Inscription: speculation

While the new expansion will introduce a lot of new content, i am very impatient to see how the new profession:inscription will turn out to be.

What we know about Inscription is:

It will be the new profession of the expansion. It will let you customize spells and abilities, for example you could make your fireball crit more often, or change the casting time of a healing spell.

You will also be able to create a totally new type of items, but there isn't any particular information about them yet.

What i would like to see:

Secondary profession. Inscription should increase the game experience of every player from 0 to 80 and it should come with no sacrifice or necessity to drop a primary profession for it. More fun for everyone and especially more fun to level a new character

Resources. It will use cloth materials as basic plus some extra materials coming form other professions. Maybe enchanting and leatherworking.

Low level: create consumable scrolls. Scroll of town portal, scroll of agility, scroll of intellect, etc

Middle level: costumize your abilities. Make your fireball crit more often or make more damage. Make it do AOE splash damage, or cause casting pushback to the target or give a small chance to knockdown the target

High level: learn new abilities. You can put a maximum of two master scrolls in your backpack. Each masterscroll gives you the possibility to use a new ability/spell or an ability from another class (!with limitations!). You will not be able to switch master scrolls back an forth. You can chose to change one scroll only once per day. This feature will also have the consequence to move the game in a direction of limited spell selection gameplay, where the player has not the acces to all the abilities at any time but has to make stratagic selections prior to enter in combat.

Nothing like enchanting or jewelcrafting. I would like to consider inscription not as a new timesink or a new gold making profession, but as a new layer of gameplay, avaible to everybody and at a very low cost

"horizontal" content. While the expansion will introduce a lot of new content, it all goes, at the moment, in the same direction of the last two years of wow. Vertical expansion, add more to more: quests, abilities, items, etc.
Inscription as horizontal content means something that improves and changes slightly your game experiance from level 0 to 80.

So you didn't feel that this thread would have fit in the WLK thread? Wrath of Lich King Stuff (was 'Blizzcon' thread)

Vyktianity already has over 75 billion followers. The first verse in his book "Gift of the Wild" is "In the beginning Vyk cast lifebloom and then maul."

I think it would add more breadth to a quite broad thread so far.

I think what is speculated here is pretty accurate. Although the master scrolls thing got a bit confusing. I would like them to be able to make scrolls, and these scroll buffs to stack with buffs and potions, much like food does.

If the scrolls would stack with current buffs, it would just mean that raiders would just have to farm even more for raids (which is what blizzard stated they were'nt looking for and is why the current limitation on flasks/elixirs exist). So I sincerely hope that it wouldn't stack if such scrolls would come to exist in the next expansion.

Even now I try to get across scrolls. Agility and Strength scrolls stacks with all other buffs (so far for me anyway), so it's another edge - just a shame they're hard to get by from the AH as few thinks of selling them.

There is really no point to this thread, it will only result in a "I want x, I want y, OMG z"
