Yesterday when doing some tests with the holy spec i've come accross two "bugs" or atleast I think they are bugs. I was hoping to get some feedback from other paladins wether they've encountered them aswell and/or have read anything about it. I've posted them on the official class forums aswell but gave up since ppl are to busy drooling over their damage.

- I've specced 3/3 in sanctified light meaning that my HL should have an extra 6%critchance. But when healing myself with HL and FoL for over 500 times my recap came up with critprecentages that were very close to each other (26,7 and 27,2) but nowhere close to the 6% HL should have extra.

- When using HS offensivly it seems to only return mana when you've used DF, all other crits on enemy targets don't refund mana.

The first I have no idea on, but the second is intended to work that healing crits give mana back (whether DF'd or not), damage crits shouldn't.

In my experience Holy Light seems to crit more than Flash by quite a bit, but of course it could be in my head because I haven't done any longterm tests.

Holy Shock used offensively never gives back mana when it crits due to Illumination, only as heals. Here's an example of my combat log(Hitsmode) when I just tested it. I used Holy Light to lose 660 mana.

[10:25:11] [You] Holy Light [You] +2784
[10:25:11] [You] gain Light's Grace
[10:25:13] [You] gain Divine Favor
[10:25:15] [You] Holy Shock crit [Druse] *706*
[10:25:15] [You] Divine Favor fades
[10:25:26] [You] Light's Grace Fades

(notice no mana gain)

However, the most interesting bug that I've found on my Paladin is that the Holy Guidance talent (35% of Intellect added to Spell Damage/Healing) in fact also adds 35% of your Intellect to your weapon damage range on the character sheet. This is why Paladin's running around in PvP with one handers in tier 3 are still hitting people for 3 digit numbers even with 300 attack power and 41 dps healing maces.
With my Scepter of the False Prophet this proves to actually be quite a DPS increase, the faster the weapon the better since the damage added per swing is the same regardless of speed(Not that your trying to DPS as this spec and using this gear).

(notice that 35% of my intellect is being added to my damage range)

Hmmm if you read the tooldtip though it clearly states "after getting a critical effect from ....."
Did some test and yeah you don't seem to get mana bac from offensive useage of HS (must've been crosseyed ^^).

But i am pretty sure about the HL FoL thing and have the numbers to back me up. I am wondering though if there are different crit formula's for spells that variate in speed. For example faster spells get a higher crit rating then slower spells.

If you actually read the tooltip, however, it says "After getting a critical effect from your Flash of Light, Holy Light or Holy Shock heal spell, gives you a 20% chance to gain Mana equal to the base cost of the spell."

edit: <- nubcake.

Yeah, the tooltip is misleading but I don't think Blizzard intends for Illumination to effect Holy Shock used offensively. Seems to be a healing only talent.

Divine favor still fails to apply itself if cast immediately following a heal.

The Light's Grace buff will not appear fast enough to let you chain cast 2-second holy lights if you are casting as fast as possible.

I can test this on the beta when I get home after New Year's (1c respecs FTW) by doing runs both with and without the talent, if nobody's done so before then.

My comrades are my weapons, and I am their shield.

Pre 2.0, I've observed a much higher crit rate from FoL than HL.

It was a difference of about 5~% or more, but the total numbers are a tad skewed, since the rates were recorded for both PvP and PvE while using different sets of gear.
(I'm not raid buffed in PvP, and tend to use HL there; PvE, I have AI, BoK, etc, while using FoL a lot)

If there's a base +crit% mod for certain types of spells, it might explain why tested paladin crit% per int was 30 pre 2.0 and whatever # the tooltip says it is now.
