I read somewhere that base warrior tanking AP was going down from 800 to 600 in BC. Even if its not going down its not going up by much.
But the inherent threat from talents goes up with ranks in general.
So while before some people might have say, put crusader on their weapon as a tank enchant to increase threat instead of something like 15ag which increases avoidance, im not sure that anything like that is at all valuable now.
OR take tanking weapons: People evaluate them based on: base dps, speed, stats on them, and procs they have. But in BC im feeling that base dps will be less of a consideration in evaluating potential upgrades to tanking weapons. Going from a 60dps weapon to a 90dps one? so 30 more dps, subtract mob DR and you dont get that much more threat.
Now you might say that more base dps would mean more rage to use on abilities and that might be a good point except that with the rage normalization it seems that as long as your within an acceptible range your not going to see much rage increase increaseing base dps out of that band. Maybe tanking with a mining pick wouldnt be that bad :-p
I believe he is referring to the amount of strength of the expansion tank gear we've seen thus far, specifically lack thereof.
Doing more DPS to generate threat as a tank has never been a concern of mine. Threat generation via abilities, and mitigation via mitigation stats has always been more important.
