But consider the scenario of a friend in New Zealand purchasing a copy of TBC for you and sending you the key in email. You could conceivably get access to the expansion almost a day earlier than you would otherwise.
Expansion's being released here (NZ) on the 17th by the way according to the stores I've checked with so even going to a midnight release here (which a few places are doing) it's not going to put us ahead of schedule.

Oh, totally didnt know that, awesome :) Although i presume the downside of that is that you cant go and pick up a BE/Dranei char with a non-expansion lvl 60.
I haven't bought a mount in ages. Are they BoP now? Because they used to be bind on use, which would let someone else go buy one for you and trade it to you.
Re: release dates
Same in Australia, 17th. Don't worry Americans, you guys will still get it first. They remember the bad press they got for the timing of the C'Thun fix </troll>
Actually, it's a good thing. If Australia and NZ did get it on the 16th, I have no doubt at all the stocks available to us would have been seriously depleted by people doing exactly what was suggested, people in the US arranging to buy copies in Australia/NZ and have the CD key sent over.
I'm a bit rusty with timezone, but I believe europe gets TBC before the US, since we can get it at midnight on the 15th, which is 6-8hours before the US? Not like you could use an euro key for an US account tho, and we also end up with maintenance the next day(maintenance is on wednesday for europe, while it's probably still on tuesday for the US).
As for being able to use the beta client, my take on it is you'll just be able to use it. What the current TBC CD probably contain is the huge file you have to install when you install TBC. Then patch it, which is why they said you should keep your 2.0.3patch. It's also why TBC beta is its own version of the game, and not just a "Test-like" directory inside your normal wow dir. Makes some sense, at least to me. I sure hope it works tho, I don't want to play with the french client, even if it's for a single day. Goddamn localization, they find ways to make every single name in the game sounds stupid.
Is the raid management that Blizzard provide completely messed for anyone else on this board? On the European Realm Dentarg, we can't actually kick, give leader, or promote anyone (without /commands) by clicking them, as it does it to someone completely random, which means that if someone goes offline in a BG raid and doesn't come back, you have to make a new BG raid -_-
Rather annoying, oh and Hunters new Concussive makes the class even more easy mode :/

Known bug. No real ETA on a fix yet, other than "it is coming", and "some time this week".

Yes, EU will be able to get it before US. I think it was said there wont be maintenance the day after, btw.
Looks like nobody mentioned this yet: the new camp at the dark portal offers a quest to kill some invading mobs for a tabard that looks exactly like the AD tabard. Oh, and 5g.
One amusing thing about the tabard is it's /use effect. Does an AE animation as well as /flex
I can't say how reproducable it is, but if I was killing Green Dragons today and noticed something odd when activating the tabbard ... It baselined whatever mana regen from spirit I had at the moment. Whatever mana regen I had before activating it, got added to my normal regen (ie. if activated while "casting" I got 115% regen while not casting and 30% regen while casting ... as opposed to 100% and 15%) I first noticed on the 2nd dragon after activating it while innervated ... I was getting over 500 mana per tic constantly.
I'm sure it's a bug of some sort, but it certainly makes me feel more heroic.
Regarding the whole TBC fresh install being 2.0.1-ish and CM's advise to keep the 2.0.3 patch handy, I doubt anyone screwed up anywhere... keep in mind that months down the road, both parallel roads of TBC players and vanilla-WoW players will both need content patches in unison.
Assuming for a moment there are no patches, TBC players need the data on Outlands and Exodar/Silvermoon, which vanilla WoW players don't need as they are blocked from accessing. Hence, this is the "content that's on the TBC disc". Now, some time down the road, Blizzard releases a patch that changes game mechanics equally for both groups of players (say, talent trees for a couple of classes, item adjustments, perhaps graphical fixes of some sort) in a form of a several-MB patch that both groups must download, bringing versions numbers up simultaneously.
In actual fact, that patch was 2.0.3. The only reason its confusing is because the patch is a step -forward- from the build of TBC that went gold. However, 2.0.3 is already live, before TBC is launched; hence, we get a rollback to TBC 2.0.1 on installation and need to re-patch.
In summary: There's going to be two parallel clients now, which are vanilla WoW and TBC. The difference between the two data-wise is that TBC has all the Outlands media, which vanilla WoW will never need hence never download. (Asking non-TBC players to download 1.3GB content they will never need is harsh) Patches that are released will patch both, but vanilla WoW will still not need Outlands media.
It does make me wonder how the Black Temple patch will be handled though - That's definitely a cartload of content that the vanilla WoW guys won't ever need either. Or, how much more complicated things will get after the next expansion? Patch creation is fun. >_>

Yeah, you gotta move them into the same group as the leader apparently. Also, a couple of warlocks I grouped with claimed the same thing for summons, ie back to the old skool style of summoning. Worked aok with meeting stones though.
The leadership should be bounced automagically a few minutes after the leader first DCs though.

Are you thinking of concussive barrage (talent in marksmanship)?
We do know that the beta client can connect to the current live servers and that it has Outlands content on it. We also know that you cannot access that content on the live servers, but we do not know, and Blue refuses to confirm either way, whether its because the account does not have the TBC flag set (which you set by entering the TBC key on the website), or whether the actual client needs to be patched with something that only exists on the TBC disks, or both.
Given what we know:
1) the Live servers are 2.0.3 build 6299
2) the Beta servers are 2.0.3 build 6299
3) the Gold copy of TBC is 2.0.1 and requires a patch
I find it extremely unlikely that the beta client will suddenly not work on the 16th, considering it is already evident that the client is capable of creating BE and Draenei characters, loading up those areas, and entering Outlands and completing all content there. To argue otherwise would require some new build which the beta client is not capable of, which would imply some further patch before retail we have yet to see. Such a patch would have to be implemented on Monday, since the servers are going down at 5am on the 15th and not at all on the 16th, so I guess we'll know by then.
The best thing about this patch is that, while concussive shot don't sound like kidney shot anymore the absolute best thing is that, unlike pre-patch, it doesn't shoot an arrow anymore regardless of what ranged you have. My hunter alt firing off a barrage of heavy artillery with the occasional arrow-swosh was all too lame.
I am so looking for an explanation for the following line in my combat log from tonight:
"1/10 20:36:09.359 Your Judgement of Light heals you for 215."
Melador> Incidentally, these last few pages are why people hate lawyers.
Viator> I really don't want to go all Kalman here.
Bury> Just imagine what the world would be like if you used your powers for good.
I noticed the same behavior in Karazhan. My best guess is that was a self buff of some sort on the trash before midnight, I didn't see it anywhere else.
1.) Faerlina trash has a flashy spell graphic for the aoe push effect.
2.) Heigan feels off. Casters mentioning being manaburned more frequently, distance possibly changed.
3.) Kel'thuzad's a little tweaked. Voids have a much smaller graphic and are much easier to miss when they spawn underneath Tauren. Constant crashes and disconnects, several people at once, usually coinciding with Mind Control, but not always. Only occurs on Kel'thuzad, which feels a little fishy.

Add Hakkar's Mind Control to the list. Saw a post mentioning it was to do with dispelling the Sheep, but our druid tank was disconnected too.
I noticed the change to judgement of light as well. If I judge a mob solo without 2pc redemption, it heals for the normal 61. With 2pc, it heals for 101 instead of 81. But in raids people were saying it was healing for 200+, but I'm not sure what is causing it.
The tooltip for Vampiric Embrace says it's now 30% of shadow dmg -> heal, and then the 2 points in the talent would take it up to 40%. This is not actually happening though, a swp tick of 333 produced a 100 VE heal, which is 30% total.
I'm not sure why they would buff VE in the first place.
