I had forgotten how much level difference affect damage. They didn't hit particularly hard, they would crushing blow me for 300-500 damage, but my own damage was pathetic.
* You melee Unliving Resident for 2 damage (G).
* You sinister strike crit for 400.
At least I was doing damage, I don't think casters were getting any non-resists at all. I think a well geared rogue and a healer are enough to kill them, it just takes a while. I might go back and play more with them this weekend. Super mana and healing pots would be nice to have.
|
I went with some guildies, farmed for a while, got a couple level 65-ish greens, Netherweave cloth, and coin.
It's interesting(sad) that my melee hits for 1-10 on them, but my bow hits for 150-200. Hunters can solo them without too much trouble.

Based on the farming we've done, they drop a ton of level 65-68 Green items, a few Blues of the same level, and one guild on our server happened to get one of the new patterns for the level 70 BoE Epic belts.
We took a 10-man group with about four healers, to try and spread around the fact that heals don't miss and your damage classes probably will. When we tried it with only one healer (me), I pulled aggro on almost every single mob just from healing.
Is it worth farming them now? Only if you're bored. You'll make more gold solo farming level 60 mobs, but then you don't get Netherweave Cloth, fancy new BoE's and Super Health & Mana pots.

The mobs outside of Karazhan can be seen by anyone with the game (assuming they haven't been killed), they were added in the 2.0.3 patch. The ones I saw are 68-70.
|
The mobs at Karazhan were not added with 2.0.3, they existed pre-2.0 as level 58-60 mobs. The levels were increased with the release of 2.0.1.
I tried to kill a lvl 69 unliving caretaker this morning with my mage, the resist rate was increadable and I was unable to get one below 30% (and even that took multiple attempts).
Based on this blue post, base spell hit of a 9 level difference should be 17%. Hmm guess solo farming them as a mage isn't going to work.
|
That doesn't seem right, I was wearing a little over 9% hit gear and couldn't hit one of those mobs (?? ghosts) more than 1-2 times in a row, let alone get one low enough to kill it. I know its a 17% miss for bosses, I thought the figure was different for mobs. I can't check right now though, I'm at work. If someone hasn't said anything by the time I get home I'll try and find it.
From the brief time I spent solo in Deadwind pass it seemed like my chance to hit was closer to 17% rather than chance to miss.
Edit: I'm used to different wording I guess, said the same thing as you. :x

The 17% miss rate for bosses is based on a Playerlevel + 3 scenario. The mobs in Deadwind right now are Playerlevel +8 through Playerlevel +12. Almost every white hit will glance and their dodge/parry/resist rates are probably painfully high.

If you read the post you quoted again that is exactly what was said. 17% chance to hit.

Not to mention the fact that they all have superior AC values since the attacker (you) is so much lower level. You can forget about physical dps or caster dps doing much of anything.
FYI - Rupture works well because it's armor piercing, not because of glancing penalties as someone was talking about earlier.

Yeah, a bunch of us were bored and decided to invade Undercity the other day. Level 65 elites are not fun. Especially fear immune ones.
I'm glad I had a lot of spell hit gear and am affliction spec with suppression. They didn't hit too hard, I ended up drain-tanking them. But they were so hard to kill that when enough spawned we all died. We were hoping for some PvP action but instead got swarmed by guards we couldn't deal with. :(
Usually 10 guards don't kill 12 epic geared players.
On the bright side, using the arena system to instantly (almost) get your body back to a capital is nice.

He said 17% hit not 17% miss. Thats 83% chance to resist, which is consistent with what you guys are saying.

Bring a hunter or two. If they got enough +hit, it's kite, loot, repeat. Went down there with a warrior, mage and myself, got some netherweave and coin, didn't kill many though. Coin drops were in the range of 6-30 silver, cheapass ghosts.

Pre-2.0.3 they only dropped coin and non-TBC stuff, do you think they stealth nerfed the itemization this close to the release? Stranger things have happened, I guess.

It's possible that the mini patch 'disabled' green drops and such over level 60, I guess. I'm just curious, I've never been the luckiest guy in the world, either. :v

^ Is what 2.04 did for me. No idea why a creature model database would start registering 23 columns instead of 17. Whatever the hell that means. Apparently the repair utility doesn't know either, b/c it says nothing's wrong.
I've got a post in WoW-Technical, but within 5 minutes it was already on the second page. I might just go run out, pick up a 6 pack and re-install from the ground up. Though the thought of patching the last (almost) 2 years of stuff frightens me. 8(

Yeah, that 1.x -> 2.0.4 patch should be approximately 600 MB or so, the 1.x EU -> pre 2.0.3 is ~ 500MB. Was a fast download though.

We killed a good amount of the karazhan ghosts today - nothing remarkable outside of netherweave cloth. No greens or better, the greys were typical ones you'd find in UBRS, and no super pots - just majors.

Had a pair of Astralaan Boots of the something or other drop on our server. Green Cloth, 25 int, 22 stam, 23 spelldamage/healing. Or thereabouts. Could be off a little. Required level 65.

Although I only got Netherweave, killing those LVL69s with six or seven Guildies was superb-awesome. New content! New mobs! An actually new area to explore!
I ended up pulling three ghosties because I was so eager to jump into that hole in the cellar. :)

We got a few greens, the ones I remember are: a ring, like 15 int, 15 damage/heal, 15 spell crit; and plate gloves of arcane resistance - 27 resistance and 41 stamina. Everything sharded into arcane dust or some new type of shards. We also had I think it was some kind of jewelcrafting ingredient drop. Don't remember what's it called.

The 2.04 patch actually broke the ability to use LFG for some elite quests. That's not good with the xpack 3 days away.
