Draenei hit aura: Working as intended?

So I got into a bit of a scuffle over on the official mage forums, a thread regarding whether or not the draenei melee/spell hit aura was affecting the draenei as intended (according to the tooltip). The issue obviously is that while heroic/inspiring presence shows up on the party members, it does not show up on the locus draenei.

Is it likely that passive auras in general just do not show up as buffs on the caster? (threat auras come to mind). Or is it possible that the ability is just bugged? I was assaulted for suggesting, you know, TESTING the ability, but I guess that's what I get for posting over there.

Link is http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...sid=1&pageNo=1 , if anyone was curious.

You posted this twice. Anyway, I have observed the spell hit aura working as intened (via Recap).

I don't know why the aura doesn't show on the character sheet though.

Yeah, I didn't post it twice but when I edited the post to add the link the forum created a second post, for whatever reason.

I'm guessing it doesn't show on the char sheet for the same reason the warrior hit talent doesn't (didn't?); whatever that may be.

'As intended' being inclusive of the player?

The tooltip suggests that the aura affects "you and your party." So yes.

As far as i know %hit increases dont show up in the "hit rating" section of the sheet because they are in fact, not hit rating. You are still getting the benefit however.

And this is the underlying inconsistency.

Hit Rating.

Crit Chance.

It's pretty self-explanatory.

Keline 02/26/07 11:58 AM

yeah crit definatly does, but hit % from talents does not.

What Eej is saying is that (for ranged at least) the char sheet displays crit %, but hit rating. Talents increase hit and crit %, not hit and crit rating. Hence crit talents show up on character sheet since they change your crit %, but hit talents do not, since they don't affect hit rating.

I've never understood why they make the sheet show rating as the default value for hit, it seems to defeat the point of the character sheet. I don't really need to know what my total hit rating is, I need to know what my chance to hit is.

This functions for melee as well. Hit Rating/Crit Chance. The rogue talent Precision (5% hit) doesn't show up on the character sheet, presumably because it is a percentage not a rating.
