Scarab lord, still attainable?

Sorry, wanted to make topic in shit heap but its locked.

I am finishing my aq opening quest, finished 2 pieces of scepter, got last pages yesterday and my elementium, all whats left for me is to kill the sharky boss. Here is the question.
If I finish it, will I still get the rank? I know that mount is not attainable, but rank? Searching official forums or google didnt help ^.^

P.S.
In the end, migrated on server with closed gates and got my mount and rank. Wee!

Im pretty sure that only the first person on the server to get the questline finished gets the rank.

Not really. Title comes as package deal together with the mount and weapon. And anybody can get the mount if they rang a gong within 10 hours of event start.

Edit - right, i totally forgot that you can weapon anytime, since NPC is still there.

I have completed the Sceptre quest line (long after opening of AQ gates) and I can confirm you get the weapon, but do NOT get either the mount or the title. If you read the patch notes from Blizzard it does specifically mention that the title is only availablew to the 'first' person only.

Not what you're looking for, but it should still be attainable if you roll on a new server with the gates still closed. Hell, all things considering, it's fully possible on some of them that no-one will have done the questline by the time the new server opens to transfers- locate one of those, convince your guild to transfer over, get title and mount.

Those that rang the AQ gong will be able to access this title. The reason that this title is not something everyone can earn is two-fold:

First, we want these types of titles to be very unique and special in nature.

Second, we have a limited amount of slots in which to have titles available to people (thus why everyone can't just choose any PvP title they wish.) So, we want to continue to make titles available, have room to add new and unique titles and keep them as special as possible.

Overall, we intend to add titles to the system for various things where we can. Some will be very, very specialised such as the Scarab Lord title and others will be more accessible via such things as the Arena system provided you earn it by climbing the ladder.

Over those two links you provided I havent found any noticing of the first-only basis of the rank

Teaelle already answered your question, but the text specifically says "Those that rang ..", not "Those that rings ..". To me that is a reference to the original gongers.

Server crashes created a bit of confusion back then, but I'm reasonably certain that my co-leader wasn't the first, but rang the gong a few minutes after the opening event was started and he got the title, so it should be everyone within the first 10 hours (AKA those who would be eligible for legendary mount).

I think the patch notes made it very clear that those who rang the gong later than that would not gain the title.

This is wrong. As far as I can tell, the title "scarab lord" goes to ANYONE with the legendary mount, though the list may include as many as anyone who has completed the questline.

I can confirm that I have the title, and I wasn't the first on the server to Bang a Gong!

You have to ring the gong while the event is still going on if you want the mount and title. Really, how hard is it to understand?

Moments after a server crash during the AQ event, I rang the gong second, immediately after an Alliance player. Another guild member rang the gong within another few minutes.

We all received the mount. I received the title, our other guild member did not. He is not sure why he didn't and has submitted numerous petitions to no avail. I have no idea whether this is Blizzard policy or simply a mistake.

I'm not sure whether Alliance guy received the title, either. AFAIK he had already quit by the time the event took plate and someone else was playing his character.

The OPs course of action is clear: transfer off to a new server that has not opened the gates yet, ring the gong, wait 3 months, and return home to much fan fair and greetings. Seriously. Do it.

Sure, I will do that, but there is no single server with closed aq gates. And fresh servers are closed for transfering for 6 months, in which the gates will auto-open.

In response to Natural - I rang the gong on Ursin, within a minute of an Alliance turning it in - we had both completed the scepter on the same day about an hour apart, we set a server-wide opening time and he went first since he finished first. (Basically he got his name broadcast across the server and that was his perk for being first) We all got the title though. I have it now even after transferring servers and I was definitely not the first one to ring the gong.

Anyways, the NPC that gave you the mount (and in effect, the title) isn't the same one that now gives the weapons. The mount NPC is no longer in the game once the gong has been rung. Fun fact - those of us who first range the gong didn't even get to collect the weapons until after the 10 hour window, I had to log back on the next morning to get mine.

Its one of the few things in game that makes me do a big double take as someone runs by on the bug mount. Ashbringer would do the same, but I never saw the EJ held one (who has that btw?) running around Orig. I think that, being noticed by just about everyone, is the big perk of the bug mount.

The Nightmare mount is pretty cool too. Its like a malnutrition version of the warlock mount!

That is a hell of a question. I assume it would have been big news when someone completed that quest(?) or got another drop to do with Ashbringer.

Pretty sure blue said the naxx ashbringer would have nothing to do with the legendary one... if a legendary version even exists outside of MPQs. Then again, I heard you can fish up the legendary one in AV... and I also heard that C'Thun has a third phase... wow wiki knows more than I do. Better bookmark that.
