Yup. Not really much to discuss, but good to hear a solid date finally.
In certain job sectors (IT notably) I wonder how many people are going to be taking vacation time that week?
Also, the real pressing question: Are you a Chief Justice or Imperator? Which is it? Enquiring minds want to know!

I hope to god the release will be smoother than vanilla, which was (in Europe at least) a nightmare.

What mod did you use to get that square minimap in the top left corner? It looks really cool!
Oh wait, wrong thread.
Time to book that holiday indeed! (And yes, I work in IT!)

I wouldn't schedule vacation around this date just yet. I feel bad for all the people that locked in on "end of Q4" and now have a week to...well...enjoy the holidays. Maybe it's not so bad after all.

If anyone is considering taking time off, I would advise the week of Jan. 22-26 instead. Planning time off around an MMO patch day, let alone full-scale release day is, as a rule, a horrible idea. Anyone who started out on the US servers Mal'Ganis, Archimonde, Khadgar, or Dalaran for WoW's release can attest to that.

3 of us in our office have already scheduled time off for it. Since I'm in information security I'm just waiting for some jackass to realese a nasty exploit during that week.
...and yes I remember release. "unable to find server" x 10,000. Thankfully our time off system is easily edited as long as we're 2 weeks ahead.

They'll get the servers up and running just in time to bring them down again for maintenance.

Hah, I had to burn my vacation time or lose it before the end of the year. I had planned the last week off in December for playing the expansion. /grumbles

Well the release is bang in the centre of some module exams for me, which is probably a good thing as either a) the servers will be down for ages in the first week, or b) by the time i get back Hellfire should have calmed down slightly

Time to schedule vacation for the 16th-26th. The bad thing is that I'm taking night classes that my employer pays for so I will have to go to class Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night.

No sign of them yet. I'm not exactly sure why they need a ptr for something that has been tested for up to 3 months already? Here's your test, make sure you don't include the entire datafile in the patch. If patch = 1.6gb it's probably got more in it than you want to share with the non tbc buyers... ;) There, ptr over. ;)

I really, really wish that the 2.0 patch would be the entirety of Burning Crusade minus the ability to actually go there or play the new races so as soon as you plug in your expansion key you're good to go. To hell with what people can datamine the week before release, I want a Blood Elf paladin on my load screen as soon as I am done installing. Staring at a login screen for 48 hours while they patch in all the new content on the servers would be a big disappointment for as long as they've had to plan this.
