I'm not sure if the regular downloader is doing it, but the background downloader actually saves the .torrent file now in the WoW\Cache directory. You might check that folder to see if you can just launch it from there.

Thanks Maniq and Kalman, that's much more sane than Blizzard's torrent client.

Hopefully someone smarter than me on these forums can provide a workaround, seeing as how blizzard refuses to comment on the many threads on the official wow forums about a ETA on fix or a workaround.

I suspect that nobody has been able to copy over and play successfully in this new wave, seeing as /who 60 on blade's edge = 10 people found, not 49 million.

Tons of lowbies, though, since you can easily start new chars.

They were wasted on every guild of the beta server we are on. There's not a single guild group running anything at level 70. It's all PUG action. Oh yeah, almost all of us played. But most stopped 61. OMG I actually have to level up all the way to 70? Not interested anymore! bam, never seen again.

People having errors downloading patch.

I got an error renaming my character after it finally copied over.

And of course there's not much interest in leveling a toon for 1 month of beta.

Our guild got the beta invites on Friday, and we actually had a fair number of people (including myself) interested in getting over there an starting to level to 70.

It took 20 hours to copy my character, but right now there seems to be an issue with logging in a newly transfered character.

The issue I'm having is that when trying to log the character into the game, I get box saying "OK" that doesn't do anything. Some other people are stuck at "Renaming Character...".

After numerous posts, someone in the customer service forum has responded.

We are currently looking into the reported cases of this in order to investigate the underlying cause of this issue.

Basically just posting this as a heads up that it's unlikely you'll be able to play immediately upon transfering. Well, at least your main... the starting areas for both Dranei and Blood Elves on Hellfire (PVE) are rather busy right now.

Ahhh how I love Blizzard, they give us keys a month before beta ends, and when you try to copy your toon you get an error at the rename character prompt.

On EU side things aren't any better, they've been inviting thousands of people through competitions (don't know about status of EU guild invitations) in last week but whole beta site was down so you couldn't enter your key to upgrade. After they managed to fix that character copy page was still broken or those who managed to copy theirs have not seen copies actually go through.

At least Belf/Draenei starting areas are getting some good testing now.

I find myself wondering why they invited people to test their raid content using their Live characters when nobody can play their characters because of the rename bug which was not fixed during the downtime today. This is seriously retarded.

There was downtime today? I just got done running Mana Tombs after playing my paladin since ~7:30 am PST and there hasn't been any yet.

I was lucky and ninja-copied my chars as soon as the beta was announced. I didn't get a key though then so I couldn't test anything. I recieved a key last week and as I had my main char copied already I could start playing him as soon as I upgraded my account (which took a fair bit of hammering).

The problem I see is that, at least the server I'm on (tempest keep) is dead. I don't know if it's the same for all the beta servers but logon during prime time and there's around 20-30 level 60+ chars online. Which is depressing. I wanted to try out some instances but it's just not possible to find a group within reasonable time. Even less so being minor dps class.

I also copied another alt yesterday and a few hours later he was on the char list. Maybe I was lucky. :)

They actually revoked my beta account when they banned our accounts which while completely understandable is an outrage! :p

Maybe they found out Might exploded? Blizzard hasn't always been very logical in their decision process.

It's possible, but we've still been "around," so maybe we dropped below the requisite number of raid bosses killed per week or something :P Although we have since unexploded, and since they are giving beta keys to people with cancelled accounts, I don't know why they would ever be so mean to us =(

I have a sighting of a supercasual 4-hour-per-week player getting a beta invite. I was between guilds in Aug/Sept and don't hold out a lot of hope for myself so I will play vicariously through his meagre playtime. And through the Beta thread on this forum of course.

Beta downtime is pretty much whenever they're ready to patch. We've had several different maintenance days since I got into beta, sometimes the server isn't even taken down at all.
