Hello, on Twin Emps and have a few questions or if anyone wants to offer tips who have gotten them down pat.

Is the torches the best place to tank using 2 tanks ( no warlocks)? Doing 2 tanks to keep it more simplified as well as the warlocks attendence with the gear (SR) can be spotty, usally have one NR warlock on.

During the switch, what are the best practices for the two main-tanks switching? Move where, when, how far etc...what abilities work best. Any tips the tanks want to offer would be much appreciated.

I know there is a few threads on Twin Emps but they do not cover this part from what i can tell.

Oh yeah, what would be your number one priority or tip for this fight in general?

thanks guys

Have you ever done an attempt using warriors? There's nothing to the transitions, just run away from Vek'lor after the teleport. When Vek'nilash teleports in drag him back to the torch.

Tank moves towards the raid when veklor comes, I prefer moving by the wall but some people are walking in the open and that's working too. That's all you have to do, and walking back towards the torch when veknilash comes ofc. There's no little trick except some personal choices you find out yourself.

It's actually possible to stay in melee range the entire time. If you back yourself up to the wall such that an arcane blast will knock you straight back, you don't move at all. The arcane blast packs a punch, sure, but it has a cooldown. In the downtime, Vek'lor tends to punch the tank more than he casts shadow bolts. We've been using this strategy for about a month now and it works out really well. The only danger is the additional spike damage that can sometimes come with the teleports. We've had a couple wipes caused by an arcane blast-instant teleport-crit unbalancing strike-crushing melee, but it's not all that common.

If you use the moving strategy though, it's good to have your tanks wear 1-2 pieces of GOOD shadow resist gear. Ours also swapped in a midnight mace (I think? Shadow resist weapon) and a shadow resist shield for vek'lor. The positioning involved the tank moving between the base of the stairs and the torch depending on the emp, and we had our healers move accordingly as well. They never took a blizzard unless he got way out of position for some reason. And, of course, make sure you get the proximity aggro before moving all the way to your new position each swap.

Spam battleshout. Make sure the tank gets the prox aggro early on.

Actually this twin emperors tanking thread has come up at a pretty good time considering the looming 2.0 patch. One potential concern is that it may not be possible to use two warriors to Battle Shout tank because of a certain patch note that said Bshout was causing more threat than intended. So perhaps it is time for guilds to get warlocks some SR gear.

Errr, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here, but you've seen the latest PTR notes w.r.t Battleshout, right?

Edit: beaten to it.

You dont have to use battleshout at all to tank the emps, you can just stand there. Sure it has helped against idiot casters, but its not needed.

The positioning we use involves the tanks standing on the + shaped floor tiles at either side for the melee chap and then moving back to the base of the stairs and spamming BS on the caster twin. It genuinely seems that (to me atleast) unless your mages/locks overnuke initial proximity aggro with even a tiny bit of additional aggro will keep either of the twins attention. We tend to switch between using a lock or 2 tanks dependant on attendance both work fine and theres not too much to tell between them for effectiveness (ofc patch could change this).

Something weve gotten our melee DPS to do (this may or may not be worth it but we think it is) is to get them to pop a rupture, rend (eew) etc up on the emperor as they run out so theres dmg on transition aswell. This is pretty similar to Chrom for rogues and warriors in terms of buttons etc. With healing make sure your priest arent afraid to bubble on the teleport as if your tanks messed up positioning/gets an unlucky unbalancing etc it will help a lot. Also popping a judgement of light up on the melee emperor is a ice little aid aswell (sounds obvious but we were under the impression that no magic could be used atall on melee one doh!).

Hm, I thought that Battleshout/Aggro-stuff only worked if all group members actually get the buff. I mean, I'm BSing as well at the Twin Emperors, but there's only one warlock at my side to get it anyway (tankgroup, the two warriortanks, two warlocks for imps and one shaman), and there're nearly no aggro concerns (except for some uber ambitious warlock ;)), so if I'm correct, there should be no big impact by those PTR changes.

We use the 2 warrior tactic and we have never had healing pull aggro and thats without us using battleshout.

Yes. If only we had a search function.
