The title pretty much sums it up, im trying to theorycraft for different spells at 70 with different levels of damage gear (and perhaps end up making a spreadsheet, who knows?) and i heard the mechanics of dmg bonuses on pyroblast were changed in this last patch. Anyone able to provide me with the info?

Fairly certain it's just 6/3.5, or about 171% bonus. I haven't done too much research into it though.

Sorry, I should have clarified.

I understand the new damage bonus over cast time mechanics, i was referring to how the damage is divided between the initial hit and the dot.

Is Pyro still 171%? I believe Soul Fire got nerfed back, I thought Pyro did too.

I believe it's 150% upfront and 20%ish on dot.

This probably should have been asked in http://forums.elitistjerks.com/viewtopic.php?id=9490 or http://forums.elitistjerks.com/viewtopic.php?id=8979 .

Napkin math from a 60 mage:
Average Initial: 803
DoT: 268
Total: 1071
+% to Initial: 803/1071 = 74.98%
+% to DoT: 268/1071 = 25.02%

+Damage Coef: 6/3.5 = 171.43%

% of Gear to Initial: 1.7143 * .7498 = 1.2853 (128%)
% of Gear to DoT: 1.7143 * .2502 = .429 (43%)
