Greetings!
Like many, I am in the midst of preparing for the xpc release. Having searched the threads for this info and not finding it I would appreciate your insights on the following:
What quest arcs currently in the game (if any) carry over or continue in the outlands? How many quest log slots would you recommend we have open on the 16th?
Do any quests/arcs in TBC have prerequitites currently in the game?
Are there any quest items, rewards, or faction rep currently in the game that you would consider required or indispensable for WoW2.0?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts,
:G
p.s.: If this has been asked and answered previously please link to that thread and/or delete this post.

The only quest I know of is the reforging of the Ashbringer, but it's implied that it doesn't require the 1.0 questline to be done.
Just being reminded of it yesterday, I was always disappointed that Blizzard just completely forgot about the Essence of Eranikus quest chain.

I participated in the Moonglade event a few times, but since I wasn't on the quest myself, I don't know how the AQ event tied into that.
If they ever get around to it, The Emerald Dream is probably where that story will unfold further.

I believe the answers are...
Zero, all of them, none, and no items or reputation needed.
Things that are carrying over into the expansion-- Honor, Battleground tokens, and Gold. There are also various crafting items that would also be useful to bring along, especially enough Runecloth to level First Aid.
From what I've heard, the Outlands zones are designed to be completed mostly in a series. Each zone has a well-defined level range, a clearing path, and quest arcs for the dungeons and across the zone. The zones don't hop around each other like they do in live WoW where past level 40 the game starts having the character hop all around the world to complete quests.

Might as well list some.
1. Eranikus and the Emerald Dream. It got some progression in the AQ Gate quest, but was still left really very vague. Also, kind of silly that a major plot point (Malfurion's status) was shown ONCE in a single cutscene. Oh well.
2. Ravenholdt. Lets do something with Ravenholdt.
3. Scythe of Elune. What's going on with all these Worgen? There were some really interesting bits about Black Riders from Kharazhan, etc. What's going on in KH? Do the baddies there have a plan, or are they just hanging out?
4. Kazzak and the Dark Portal event. Blizzard has been really tightlipped about what happens on release. Apparently SOMETHING happens, we just don't know what. I really hope it starts on 1/16 and runs until 1/18, because I don't get my copy until 1/18.
5. The Scarlet Crusade. Apparently they know that Balnazzar is a demon, but they don't seem to care. (Check the EPL dinner conversation flavor text.) This is probably better in the next XP anyway.
5. Fordring and his knights. Maybe this will tie into the Corrupted Ashbringer quest? We can dream.
6. Dalaran/Gilneas/Tol Barad/other areas
7. The Last Diplomat and the King of Stormwind. Where the heck is he NOW? I'm guessing we're waiting for the Naga expansion for this one.
8. Where did Brann Bronzebeard end up? He got out of AQ somehow, apparently. I was hoping we'd actually get to see the bugger.
9. The Disks of Uldaman. Since I'm from Uldum, I'd love to see this line continue, but it'll probably be some time.
Well, that's all I can think of.
For a long time I gave up hope on ever seeing these mysterious questlines 'finished' in any way. Then there was the Egg quest in Sunken Temple. I believe it used to terminate with you giving the Egg to the grateful Troll in Tanaris. Then, after the release of ZG, I believe they expanded the questline to indicate that that Troll took the Egg to ZG and used it to summon Hakkar! A neat conclusion to a quest line.

"Legends of Azeroth, World of Warcraft's second expansion will focus on adding places to the world you've never seen before to the world you know and love!"
I actually wouldn't be surprised if their second expansion after announcing that they'll now be bringing them out yearly will be something to this extend, including the stuff from the quoted.

You know, I'd like to see some sort of continuation to the quest you get WAAAAAAAAAAAY beack in Wailing Caverns after you kill the giant Murloc and get the Nightmare Gem. You turn the damn thing in, and there's a bunch of oooh-ing and ahh-ing by whatever Archdruid you turn it into, and then there's nothing but a hanging potential to be called on again to do something about it.
Here's to hoping this will get picked up when they add the Emerald Dream to the game someday...

Yeah, it was stated numerous times that Blizz intention is to make one expansion per year. Will they be able to do ? Only time will tell.

Totally future expansion material. Someone in my guild thinks an expansion in a couple of years will be the "OK, now you're so strong you can fight dragon aspects" and then we get Corrupted Ysera, Crazy Malygos, Caverns of Time Controlled Alexstrasza and Just Plain Evil Neltharion as our raid bosses. It's not a bad idea.

Anyone mind spoiling Karazhan storyline for us non-beta people? I'll admit it was a little disappointing to hear that the final bosses of Karazhan are nobody we've ever heard of before.

*coughSerpentshrineCaverncough*
Of course, we all thought we'd see Brann Bronzebeard in AQ40. And then in Naxx. And- not so much.
|
8. Where did Brann Bronzebeard end up? He got out of AQ somehow, apparently. I was hoping we'd actually get to see the bugger.
|
Probably show up in Northrend.
|
9. The Disks of Uldaman. Since I'm from Uldum, I'd love to see this line continue, but it'll probably be some time.
|
This is one for which back-flagging SHOULD be done. No complete Uldaman, no complete Discs of Norgannon quest, no entry. Uldaman will be easy solo content by then anyway as long as you bring two friends to trigger the altar (any level 70s on beta had a crack at archaedes solo? Could well be soloable now).
Otherwise I can't see them really going back and requiring old quests for any of this stuff. It's pretty clear at this point how ambitious the original world and quest designers were and how big their plans were for new content, but a LOT of stuff has been postponed to the distant future now. If they were going to, they would have hooked the old Essence of Eranikus quest into the sceptre questline.

Wrong quest line. Copernic was talking about the egg that you get to summon the Avatar of Hakkar in the Sunken Temple. The tablet questline deals with magical troll tablets called "Mosh'aru."
Edit: Starts here: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=3527; then here: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=5065; ends here: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=4788. In theory it could just be another Hakkar prophecy, but it's never explicitly cleared up.
Edit2: They're actually kind of connected, but the fifth and sixth tablets aren't required to talk to Yeh'kinya and if you talk to him he reveals Hakkar so, I dunno.

This was perhaps the best questchain I've done in this game. You really feel like you're doing highly important stuff even at a relatively low level. You end up in Dustwallow Marsh doing something for Jaina, and she tells you to meet her back at her tower in Theramore.
There was a strong hint in the air of this quest being linked to the King of Stormwind, who was trapped in a jail-cell under tons of level 63 elites on Alcaz island near Theramore. I was hoping for some follow-up escort quest, helping him out of there and ending up in Stormwind with a big world-event of sorts.
Edit: Bah noticed someone else posted this :ninja:

They are the same questline.
I actually ran it, as the patchnote hinted there would be linkage to ZG, and I thought - cool, maybe there will be a nice shiny item. The Mosh'aru tablet followups are on Ironboot, which leads you to http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=8182
That's right. The ST questline ends with an introduction quest for ZG. There's no followup (and no prize). Sorry, chain "closed," albeit hamfistedly.

I was getting somewhat confused myself. They are talking about the same questline arent they?. Its also a difficult questliine to follow unless you are experienced with it or following a quest guide.
The first time I did the quest line I missed the very last step of travel to ZG until it came up in guild chat. Even on my latest alt I made a mental note come back to steamwheedle port in a few levels, as I was 50, and pick up the folllow on quests and of course that alt is now 57 and I had completely forgotten to go back.
Of course the longer they leave these questlines unfinished the harder it is to make a "fair" continuation of them. I knew I was letting Thrall down by deleting my Lieutenants Insignia at 60 but I needed the bag space.

That's so lazy and depressing. Why is there a generic dragon at the top of this thing? WHY? It would be a million times cooler and memorable if the Black Riders had some sort of twisted plan that involved the Scythe of Elune.. and some sort of thing to explain the mysterious gloom over Duskwood... Worgen spawning from a dark portal as you fought Teron Gorefiend for control of the Tower.
Honestly, one of the reasons WoW worked is that, because of good writing, you could ignore that Dungeons were really these static bags of loot for you to tag. You could at least pretend that you were making a difference. In my mind, Gnomeregan WAS cleaned out, all these years ago. And if they're just hanging around, no trouble to anyone, aren't I kind of a dick for killing them for their gold they have? Is Netherspite really HURTING anyone?
ZG Stuff: Is it really hamfisted? I thought it had a certain kind of elegance. It really highlights the fact that everything you're doing in Sunken Temple is pretty stupid. The Green Dragons had things in hand. They aren't even evil! The evil trolls were weak and consigned to just part of the Temple. Then you waltz in, kill all the dragons, and liberate Hakkar. Good show. *clapzors*

There are other loose ends in Dustwallow, the burned down inn and the traitor guy end with some referance to the King IIRC. I've always wished for more meat to this bone, that diplomat-chain is truely awesome.

The Emerald Dream has to be something massive on the backburner, if not for a whole expansion then at least a good chunk of one. I would not expect what is likely the single biggest focus point of lore within WoW so far to be dealt with in a small fashion. The Alliance have known something is fishy since they meet the Archdruid, the Horde since Wailing Caverns, and both have had mysterious lore thrown at them from there till endgame. It's a lot of stuff... a major Warcraft figure in a coma since release, Teldrassil, Wailing Caverns, Barrens corruption, four epically huge world portals, Eranikus, four corrupted green dragonflight spawns, Malfurion's cryptic messages from beyond mentioning a battle and an old god's influence (C'Thun 2: Electric Boogaloo?), and a number of lesser things. It should be a real fun one for lore freaks whenever they get to developing the content.
