This stack overflow hit us today too; right before a cthun fight. It happened only once tho; but it did disconnect more than a few members.

Oh please. It's a (I assume a unicode char) that WoW handles badly, that does not mean it's forever illegal to say that char. Bugs, as this is, should never be hidden from the public.

Posting it on a site as frequented as EJ would expose it to more than a healthy number of troublemakers who could simply ctrl-C/ctrl-V their way into WoW mischief.

The particular char is a pretty common char byte and the same in both ansi and unicode. The thing why it wasnt noticed before is because browsers convert it to a generic space when either copying or sending the byte. In other words, it's not a matter of ctrl+c, ctrl+v.

A number of people on Kael'Thas had the issue of stack overflow last week and we narrowed it down to the Guild Event Manager (GEM). At the time, we removed GEM and contacted the add-on developer on his forum. The temporary fix he suggested was to remove the gemdefaultchannel, which indeed fixed the issue for us. Then he brought up the edit to the World of Warcraft\WTF\Config.wtf file, which enabled the default channel to be reactivated.

So, has it been fixed with 2.0.1?

Still downloading the patch (and jesus, I first have to patch my german client to be able to update my english language pack. Gogo patch 1.12 >.<) and the servers won't be up for another supposed 3 hours.

If you mean the newline character, that's a feature that was implemented 4-5 patches ago, largely to combat chat spoofing.

Im not actually sure if it was just some crazy thing with my addons being now incompatable (hint delete all of your addons beforehand they are useless now). Or the fact that myself and many other people had to delete their WTF files inorder to see certian things on the screen. I myself couldnt see anything in my overflowing bags except 3 items (runecloth Bdgs, sharpstones and FR belt), couldnt see my character, and half the other characters were showing up half naked.
Another friend could see all her stuff but for some reason everyone was pantless o_O
Upon deleting my WTF files it fixed, I took the new file and added in the changes for Stacking since Id had a problem with it before. And as soon as I log in, I would DC from wow. Did it about 5 times, couldnt stay in IF more than a second each time, put 2 and 2 together and took the changes back out of the config file, and ... no more crashes.
Maybe its just my silly computer/server/some lingering addon that didnt like me. Idk but if someone smarter than I could look into it?
