I'm posting this here because most other forums are cess pools, and this is really the only forum I read anymore. I do apologize for the somewhat trivial nature of this question. Its driving me nuts though.
In some past patch, there was a boss added to Graveyard wing of SM, I remember this clearly, but my problem is I dont remember his name, nor where exactly he spawns.
I need to know his name (I remember it was one short word?), and where he spawns (I could have sworn the patch said he'd spawn after you kill Thalnos). My friends and I are running through there right now in our 5man party and we'd like to kill him!
The Scourge Invasion is a yearly event, so he, along with the other temporary mobs will be back next year at the same time the Scourge Invasion happened last year.

Has this been openly stated anywhere? I've seen vague Blizzard comments, but nothing solid.

This year's "Scourge Invasion" event happened early June at the same time of the "Shadow of the Necropolis" Patch 1.11 which introduced Naxxramas. There is no indication on Blizzard's Event Calendar that it will be a recurring event.

Even though the Scourge Invasion is in fact listed under Blizzard's Event Calendar, it's not planned for the next year so far (calendar goes until September 2007). If I'm not mistaken, this even was tightly related with the implementation of Naxx, so I find it unlikely that it is a repeatable event. I believe it's something similar with the opening of the AQ gates.

'War' is too small a word for what I'm fighting. Like a candle in front of the whole burning Sun. Now, I am not going to die today. I have other projects, and other options.
The undead invasion is currently planned to be a recurring event, so while you might not have a steady, dependable supply, you will have the opportunity to replenish stocks
That's about the only blue post I could find on the subject of the invasion returning. The important part to note here is "currently planned" since CM's have always been quick to point out how things can often change. Since this is currently level 60 content, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see it again.
I don't think the calendar is currently 100% accurate, as it should include Call to Arms : Eye of the Storm as this currently occurs on the beta server.
I had interrpreted the Scourge Invasion as just something to let those that had neglected their AD rep (naughty naughty) to get a nice big push into honored so they can check out Naxx.
Well, Naxx was what, August? So it's either half-yearly or yearly. Kind of strange because it's not really a major event, especially when BC comes out and the AD rewards are strictly diminished. I suppose it wouldn't be very special if there were big floating Necropoli outside of IF every day.
Such a shame to have some good mobs with good loot that were only around for a few weeks =/.
rare mobs and items are one thing i think MMOs need more of. I see so many players ask people with the AQ battle tank and the items associated with the AQ Scepter chain where those items came from and I think it's pretty cool.
It's almost twisted how much WoW is centered around collecting items in the way that Pokemon cards or Pogs or Beanie Babies worked. I get gear envy like everybody else, but I don't understand the way some people get worked up over items and the way it causes them to act toward other players, even players that they have been raiding with for a long time.
It's cool that there are a few special items in WoW for which once they're gone, they're gone for good. And if you didn't get the AQ or Scourge invasion items, then you can always look to the next event to get whatever it is that is unique to that event.
The scourge re-invasion (should it ever actually occur again) will only really serve to anger me greatly over the AE changes. Ah how I miss feeling overpowered for that brief period of time!
The last I heard on the matter was indeed the vague idea that they'd be running it again and perhaps fairly soon. Obviously it won't be that relative soon anymore and with the changes to reputation gains and the deprecation of old content, I'd be surprised if they do actually bother to run the old script again. It would be nice if they updated and ran a level 70 version eventually though but we shall see. Naturally the lore tie-in to Naxx was a focus at the time and that is not particularly important anymore but I don't really care; I like undead running amok.

Man, I knew I should have bought multiple Ivory Raptors instead of just the one I ride now, I could have made many, many thousands of gold. You guys should be happy that Argent Dawn tabards are a yearly event, because the old school epic mounts (the old Arctic Wolf, Raptors, Horses and Tigers were pretty awesome looking) don't look like they'll ever be purchasable again. Ever since cross-server BGs came out, I've been fielding a compliment/question about my mount everytime I zone in.
A little OT answer here, but I have definitely seen more battle tanks than I have seen oldschool mounts. Every server has at least one battle tank, my server has 3 or 4 I think (2 real and 1 or 2 transfers, not completely sure) but it seems like very few servers have active oldschool mounts from what I've seen in xrealm BG.

Actually within the last month someone posted asking about how to get one of the set items or something or other, and a CM responded saying something to the effect of "the undead are restless and could return at any time!" I'll try to dig the post up later for it.

Not to mention that a significant number of realms (possibly even a majority, given the rate at which new realms have come up since release) weren't even around when they did the changeover, so they can never have any old-school mounts, barring transferees bringing them with them, and even on those that were around, they're limited to those who hit 60 and got an epic mount before the change. I'm pretty sure that on my first character (started at the Euro release), the change had gone through by the time i'd got to 60 and saved up enough cash (which wasn't amazingly quick, by any means, i'll admit), although it definitely wasn't long before, as I remember reading the patch notes and seeing the new models and being disappointed that I wouldn't quite manage to get one of the old-school wolves without the collar.
Honestly, that was one change I really wish they never went through with. Every person I've talked to has mentioned the old epic mounts, with the exception of the Kodo, looked much better before. God, what I would give to be able to purchase a non-armored mount.
AN came out on the second go around of new servers and so far I only know about 2 of them were ever purchased. One black panther and one Ivory raptor.

I couldn't agree more with the new mounts being lame. The worst are the human mounts in my view. At least i felt like i was riding a pretty white horse before, but now it's this ridiculous anorexic armadillo thing. It's not just that the old ones are now rare, it's that they look a million percent better, in my view. Tis always a shame when they remove something which didn't suck and then replace it with something else. Why not allow both?
Also i was solo farming SM the other evening and some rogue wanted to tag along (ugh) so i let him, and he said that after killing the blood mage some demon dude came down and wtfpwned them all. I called shenanigans since it sounded ludicrous. But apparently it was real? Must've been one part of the invasion i'd missed. What Alliance runs GY anyway? I think the only invasion boss i fought was the one in Stratholme. I guess i really missed out on some stuff there.
I do hope the invasion returns in some form. The post i remember reading said that the Scourge would regroup and try again, but i have this feeling that it hinted at there being changes. Now the old one was very popular, i found. So i'd like to think they'd ramp it up a bit. Add in some bigger more threatening elements, perhaps bring the Lich King into the mix a little more since Kel'Thuzad won't exactly the focal point of people's interests. I'll stop brainstorming... But i did really like the invasion, it just needed to be more threatening with mobs charging on towns who actually had some semi decent DPS. Anyone who has quested in Silverpine or Duskwood will know just how much fun high level patrolling mobs are :D
