Of course it is stupid suggestion. But a lot of people in remote location are looking for an option to obtain CD key online and then DL client or something like that. In that case having a Beta client could save time downloading and installing.

Is it even feasible that TBC CD will have things that people who opt to not buy the expansion don't get?
I mean if I don't buy TBC, is it possible that people who have the expansion have the outlands on their hard drives and I don't?
I assumed the 2.0.1 patch was what is going to be on TBC CD, and just upgrading the account (and "opening" the new areas on the server) is all that is required to make it possible to play in the outlands.
A blue post even stated we should keep our 2.0.1 > 2.0.3 patches because the expansion CDs are pre 2.0.3.
Edit: "The" TBC

Quietly, they collapsed all the shooting buttons into a general Shoot button. There's still a Throw button as well, so throw wasn't rolled in.

Oh thank god. I was just thinking about about to do a conditional macro that would just use whatever item I happened to have equipped at the time. Sadly one of my 3 current pieces is a thrown weapon, so I will still have to worry about it, but now I wont have to have different ones for tanking gear and dps gear.

The profanity filter toggle option has been moved to the advanced tab, under chat options in the interface options menu.
I thought it was gone altogether for a few minutes when I first logged in.

Blue has hinted that the Invasion event does not begin and end with AOE spamming at the Portal itself. I'm hoping we see the entire zone overrun, the gates of Nethergarde itself battered against.
Come to think, the quest giver notes that they're just holding the line until the Horde/Alliance armies get there. Hopefully things will get more epic at that point.
I'm going to check out Nethergarde when I get home :)

Does anyone know of a site that tracks old stats for items as well as current ones? I've been reading that epic shields were buffed armor-wise and block-wise but I don't know whether I'm seeing the old numbers or the new ones at thottbot, wowhead, etc. Plus it'd just be interesting.

Yes, they got buffed. The old Red Dragonscale Protector on Thott shows at 2787 armor -- although I'm not in the game atm, I recall someone linking it last night and it was somewhere in the range of 3200-3300?

Allakhazam has a list of all the changes made to items in the past, I forget how to access them, but I don't remember it being hard.
When Naxx came out on PTR I remember some websites having listings of all the different versions of the T3 pieces, I forget what site that was though.

I was shield shopping for a while and I noticed that you could flip-flop between live and beta on thott to do a comparison, not sure if you can still do that.
The Aegis of the Bloodgod and the "PVP" obsidian shield got buffed up. I think the obsidian shield gained 350+ armor (over 3k now) and about 15-20 more block (up to 67). Both became very respectable for an alt turned main. :)

From flipping between thot "live" and "beta" it looks like all epic shields might have gotten buffed. I checked Buru's and Elementium Reinforced Bulwark, but I can't log in to check in the game.

Can someone logged in test this? Supposedly a lot of epic shields were buffed in armor/block value.
Buru Shield:
old: 2575 Armor/47 Block
new: 2959 Armor/61 Block
Elementium Bulwark:
old:2893 Armor/54 Block
new: 3325 Armor/71 Block

Didn't find it in the Patch Notes, but Find Herbs is picking up the Songflowers/Whipper Root Tubers/etc. in felwood.
And the Razorgore encounter worked normally for us.

I'm about 90% sure that theyjust did another stealth change to the AC formula which leaves you at more or less exactly the DR you were at before the change.

Yes, I found that out just today. I guess I'm lucky that we'll be moving back to the USA this weekend after having been in Europe for the past year.
On the other hand, I have no idea how strongly Blizzard will enforce this part of the agreement and what their rationale is; specifically, the terms of use do not make an exception for members of the military stationed abroad, and denying soldiers and their families access to the US servers could make for bad press.

Anyone have a link online to a current copy or any discussions that talk about this? I am concerned as some guildmates and friends of mine are from South America. The TOS always said to be elligible you had to be from certain countries, but they never enforced it. Is there new language now indicating they are going to watch people using it outside the intended region more closely?

There's some pretty stupid comments being posted about this subject over at the WoW forums. As a member of the military myself, I would caution people to not be too upset about this, it'll will be cleared up shortly. There's not a business in America that would take a stance like that.

Someone in my guild figures the TOS change is mainly aimed at Chinese farmers operating on US servers. This way they can just ban them for playing from another country rather than sorting out if they're playing with illegal mods and the like. I thought it was a pretty good take on it. Hopefully they'll leave it unenforced for the most part.

Mages have a set time that they want you to ask for food, and that time is pull #4 of the night. You may notice them putting a little snack table down before the raid, that's them cooking the food for you to demand on pull 4. --Nork

It's going to be no-go. CMs are reporting that you MUST have the CD in order to load the Xpack.
http://blue.cardplace.com/newcache/us/64816496.htm
Edit - the blue post says there is content on the CDs that is not in the patches or the beta. I wonder if this means that there really are more items out there that have not been data mined yet?

Nowhere do they mention the Beta.
We do know that the beta client can connect to the current live servers and that it has Outlands content on it. We also know that you cannot access that content on the live servers, but we do not know, and Blue refuses to confirm either way, whether its because the account does not have the TBC flag set (which you set by entering the TBC key on the website), or whether the actual client needs to be patched with something that only exists on the TBC disks, or both.

He meant to install BC you need the actual CD.
O btw, apparently changing weapons will trigger the GCD now which it didn't do before. Can anyone confirm this as a change or a bug?

The beta client has multiple expansion MPQ files that the live client doesn't have ranging from 15MB up to 1.3GB in size, there's a fairly huge amount of expansion content that the live client doesn't have.
The reason the beta client can connect to the live servers is so that non TBC flagged accounts can still log in and use non TBC content on a computer that has a TBC client installed.

This also makes me wonder if they did not infact release the "wrong" patch for 2.0.1 (the client was different from the PTR, Beta), but they just released the client that was on the CD. So the PTR/Beta was newer but they needed the 2.0.1 version out live?

Its not a big deal. But consider the scenario of a friend in New Zealand purchasing a copy of TBC for you and sending you the key in email. You could conceivably get access to the expansion almost a day earlier than you would otherwise. Yes, there are a lot of implied "IF"s in this scenario, but its still fun to consider whether something like that would be possible.
