Best Stat Buff Loot EVER – The Alienware Online Gaming PC

I am very pleased to announce that Elitist Jerks has teamed up with Alienware and Bigfoot Networks to offer a unique contest to all our community members. Alienware, long-time stalwarts of the high-end PC market, and Bigfoot Networks, makers of the Killer NIC gaming network card, are providing you with a chance to win this lovely machine:

Aurora Value Gaming Desktop PC
  • AMD® Phenom™ 9950 Black Edition Processor w/ HyperTransport and Quad Core Technology
  • 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 Memory at 800MHz
  • 512MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 4870 Video Card
  • 250GB 7,200 RPM - 16MB cache Hard Drive
  • Killer NIC™ K1 Gaming Network Card
  • 7.1/5.1 Digital High-Definition Audio (8 Channel) Sound Card
The only things required are that you be a registered member of Elitist Jerks and that you complete the following form: Best Stat Buff Loot EVER – The Alienware Online Gaming PC

Please note that you may only enter once (members with multiple entries will be disqualified from winning) and this contest is only open to our members from the United States (sorry world, shipping costs and whatnot), and also make sure to read the Terms and Conditions above the submission form*. This contest will run from Tuesday, February 3rd to Tuesday, February 17th.

Thanks once again to our generous donors!

*In case you actually read those T&Cs: please pay close attention to the statement in our Privacy Policy that states, "We will not sell, trade, or rent your personally identifiable information to others outside of Elitist Jerks." Only the prize winner's qualifying data will be given to Alienware/Bigfoot to complete the shipment of the actual prize package.

That's pretty cool. The first real PC I ever bought for myself was a low-end Alienware box

Awww I can't enter. Dell/Alienware Employees can't play. That really sucks, because that's a really nice system.

"By entering the sweepstakes, entrants and prize winners grant Sponsor permission to use his or her name, address, email address, photograph and likeness, voice and entry for advertising, publicity or other purposes without additional consent or compensation except where prohibited by law."

That is some impressive fine print there.

My vanity is justified.

I agree to the fine print, but only if they let me say "Dude, you're getting a spreadsheet."

Yikes. And if 20K of EJ's 125K member base submit an entry, then the actual value of this "free" offer to you is about 10 cents (0.005% chance of winning the $1900 prize).

Of course, 20K is a bit on the high side of expected entries, since EJ never has more than about 6K members online at any one time... and once people (like me) read your post there will be even fewer people entering, thus raising the value of the offer.

Now I need to go calculate the value of my time lost to making this post instead of doing work.

It's fairly standard for contests.

Yeah, that's not surprising in the slightest.

Actually this line was somewhat redundant as earlier they make a statement that says that the promotion, etc. only applies to the prize winner. I have removed the above statement from the T&Cs since I am collecting the information personally and will not be handing any information over to Alienware/Bigfoot except the contest winner's qualifying data.

You all have nothing to fear.

Dios is far too busy in his current post of Serious Casual Recruitment Officer.

Yeah because that was really my point. If you check the other hardware along with that harddrive and knew anything about it you would know what I meant.

The Hard Drive is probably just a standard SATA2 HDD, which isn't horrible, other than the obscenely small size they threw in there. The CPU is a let down for sure, but considering it would all be free? Gut the thing and sell the parts lol. In most cases with Alienware the name and case are what you're paying for. It's still a fairly powerful PC given the nice GPU and solid amount of RAM.
