[Warlock] Fixing my PVE gear's gems

Alright, let me start this off by saying... my hit is INSANELY low.

Before the Veiled Noble Topaz gems were out, I basically decided as an Affliction Warlock that the Potent Noble Topaz gems wouldn't really be worth it for me. I wasn't too worried about HP either so I opted for Runed Living Rubies instead of Glowing Nightseye. So, pretty much every single gem I have is Runed Living Ruby. I love the 1200 unbuffed Shadow damage... however, constant Shadowbolt resists are extremely annoying.

I picked up the tier 5 helm last night and it brought my hit down even more, I have 74 hit if I switch my wand (like I said, its terrible). So I've been toying with the idea of switching a bunch of Veiled Noble Topaz into my gear. I do plan on getting the tier 5 shoulders and sticking two Veiled into that so I'd rather not waste gems on the FSW Shoulders, however the rest of the gear is open season.

I'm just looking for some advice on this. If I should replace the gems in some, in which pieces I should... anything, really.

Instead of fixing your gems, why not look at some other gear? Prince's Cloak has good hit and comparable damage, the ring from Magtheridon's Head could replace your Kara ring, and if you can get one crafted, Belt of Blasting is awesome.

Personally, I went for the socket bonuses on the Frozen Shadoweave once Veiled Noble Topazes came out since you get about 2%ish more hit from that.

I've been after the damned Ruby Drape of the Mysticant since I started Karazhan, I'm now exalted (I know I still have the revered ring but I can't seem to spend the shards/planars to enchant it for a 1 spell damage upgrade) and I've never once seen it drop. I passed the gloves to two Shadow Priests because I had tier 4 and have never seen them drop since.

I don't really want the Belt of Blasting. I could get it crafted but I'd really prefer Cord of Screaming Terrors.

I'm just not sure which gems to swap.

At 1200 damage (and higher) a Great Dawnstone is better than a Veiled Noble Topaz.
Especially considering your hit is so low.

+8 spell hit = 0.64% which I guesstimate to be worth around 10-11 +damage's worth with your gear.

People using Veiled Noble Topaz to get more spell hit, but refusing to use Great Dawnstone boggles my mind.

This doesn't deserve it's own thread, use the existing ones.
