Hey all,

I have checked around extensively to validate if this article http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...id=1&pageNo=11 is true.Unfortunately,to my knowledge there has not been a blue post about this yet, could any of the EJ posters over here post a linky or some anecdotal evidence(i.e. screenshots) from beta testers regarding this?

Thanks for your time

===================================================================
For those too lazy to click on the link:

FULLY CONFIRMED

For channeled and and spells with cast time, the formula is:

cast time/3.5*100%

For dots, the formula is:

duration/15*100%

No difference, you say? Well, there is a HUGE difference. The hard cap of 100% has been removed!

Keep in mind that there are 3 penalties: AoE spells have their coefficients cut by 66%, and spells with both damage and healing get a 50% penalty. Spells with a snare effect have a 5% penalty. Drain soul also gets a 50% penalty, too, for no reason whatsoever. (Well, almost. 20 dpm with 700 spell damage gear . . .)

Old numbers in brackets.

Corruption: 120% (100%)
Curse of Agony: 160% (100%)
Siphon Life: 100% (50%)
Drain life: 71.5% (50%)
Drain soul: 215% (50%)
Curse of Doom: 400% (100%)
Soulfire: 171% (100%)
Hellfire: 141% (33%)
Rain of Fire: 76% (33%)
Dark Pact: 96% (0%)
Unstable Affliction: 120% (N/A)

The big winner is clearly curse of doom. 800 spell damage will double its damage. 10k curse of dooms will be commonplace. 35 damage per mana. Good thing its not usable on players, eh?

The other big winner is hellfire. Before the change, to get the same benefit from spell damage as emberstorm, you would need 1080 spell damage. Now, you need 255. Huge buff.

Unchanged spells: Immolate (20% + 65%), Shadow bolt, searing pain, deathcoil, lifetap (80%)

Thank you, Shadowbolt, for your testing.

Currently untested:

Incinerate: does it scale as a 2.5 spell before the bonus immolate damage? Does the bonus damage scale too?
Shadowfury: blastwave and CoC had their coefficients buffed. Will shadowfury get the same treatment?
Seed of corruption: level cap is 67 :(

Me for the hype.

edit: i don't think I have missed anything . . .

PPS: lets consolidate all the new BC scaling numbers into this post.

For mages/priests reading this: Arcane Missiles gets 142.7%, Starshards 171%, SWP 120%, Devouring plague 80%. Pyroblast front end went up slightly, but 60% is tacked onto the dot

I believe the weather forecast for this week is still 57% chance of mind flay.

Those of you who volunteered to be injected with praying mantis DNA, I've got some good news and some bad news.
Bad news is we're postponing those tests indefinitely. Good news is we've got a much better test for you: fighting an army of mantis men.
Pick up a rifle and follow the yellow line. You'll know when the test starts.

So what you're saying is +damage is relatively better than x amount of crit and hit now than it was before.
Cool.

I've seen it reported from multiple trustworthy sources (including warlocks in my guild in the beta), and noone seems to be denying it; I'm trusting it for the moment.

Cool.
That's something he was quoting rather than him saying it per se, but yes and no.

A destro heavy build (Immo/etc/Conflag) will remain entirely unchanged, as none of its spells break the 100% barrier.

An affliction build, on the other hand, will gain massively as our DoTs will be much more efficient, and as you'll be casting at least one more dot anyway (and with the increased efficiency of drain life) Shadowbolt spam will be much less common, and so crit will lose a lot of value and hit will decrease slightly.

Note that the relative values of hit/crit/damage will be changing anyway in the expansion, as the base damage of the spell is a factor, as is the new +%+dmg talents.

Hey there,

I would like to see screenshots of those spells in question(i.e. drain life, corruption, siphon life etc) and the specific talent allocation affecting them.Any additional information such as total amount of +dmg would be helpful.

Thanks!
