinister strike(little finger), that leaves ringfinger and index finger and none of those can reach neither shift/ctrl or alt... not to mention that both are needed in case i wanna strafe.

As a result i have bound tons of keys, but no "shift-binds", gonna be hard to find room for COS and Envenom in expansion...

Setup:
Movement: rdfg
3:garrote
4:sap
5:ks
6:snd

q:vanish
w:rupture
e:kick
t:gouge
y:unbound for whatever reason
u:feint

a: evasion
s: sinister strike
h: evisc
j: sprint
z:cs

mb1:select
mb2:attack
mb3(wheel): stealth
mb4: bf+bers
mb5: ar

All these can be reached without looking and it works great, tho the biggest difference was the day i bound vanish.

Still i have several abilities that i cannot bind cus ive run outta buttons, like: shoot bow, distract, bandage, mount, blind, pots tho i can live with that. One day i might try binding some of them too. (think ill wait for dub before i touch my settings/interface tho)

Alt-½ and up for shouts
T = Taunt
F = Charge/Intercept or switch stance if unavailable
R = Bloodrage
G = Shoot GUN (Err, crossbow)
F1, F2, F3 for the 3 stances (Dont Alt-map F4, it goes funny quick)

Strafing comes from holding the right mouse button which I pretty much always have pressed down.

what in the world? i have pretty big hands and ctrl-9 with pinky and index finger is actually painful.
Laptop keyboard (full size keys, but less space between them), Caps Lock remapped to Ctrl, and I'm hitting 9 with my thumb. With the normal left ctrl I can barely reach 9, and it's fairly painful to do so for more than a few seconds.
I can actually comfortably hit up to ctrl-0 that way, but it involves having to actually look at my keyboard and moving my left hand out of the normal position, both of which are inefficient. My hands are pretty large though (And have long fingers to go along with it).

I haven't yet used Shift + Ctrl combinations massively.

For my rogue my keybinds are (german keyboard layout)

Mousebutton 4 Stealth
MB 5 Kick

2 Sinister Strike
3 Backstab
4 Eviscerate

F4 Evasion
F5 Sprint
F6 Blind

(must have forgotten some...I haven't yet bound my consumables, I should do this though

Warlock Alt (again missing some)

MB 4 Fear
MB 5 Deathcoil

^ Shoot Wand

2 Curse of Agony
3 Immolate
4 Siphon Life
5 Searing Pain
R Shadowbolt

y Trinket

Shift 1 Drain Life
Shift 2 Drain Mana
Shift 3 Drain Soul
Shift 4 Health Funnel

I would like to bind more, but I was too lazy to put some thougt in it yet :D

But as you can see, I tend to bind my keys in such a way that similar spells are placed in proximity to each other. Keybinding the Warlock was pretty difficult for me and when using the curses I still tend to klick sometimes. I also need to keybind the pet bar again (I did this for my hunter some time ago).

I mostly revolve around the WASD setup as a Rogue.

1 SS
2 BS
3 Evis
4 Gouge
5 Kick
6 KS
S1 Cold Blood
S2 Stoneform
S3 Feint
S4 Primary Trinket (Usually my PvP trinket)
S5 SnD
S6 Mount
Z Evasion
X Sprint
C Vanish
V Blind

Leaving me to click on Rupture, Expose Armor, Tea, Bandages, Potions and Shoot, I suppose I could macro S+ Z X C V to finishers, tea and a bandage macro though. I also have girl hands so hitting 7 is actually uncomfortable with Shift so I just avoid mapping it altogether.

sz - rend
sx - mocking blow/zerk rage/mocking blow macro
sd - 30m cooldowns
g - pummel macro
x - execute
v - sunder
c - heroic strike
r - demo shout
sr - battle shout
sq - intim shout
st - bloodrage
s2 - piercing howl
s3 - challenging shout

a3 - trinket #1
a4 - stoneform
a5 - bandages
e - grenades
t - disarm macro
aw - sharpening stone
f1/f2/f3 - stances (I usually change to battle with overpower macro (4) and to zerk with pummel macro (g), tho)

S3: Doesnt this mean you cannot move right while feinting? (using pinky+index finger)
S2: What finger do u use on the 2-key?? Ring finger?(feels weird) Middle finger?(then u cannot move forward)

Incidentally none of these two examples i mentioned "requires" you to move while doing them, but the point still stands: Do you as a melee class sacrifice movement/melee-range-control for these superduper dualbutton binds?

My basic binds are

^ poison cleansing totem
1 grounding totem
2 chain lightning
3 lightning bolt
4 frost shock
5 flame shock
q earth shock
e lesser healing wave
r purge
t tremor
f earthbind
g fire nova
f1 trinket
f2 ghost wolf
f3 berzerking
f4 ns-heal
f5 ns (I should bind it somewhere closer but I am afraid of accidentally hitting it)
6-´ hold different ranks of raid heals (I use the mouse to move in raids, which probably explains why I seem to be slow at times)
backstace for SpellStopCasting()

Then a bunch of different totem binds, of which < and Y are my CoE drop/restart binds and thus the most interesting.

My hands are pretty small so I can barely stretch to "5" without losing moving capabilities and Ctrl+5 is the peak of discomfort anyway.

All my key bindings are fairly standard, one that I think is notable is binding distract to mouse3. It's really nice because you need the mouse to target and activate it, may as well leave the keyboard out of the process.

edit -- actually i have a spammable cooldown burning macro that I use, bound to my Y key

first press activates earthstrike and blood fury, hit it again activates blade flurry, hit it again activates adrenaline rush

When playing rogue I only use the keyboard for dealing damage, and the mouse if im lucky to win loot :)

move with the basic movement keys, have "F" for stealthing.

For the damage keys, i use the keypad. The reason for doing it was because i got an inflammation ( or how you spell it in english ) in the arm, and hey - couldnt live without wow for couple of weeks, so got to use the keypad. Probably boosted my DPS too, since you can have one arm for movement, and another for skilluse.

"But hey, where is your feint?" Rogues dont need faint - they have evasion.

When I installed this game I knew nothing about add-ons and there was just the one bar at the bottom of the screen. You would page through 6 different bars using shift-1 thru shift-6. How quaint! More than a year and a half later, I still use that system.

I loathe using the mouse, so I have everything keybound. I group spells on my 6 bars by situation. Bar 1 is shots, Bar 2 is melee + traps, Bar 3 is pet spells, Bar 4 is melee consumables and tracking, Bar 5 is out-of-combat consumables and professions, Bar 6 is buffs-- aspects and TSA. My most commonly hit spells I put on numbers 1-6 of each bar for easy access.

For example:

Bar 1:
` Distracting shot
1 Arcane
2 Serpent sting
3 auto-shot
4 Aimed
5 Multi-shot
6 Hunter's Mark
etc

Bar 2:
1 Scatter-shot
2 Feign
3 Freeze trap
4 wing clip
5 raptor
6 melee-attack
7 mongoose strike
etc

Bar 3:
2 call pet
3 feed pet macro
4 revive pet
etc

Bar 4:
1 situational protection potion, usually Greater Fire Prot
2 major health
3 superior mana
4 tuber
5 night dragons
6 thru = tracking

99% of the time, I move using the 4 arrow keys at the lower right of my keyboard. (I play on a laptop.) I use the Q and E keys for strafing. If I'm kiting, I use the W key to move forward and the mouse for changing direction. I have my instant shots within easy access of the W so that I can move and shoot at the same time. I don't pvp but if I did I guess I would also use the mouse there. Right now, outside of kiting, I don't use the mouse at all. If I need to interact with something on the screen, e.g. an NPC or loot, I use the touchpad on my laptop.

I like my setup because I have plenty of keys to keybind everything, and it's simple. And it's easy on the hands and wrists. If I had to use shift-click, alt-click, control-click and the mouse for everything I'd probably have awful RSI by now. I've had trouble with RSI in the past, so I am thankful that with my setup WoW doesn't give me any problems.

Of course the downside to this is that if I'm spacing out and have the wrong page bar up, random abilities get pressed. But that doesn't happen too often.

I am kinda weird in my set up (I play a warrior now, so dont say HEY HE IS LISTING WARRIOR ABILITIES NOT MAGE, WTF HE STUPID!!!) but here it is:

In stances of Battle (F1) / Def (F2) / Zerker (F3)

First Bar:
1: Charge / Taunt / Intercept
2: Overpower / Sunder / Whirlwind
3: Bloodthirst / Herioc / Bloodthirst
4: Execute / Revenge / Execute
5: Herioc / Sheild Block / Herioc
6: Death Wish / Disarm / Death Wish
Z: Mocking Blow / Sheild Bash / Pummel
`: Hamstring / Sheild Wall / Hamstring (Its the ~ key next to the 1)
G: BS / BS / BS

Second Bar
Ctrl 1: Bloodrage
Ctrl 2: Zerker Rage
Ctrl 3: Piercing Howl
Ctrl 4: Intim Shout
X: Demo Shout
Shift 2: Aoe Taunt
Tab: Cleave
Shift 1: Shoot Gun
Unbound: Recklessness (I click it, dont want to randomly fat finger it ~.~)

Edit:

Other weird hotkeys I have:
F - Autorun
T - Attack nearest Enemy
V - Assist Mob // Player

I have a 3rd bar, but its mainly consumables (pots, deviate fish, mining stuff, first aid) so I keep it all unbound.

I'm a Rogue and move with WASD

I have every key left of 6, Y, H, and N bound to 'combat actions' and the ones to the right of that to noncombat actions (map, spellbook, guild tab, etc).

Rogue cooldowns all have really long timers, so I don't want to accidentally waste one, so almost all of them involve the use of Shift to make it harder to screw up.
Abilities in ()'s are the ones that use shift

1 - eviscerate (shoot bow)
2 - sinister strike (blind)
3 - gouge (kidney shot)
4 - rupture or garrote while stealthed (cheap shot)
5 - expose armor
6 - assist main assist
q - riposte (distract)
e - kick (ambush)
f - assist (blade flurry)
g - feint
z - slice and dice (adrenaline rush)
x - backstab
v - sprint (mount)
b - vanish (evasion)
r - reply (sap)

Personally, I'm crazy about key bind, mostly because I'm very low in the dexterity department and swiftly moving the mouse cursor to a button and clicking it with accuracy is still at a threshold I fail quite often.

Some people move the standard WSAD over to the right on the keyboard to get access to more keys, but I never understood this, as the Shift key doubles the number of possible key binds. Personally, I find any key greater than 4 is such a bother to push that I can just use my mouse.

My most important two functions (PvP that is) are Battle and Berserk stance, which go on mouse wheel up and down. (Shift-Mouse wheel controls the camera.) Defensive stance is on Caps Lock. (It sucks, I know, but it really is a very convenient button to push.)
As a warrior I go as follows:

1: Execute / Disarm / Execute
Q: MS / Sunder / MS
2: Hamstring / Taunt / Hamstring
E: Overpower / Revenge / Whirlwind
3: Bloodrage
R: Piercing Howl
F: Mount / Heroic Strike / Berserk Rage
C: Charge / Shield Block / Intercept
X: Shield Bash / Shield Bash / Pummel
4: Sweeping Strikes / Sheild Wall / Mount
V: Shadowmeld
S-1: Mocking Blow
S-Q: Sunder
S-2: Rend
S-E: Intimidating Shout
S-3: Heroic Strike
S-R: Demo. Shout
S-F: Battle Shout
S-C: Thunderclap
S-X: Challenging Shout
S-4: Cleave
S-V: Slam

As you can see Retaliation is the only warrior skill to not have a keybind, so it just leaves that, trinkets and potions to mouse click. All my charcters use this set up, but I designed it with my warrior in mind.

I've used a Nostromo N52 for WoW'ing, and it never felt comfortable. Plus I had to do things twice - bind the key in Warcraft, then bind the key in the N52 Editor. I ended up ditching the N52 (I use it for work, oddly enough) and went with the Wolfking Warrior: http://wolfkingusa.com/prdts_wolfking.html

It's pretty compact, but still fits my large hand comfortably. It also didn't take very long to get the bindings set up, or learn where everything was - most keys are still right where you'd find them on the keyboard, just in a more convenient place. There are still some keys that will throw you for a loop of you try to play on your normal keyboard, but I found myself only reaching for that when I had something to actually type out.

Edit: To contribute, using the Wolfpad, I've got:

W, S - Forward and Backwards respectively
A, D - Strafe Left and Right respectively
Q - Multishot
E - Aimed Shot
T - Scattershot
R - Rapidfire
` - Autoshot macro; Marks the target, sends my pet in if I've got him out, and starts autoshot
1 - Melee macro; all Hunter melee attacks bound to one key
2 - Concussive Shot
3 - Viper Sting
4 - Volley
f - Feign Death/Trap macro
o - Open all bags
ctrl o - mount
b - Tranq shot
ctrl o - Distracting Shot
z - Aspect of the Hawk/Cheetah macro
x - Aspect of the Monkey/Cheetah macro

Those are the major ones; I've got most of my abilities hotkeyed in some form or another.

Yeah, found a little nifty addon shaped as a numpad found here :
http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/a...ctionbars.html

There is also another one here:
http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/a...ad_action.html

Really like using the keyboard for running around in instances hitting stuff so my arm dont get fsk'ed again :) Was a little hard when I rolled Priest tho, but works a charm for rogues :)

But kinda have actionbars hidden since i know my keys after 200 days played now anyways :)

This is the truth.

To contribute again:
I forgot about different pages. Shift+1-6 -- change page
2nd page is random trackings / aspects
3rd page is... traps and something, I think. Same as my sidebar, mostly clickage (except Trueshot Aura, which is Shift+3, 8).
4th page is pet stuff
1 - Feed
2 - Call
3 - Mend
4 - Res
5 - Mend (rank 1) for cleansing

Look, Lactose, we'd rather you didn't eradicate the whole human race.

I think i got pretty regular keybindings.
zqsd for movement.

a= mortal strike
e= execute
f= charge macro
r= whirlwind macro (checks if im berserker stance or not)
mousebutton4= overpowermacro
mousebutton5= cleave
mousebutton3= Hamstring
mwheel up= battleshout
mwheel down= demo shout
shift f= mount
shift r= insignia
shift d= rend
2= shoot

These binds change when i go to defstance (discord bars)

I always move around with mouse2 pressed for turning. I wanted to be able to use a lot of moves while moving (for pvp). So all is bound near my movement keys.
