Since the other UI threads deal predominantely with addon compilations to optimize the largescale raiding process, I thought it may be interesting to make one specifically dedicated to deal with the leveling and smallgroup environment that we all will have to face now that TBC is out.

I completely deleted my addon folder for a fresh start and intend to keep it as slim as possible for now (it will "fatten up" surely soon enough anyway *sigh*). So what are the addons you would deem important to help you out on your way to lvl 70.

The frist thing that came to my mind was of course a map addon. New zones, new dungeons surely offer a lot of oppurtunituies to get lost, so a map addon seems crucial to me. Before TBC I have just used Atlas and Atlas Loot, but I think with all the new zones it is time to for something more advanced. I have thought about Cartographer or Metamap, but have no experience with either so far. Any thoughts on this?

The second thing that is absolutely indispensable is an inventory management system, since my beloved Bagnon produces irritating error messages now. So please save me from the nightmare that is Blizzards standard inventory system.

Oh, apropos inventory: this is probably a incredibly stupid question to ask, but when was keyring nerfed to 4 slots for a lvl 60 char (using Bagnon I had it always hidden for inventory display, so I have never noticed that it was reduced in size).

I'm not an addict ... maybe that's a lie.

I would happily recomend Kaetlan's OneBag - It's at the usual places, and provides a single bag view. There's also bank and "other character" options available if you download the OneBank and OneView components.

Cartographer is quite nice - in particular the option to change alpha's I find to be indispensible. I love being able to open my map without losing the ability to keep running towards an npc or some such. It also lets you remove the "fog of war" if you have to find something you may not have opened up yet.

Another addon I'd recomend is FuXPFu, which was concepted by Bant, and provides a very visually appealing xp glow and highlight border for Fubar, with a hoverable icon on your fubar to see numbers. If you're going to be tossing the blizzard buttons (which you should consider, although you certainly don't have to) it's a good stand in for the built in xp bar.

Also, I'd really recomend squeenix. It's a square minimap addon that lets you move your minimap, and/or change alphas. This lets you reposition it towards the part of your screen you focus on, instead of the top right corner. Very helpful to let you keep up with that conversation in guild chat while still running towards the dot.

The last two addon's I'd reccomend are both tooltip related. The first is ItemLevel which provides the item level for any item you have a link for in the tooltip. I found it useful to compare two blues that were relatively close in overall stats quickly, and it helped me get a feel for what an ilvl 115 blue should look like. This latter part is especially helpful for guilds that build their raiding points systems off ilvl (as many do). The other is RatingBuster - which tells you how much crit/hit/defense etc an item's rating is worth at your current level. While those of us who've been playing the beta for a while have this burned on our retina, this is how we burned it there for the folks who haven't been staring at changing ratings.

That's all off the top of my head. I'd have recomended musicstream, but blizzard broke it.

First star to the right, and straight on till morning.

I recommend OneBag as well, along with Sanity2 for bank database and organizing those item stacks.

Fu_GarbageFu For quick vendoring of gray trash (get price database as well if you don't have Auctioneer installed)

For priests, when you get Shadow Word: Death, you'll definitely want MobHealth3 installed (and optionally MobHealth3_BlizzardFrames if you are using default Blizzard frames, default package supports only ag_UnitFrames and such).

I'd like to second both cartographer and OneBag. I also use OneBankBag, which does what you'd expect.

I've not had experience with Squeenix, but I also prefer the square minimap setup.

I tried getting more informatio on MobHealth3 from the link, however I didn't get a good overview. However, I've used MobInfo2 for a long time, and in addition to showing mob health, it also has a load of extra tooltip information, including drops, XP, rep, and others.

And for your sell price database, you don't need the whole auctioneer suite to be installed, you can make do with just the informant addon. http://www.auctioneeraddon.com/dl/Informant/

Thanks a lot for the mentions to RatingsBuster and FuXPFu, they're very helpful.

At the end of the 2.0 UI thread, there was some discussion on a questlog addon. I've used monkeyquest for a long time, but there was a suggestion of the fubar questlog addon. I'm going to give it a try, but I definitely recommend 1 of the 2, if only for the tooltip add in for "quest item"

For you hunters out there, I find these to be helpful

I tried Onebag for awhile, and while it's a good add-on I personally never really liked the "one big pane with all my items" approach of this or the other inventory add-ons. While I was using OneBag to test it out though I did find MrPlow a great help as it will re-org and re-sort your bags for you when you use it.

However, I dropped OneBag after trying out Baggins. It's a great mod that by default opens bags with differing sorted categories (which I prefer). Lots of customization for new bags and filtering and it's easy to access if you're using FuBar. This as well as the aforementioned Sanity2 have solved all my inventory management blues :)

I'd definitely recommend FuBar. It's a panel mod with tons of useful little plugins made by other authors.

Anyone else use EquipCompare? It shows the box of stats for whatever you're currently wearing in the same slot as any item link you click on, whether from chat, profession menu, loot roll box or whatever. I haven't actually played in over a month, but I always found it indispensable since I am not so good at remembering the exact stats on my gear, particularly while leveling and frequently replacing things.

Definitely have to agree with Cartographer for at least the ability to remove the "fog of war". The smaller world map is great as well. Thanks for the tip on Cartographer_Scribe.

Keyrings are now dynamic. If you only see 4 slots then that's because you only have 4 or less keys on your character. But since they added more items to the key list it's a good place to store all your koffer keys for BRD or a spare Viewing Room key for Scholo.
Fun fact: when deciding whether or not you need more space on your keyring, it doesn't look to see if all the slots are filled, just the lower-right one. Put a key in the lower-right slot, close, and re-open, you'll get a new row. Rinse and repeat. Maxes out at 32 (8x4). Not useful, but mildly amusing.

On-topic -- I'll second (third?) MobHealth3 and RatingBuster. I'm trying really hard to stay light, so I'm only using those and Telo's Info Bar (I believe is the name) which gives you time, mouseover for exp/hour; gold, mouseover for gold/hour; and coordinates. (I take it back; I use a few others, but they're not leveling-centric so I'll omit them.)

I still haven't been able to find a bag addon that does everything I like and displays things in a way that doesnt annoy me--but this has been helpful: otravi_LightsUp. Bag search with regexp support.

I've yet to find a good exp mod. Not one that shows kills till level or whatever, just a simple one that shows the precent and is resizable.

ExperienceFu just shows XP percentage on your Fubar. I don't think it is resizable though.

Thanks for the Scribe tip for Cartographer, definately becoming one of my favorite mods.

Some I like:

- vBagnon. Lets you hide your empty slots so your "full bag view" is just all items in your bag (also lets you hide any other category, like shards, ammo, etc). Very difficult imo to configure but worth it.

- Automaton. Automate vendoring greys, repairing, and tons more.

- Fubar + locationFu, moneyFu, clockFu, experienceFu, DurabilityFu

- Ludwig. lightweight item history database (uses your cache file instead of creating its own list). Nice to go back and search for stuff you saw and link.

- Dotimer. great for people with lots of dots/hots and cooldown abilities.

- ShardAce. lightweight necrosis for warlocks

- Extended Quest Log v3. Double pane quest log with movable quest tracker

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I've installed the OneBag package together with Plow and it seems to work fine, only the OneView module gives out an error message when you open it.

Cartographer with Inscriber is great. I already see how it will save me hours after hours of searching for questing locations. Great addon for efficient questing.

I've also picked up some of the other smaller addons you suggested, like Autoprofit, Mobinfo etc. A lot of useful stuff :)

I'm not an addict ... maybe that's a lie.

For experience:
Fuexp, really good

For Bag management:
*Baggins: not *so* bad, as i never liked the One bag way of life
*Possessions: nobody knows about this so light add on with research in all bags/characters (curse)

*Mr Plow: sort-bank stacking, etc etc, quasi perfect!

I'm looking for something to manage the jewelcrafting, as i'm 300 now, borring to whisp every 2 minutes the gemmes (what do you have in red for a healer, etc etc)

EquipCompare is an improved version of the old EQCompare, definitely a must have along with RatingBuster to make your tooltips good.

vBagnon and I get along quite well for my onebag/bank needs.

simpleMinimap for map manipulation.

For the most part, my transition from a raiding to leveling UI was a process of turning things *off* - IMBA, raidframes, DamageMeters, etc. - I pretty much have been leveling with what I raid with, with the raid-specific parts trimmed out.

Cartographer/Scribe looks quite, quite useful to me; thanks for the heads up!

Can you clarify about the "fog of war"?

I am using MozzFullWorldMap for the world map. Shows areas I have yet to discover in teal, but shows all unexplored areas.

I am also using the MonkeyQuest addons for my quest mods.

Fog of war is more of an older gaming reference. If your map shows areas that you have not been to yet, then that map is showing you locations which would normally be unexplored or under the "fog of war".

TrainerFu found at wowace is an awesome addon that also works without Fubar. It keeps track of the skills you can learn when you level up, be it profession or class trainers. So when you ding 62 you can check what skills are avaible and decide if it's worth to abandon your current grind/quest to go train or if it can wait. It also marks trainers on cartographer.

Uziel: cartographer does what MozzFullWorldMap does but at, i think, lower memory and still providing alot more options.

Regarding Bag Addons - has anyone found anything that's as good as Discord MiniPanels? I'm hoping it eventually sees the light of 2.0 as a DUB plugin. Right now vBagnon has been my Inventory of choice, with Sanity2 as a helper.

See you, auntie.

I need an experience add on as well. I'm only interested in teh basics, a display of a bar, %, whatever, but I'll take what I can get. I do not run FuBar. What is recommended?
