Yes, but it must operate differently, that much is obvious, otherwise they would have just said "must play 30% of games every week to remain eligible for ranking" but they didn't. And I highly doubt it that if a player misses like 2 weeks in middle of season that they aren't eligible for rewards either. I bet there are rules in place for this already, they just haven't told us what they are yet. That's what I was asking, but I guess no one else knows either.

I could also ask if Blizzard intends to delete all characters once they've been in a raid that's killed Magtheridon, since they've never said they won't, but that doesn't mean it's a question worth the time answering.

Planning to work the system to get a bad PvP'er a slightly faster mount based on a vague statement by Blizzard doesn't make sense. It's not that "no one else knows", it's simply that noone else can be asked to question every ambiguous blue post ever.

The transformation from your Team Rating to Arena Points starts off as a linear function, but once you go beyond a certain rating threshold, the function becomes logistic. This means that you will see a significant payoff increase once your Team Rating goes beyond a certain point, but the high-end spectrum of the ratings will eventually notice a decrease in how much bang they get for their buck.
Am I the only one that got a chuckle out of this? :(

The appropriate word is logarithmic

The word they were looking for is "logarithmic", a mathematical function.

"Logistic" is organizing supplies, such as consumable farming (and since consumables are banned in arena, it's a particularly funny choice of word).

On topic:

30% participation that week to get the arena points for that week. Arena points given weekly, not just at the end of the season. You COULD bring someone in in the last week, but even if they play 30% of the games they will get the points for just that week, not the whole season.

I suppose an incredibly awesome 5-man team could sell a spot for 30% of their games to an OK player for a season if they were really confident they could carry him, but it sounds like more trouble than its worth.

Or to put it another way, top arena epic rewards will be a sign of PvP skill, unlike rank 14 in WoW 1.x which was a sign of either unhealthy dedication or a farming service. Can't wait.

I thought that too, but a simple Google search yielded this:

"A logistic function or logistic curve models the S-curve of growth of some set P. The initial stage of growth is approximately exponential; then, as competition arises, the growth slows, and at maturity, growth stops."

They probably meant logistic too, since the part about a significant payoff after a certain point doesn't make any sense if they meant logarithmic.

Like posted above, the term logistic is not merely limited to the act of organizing stuff. :)

I can see the funnay now though, thanks.

There's no reason to get clever about it, this is a legit question. They have been pretty clear about who gets arena points. There is seperate then a season ending reward. There are a number of ways they can handle it - who is on the roster on the last day, people who have earned 50% of the teams points for the season, people who have played the 30% of the matches 50% of the weeks of the season, etc. etc.. Some will be more open to exploitation then others.
