i imagined more a raiding guild that had an open door policy. If you wanted an invite, you can come, if you want to leave fine.. if you wanted to come back, that's fine too. The guild raids and tries to be competitive with the server (sorta). This guild would of course have to be pretty big, essentially a raiding guild formed entierly by casuals or hardcore people who were told to 'gear out first, then come reapp'. There is little interaction in the guild outside of the actual raiding, and dkp would be used, wiped if you leave and rejoin, etc.
While it sounds stupid, the top tier of that guild, the people who run it would have access to a guild bank, and the best items their guild can farm while other people can get gear to move onto better guilds.. or stay in that guild since it works for them.
It won't have the permanent 'stability' of a 'lets be the best guild ever rawr' but it does rely on a pretty reliable thing.. people's greed for loot.
in this case you have the concept of a merc guild, and at the same time you have a group gearing out people who you can one day potentially poach... now the quality of those players is another issue.. ;)
No honestly I am dumb. Most of the I'm playing smart.
One thing that you may have noticed by now is that Leftovers is not traditional raiding "guild". There are NO requirements made of the members of Leftovers to do any of the following:
Leave Current guilds
Change to a specific Talent setup (respec.)
Undergo a "trial period" before getting loot
Sell your soul.
Except that for high end instances they use more stable groups called "strike teams":
Strike Teams are created every time that a group of public raiders reach a point where further progress in the tiered raiding setup that Blizzard uses discourages the dynamic grouping that public raids function under.
I give these guys an A+ in management for keeping alive such a raiding community. ^^
Well, yes and no *laugh* In all honesty, we're almost exactly the opposite of what Bekah proposed in the OP: the raids are organized in one location and our raiders come from all over, instead of our raiders being organized in one group and potentially raiding with all sorts of other groups/guilds.
On a side note, you wanna talk about changes? With the new expansion coming, not only are we moving to a new points system, we're completely scrapping the way our raids are set up and changing all *that*, too. Turbulent times ahead!
