As soon as you got the recipe, did you bake up 25 cakes for the evening's celebration?

Yeah, have to factor in how much gold you save every raid from not having to buy arrows.

Just today I was looking to see if anyone had downed Kil'jaeden yet, hoping to view the weapons and stats. Someone had a screenshot of the bow from the PTR and the first thing that came to mind was "If only EJ would kill that thing, we'll get stats on it so I can drool from afar."
*wide-eyed shock at seeing The Bow on the front page!*
It's like double vindication. After slaving and slaving to get those damn glaives in BT, Gonk gets his bow on the First Kill!!!!! Thank you Kil'jaeden for giving EJ a most shiny cookie And confirming that all loot should be hunter loot.
And congratulations EJ, well done!

Holy god. You're not kidding when you say EJ is a tightly-knit group of friends, then. Every guild I've ever raided with or even spoken with would erupt in great geysers of drama under that kind of system.
How the fuck do you dodge the "No fair, you won the last thing" kind of issues? Or is it basically godloot where the person who can make the case that they'd get the most upgrade gets the item?

We're adults? I'd rather one of my co-paladins get something than if its a minor upgrade to me. I expect and get the same myself. It's about progression and the group. Also, it's not like stuff won't drop next week.
If seeing someone else get a huge upgrade doesn't make you as excited about our raid progression then getting it yourself then EJ isn't the right raid group for you.

What Zoid said. Here's some great examples -- the gloves turn into [Gloves of Tyri's Power] -- really really good for me. However our holy priests have been great earlier in the zone passing stuff like the Kalecgos legs, and sat for M'uru so the chest went to shadow priests. It was really a no brainer to let the gloves go to the holy priests, what goes around comes around.
The other example was I actually won the roll on the head. It was primarly a joke roll, because that item should clearly go to mages/locks over shadow priests. Different logic applied to the cloak, which I did not roll on -- truth be told, I already had people pass a nice item to me (Twins neck) and I'm simply returning the favor in kind. I'm genuinely just as happy for Manly to get it that I would have been. We're all in this together.
I was also so giddy when I saw the bow. Truth be told, Gonk's an awesome hunter. Just don't tell him I said this or I'll have to kill you.

I want to express my appreciation and thanks for being allowed to experience this amazing content with EJ. As Gurg said, I also am looking forward very much to Wotlk, the last few Sunwell encounters in particular demonstrate just how exact Blizzard is capable of tuning content to even the most organized and competent groups of individuals.

Huge respect for you guys, to be performing at this sort of a cutting edge level as a guild (given your raid schedule) is phenomenal. Congratulations! Look forward to seeing Elitist Jerks (both the guild and forums community) thrive in WotLK =)

The sad thing is this type of logic for the most part doesn't exist in World of Warcraft (outside of the EJ forums, I suppose).
Regardless, congratz on the kill, fellas. Hopefully you all can find some way to amuse yourselves until Lich King comes out!

You might be surprised how common this is in the "elite" guilds at the present time. The players in an advanced Sunwell guild at this point are generally a self-selected group of people who are putting content over personal interests on a lot of levels, more so than ever before. Everyone is more apt to understand that with only 25 players and far less of each class, everyone will get want they want sooner or later. Legendaries might be the exception, but again most guilds with a seniority system generally know where everything is going long before the RNG throws it on the table.
It's somewhat interesting given the various DKP debates and stereotypes that have circulated in the last three years, but I'd wager that second-tier and lower guilds are actually the ones who have the largest issues with their loot systems at present.

Word, think about how long we'll be farming this content, and then consider why anyone in the guild would care that much about loot. We have 6 months of time to put together multiple sets of Sunwell gear. Why care about loot, when you can just beat it fast and insure that the items will have a good amount of time to be fairly distributed.

This is true. DKP solves the problem of loot distribution when you have unequal attendance or participation. When you have a guy who raids 100% and a guy who raids 50%, a "fair" loot distribution is a lot more complex to determine.
At the high end, everyone generally participates equally, making DKP unnecessary for the most part.

Most WoW raid guilds.
Grats EJ on beating the game, and more things to poke fun at Gonk.

Know Thy group function; Thy DPS shall avoid aggro, Thy tank shall not attempt to DPS (Fixed in WotLK!), and Thy Healer shall not go AFK without notifying Thy group.

Why Hunters suffer...
How can you help?
I can shoot things and then make my pet move toward them.

Why Benefactor's Bar is better (worse?) than you...
