Guild Composition for (hardcore) PvE guilds in TBC

Hey,

I was currently wondering what a good guildsetup would be for TBC raiding. I'm most interested in hearing this from guilds that have allready cleared Karazhan and Gruul's Lair (or more).

I've read that alot of TBC encounters require like 5 of a certain class, to make the encounter easier. Picked something up somewhere that Magtheridon requires like 5 tanks and 5 paladins (for FR aura) and also heard some strange numbers for Serpentshrine caverns.

So my opinion seems to be atm, that you need at least 5 of each class, with a high raidattendance..

What do you think?

Shamans have this fancy thing called a Fire Resistance Totem as well. Also tanks is not really defined by a single class, 5 tanks sounds like a lot if you think of it as a single class, but is very reasonable if divided over at least two classes.

Optimal class distributions for certain encounters is one thing, but optimal guild setups . . . ? Depends entirely on the texture of your guild, what attendance is like, how much redundancy you have in certain areas, etc. For example: My guild has two active druids and two active shamans. This works out fine, because they all have 100% attendance. Does this mean that your guild should only have two members representing each of these classes? Probably not. But, hey, it works for us.

Bottom line: The only meaningful response anyone can give you is "take a look at your guild and figure out your situation for yourself." This is a particularly bad topic to start a thread on.

Yes ofcourse,

But assuming all members have a 80%-90% raidattendance.

I'm a quite puzzled by how Blizzard expects us to keep guilds organized with 10-man raiddungeons and 25-man raid encounters that sometimes require "unbalanced" setups.

For Maulgar for example it's easier if you have "more" healers. But then for Gruul you need "more" DPS. So I'm assuming you still need about the same guildsize for raiding guilds atm, as you needed for them pre-TBC and 40-man dungeons. You could offcourse let your members respec for different encounters, but doing this for every single encounter doesn't seem like a solution either.

I think you answered your own question. Different encounters, and future encounters favor specific setups. There is no standardized listing saying each guild requires 3priests, 3druids, 2shaman, and 4 paladins. You work with what you have, Assess your own needs, and recruit from there.
