I looked through about 14 pages of posts, and can't seem to find the pertinent topic, so I'll just make one up here.
Our guild had some troubles in the past (reformation, getting way behind the progress curve, the like), but we have just about got Nef on farm(told ya we're behind the curve) and have just dropped Sartura for the first time (Skeram was a pussy).
Like I said, we've downed Sartura, but was wondering if there were a better way from what we are doing. What worked for us was, rather than have everybody run around trying to DPS down all the Guards at the same time, we instead have all of our casters stand at max range on one guard, and have all of our rogues do a stunlock rotation on it while everybody else minus the tanks just beats the shit out of it to drop it as fast as possible, while one tank each is on the other two guards doing something or other that keeps them focused on themselves whenever they whirlwind (I'm not exactly sure what they do, but whenever they go whirlwind, they head immediately for the healers, the tank does something, and they head back to the tank) with one extra tank and our MT doing the same thing to Sartura as far away from the raid as possible. Doing this, we generally take a guard down every 20-30 seconds or so, and on our successful attempt only lost one rogue doing this to all three of the guards.
What we were wondering about improving on was Sartura herself. We get her down below 30% before she goes insane uber raid-wiping enrage (like 10 minutes or so) and what we are trying to do is have rogues standing at max melee range so they can move out quickly when stun rotations fail and have the tanks bunched pretty closely together spamming Taunt on the hopes that when she whirlwinds she'll redirect her attention from whatever caster she's on her way to eating and head back to the tanks. We basically form a ring around her with each member standing at whatever thier max range is (I'm the benchmark for stupid people with my 21 yard Mind Flay and am the closes person to her other than rogues and tanks), with as much distance between members as possible to get out of her way when she whirlwinds.
The big problem is that on most whirlwinds she manages to eat at least one person before heading to the tank, and slowly whittles down our raid, which only becomes harder when she hits 20% and enrages. I'm wondering if there's any way to improve once we just get her by herself, so as to not cut it so close next time (I think the last people standing were 2 shaman, a hunter, and 2 mages), or if we're going about this the right way, and just need to try harder to not die.
