It's a very big difference. 3000 damage every three seconds is trivial to heal, while 30000 damage with a 10% chance of hitting every 3 seconds is impossible.

So I'm confused about how druid bearform hp is calculated now. It says it gives you an increase of 25% to your health. My friend's druid goes from 3899 in caster form to 5503 in bear form. Thats well over 25%. Anyone know what gives?

Does said druid have Heart of the Wild? Provides a 20% stamina boost when in bear form.

Exactly. For PvE tanking it is the same scenerio as PvE damage dealing in reverse. You want to maximize mitigation while minimizing variance. Dodge and Parry are only really desirable because they become cheap; if you could take a flat damage reduction over a percent chance of complete damage reduction (being equal over time) you'd be a fool to take the second option. Of course, that would be boring though so there is a vested interest in maintaining interest in variable damage reduction abilities and I'm pretty glad about that. Completely predictable damage would be insanely bland.

Urge... to turn... into Patchwerk thread... rising...
Has anyone run into the Kruul guy yet? I'm interested if he's an entirely new design raid boss with a new loot table only available for this world event, like the Scourge Invasion 5-man bosses.

From what I have been told, he is exactly Kazzak, with exactly Kazzak's loot table.

Anyone found thaddius to be bugged? We used to move him to the side and the tank can't seem to get him now. Might've been a fluke bug though.

One wonders why they didn't leave Kazzak where he is and make the Outlands guy "Doom Lord Kruul" instead of playing swapsy with raid boss names and skins.

Don't ruin my illusions of WoW having an evolving gameworld with a timeline :(
Still I wonder, has Kazzak's lore been fleshed out in BC with him being an Outland raidboss or was he just implemented because Outland needed a worldboss ?

What the hell? Did I read that right? You're not going to get 100 energy from a thistle tea at 60 anymore?

Yes, the higher your level, the less energy you get back. I believe it's 60 energy at lvl 60 and 40 energy at lvl 70.

I'm not sure if this was just changed since I haven't been playing my priest much, but despite what the tooltip says, surge of light can crit and proc off itself. Imagine my surprise when I pretty much instantly 3-shot a mage.

It was like this in Beta over the Christmas weekend. I'm happy to see this didn't get fixed, Surge of Light is much more fun than I ever thought it would be. It isn't a 'must have' talent IMO, just fun.

I didn't see this mentioned. I assume it's because not too many people are raiding this week.
Targetting is completely FUBAR. The Blizzard Raid UI is busted. If you attempt to promote/remove/make leader someone in your raid there's 95% chance that it will either do nothing or perform the action on someone else. We had a lot of fun trying to remove a person who had to leave early from the raid when he was offline. I'd try to kick him, it would boot someone else. We had other people with A's try it. Someone else at random would get kicked. Obviously we put loot on free. You can just imagine what masterloot would have done. This problem affects mob targetting also. Often the mob tooltip will just disappear and it's almost impossible to tell what you have targetted.
Best patch change though. Razorgore's adds are reportedly continuing to spawn after phase 1 is over, lol. I almost wanted to leave Naxx just to see that.

What's really messed up about the druid threat change (aside from being absolute clones of warriors, especially as lacerate does up-front innate threat like sunder) is that it utterly fubars the current bear-tank itemization. Now druid tank gear has a ton of STR on it that no one needs or wants--we're warriors now, give us warrior itemization. =/

Saw what Gorb is talking about tonight, though it doesn't affect Master Looter, as we used this tonight and it went fine. It seems to use something else.
What's really funny though, is that the same thing happend with the guild UI! Opening up someone's tab and hitting the promote button promotes a random person in the guild. What I noticed with the Raid UI was that it was limited to about 6 people (in a 20-man) who would always get promoted. Whoever you chose, it would be one of those, and demoting the person you supposedly just promoted always demoted the actual person.

The last patch applied to the Beta, and the one on the PTR, was build 6244. This is a newer build than was on any of those servers. I'm suggesting that the change is new because I suspect that someone would have noticed such a major change even if it wasn't in the patch notes. In any case, this build is NOT precisely the same one that was on the PTR.
Also, I was pointing out that Lacerate would be useless against a large percentage of current raid bosses and extrapolating that it will likely suffer the same way in the expansion. You don't need to be psychic to intelligently use the past to predict a general idea about the future.

You are simply wrong, current Beta client says 6299 at login screen.

Then the latest build of beta is new since Dec. 24th just after the PTR's came up. The last time I updated PTR and Beta clients was on the 24th when the PTR came up and I have build 6244. My apologies.
Edit: When was the last time you patched the Beta client?

Ideally.. no
Even looking at the current gear available on beta, bear and cat sets are very distinct. You can produce a set that's "decent" at either (about 5th or 6th down the chain for regular slots, 10th for cloak/rings/trinkets/neck) but if you want to be truly good at one or the other, you have to gear up seperately.
