1. FTW and LOL aren't acronyms - they're abbreviations. Acronyms are abbreviations that form new words, like NASA for example.

2. A "vast" majority as opposed to what? A small majority?

3. The Internet is a title, and is capitalized.

No, I actually haven't. Keep trying though!

I would, but I figure this person is on the verge of digging himself into an even deeper pit.

I for one do not understand something about this thread. If you detest the forum and the method to which the moderators use, then why keep coming back for more?

I myself have received several infractions due to spelling, and grammatical mistakes. Do I whine like a baby loosing their dummy? No, I attempt to correct my mistakes and take the mature approach of attempting to improve my postings.

There is the door; don’t let it hit you on the way out.

For what it's worth, just to make a constructive point here, I personally do try to be sensitive to the fact that English really is not the first language of a lot of posters here. Their English is far, far better than my French, or Swedish, or German, or whatever other language they speak, and I respect that. I'd hope that no one has gotten an infraction just for a simple misspelling or the like -- if that's the case, it's often a misunderstanding and feel free to PM me about getting it reversed.

What I/we can and will infract non-native speakers for is simply showing a lack of effort. If you misspell a word or have a grammar error, hey, that's understandable, no one is perfect. It's more basic things like saying "thx" "plz" "ofc" "u" and not capitalizing at all, that tend to get people infractions. All we want is for people to think for a moment and put some effort into their posts. If people type posts like they might type IMs to a friend in chat, the forums will quickly become very hard to read. That's the point.

Its because he doesn't get enough attention at home, and this is the only way people will actually respond to him. Depressed teens thrive on making themselves look like idiots and then making fun of everyone that responds to it.

Really there are plenty of forums about WoW where no one will care about how you're writing or what you're writing, instead of making a big fuss about it why not just go there? It's their forums, they run it how they want to, if you don't like it, get out. Does an entire guild who have nothing to do with you need to change their policies because you happen to disagree?

I also think that grammar and the like have absolutly nothing to do with actually having a brain (being a physicist kind of does that to you ). But kind of like the GRE's, even if they don't measure actually being any good at least they measure some sort of effort. And so I'm willing to put up with having to double-check my writing so that I can read things that are for the most part useful and informative instead of inane drivel.

The vigilance of the moderators on these forums is the primary reason so many intelligent players have gravitated here.

Of course you don't!

Though, according to Acronym and abbreviation dictionary: Find out what over 4,183,000 abbreviations, acronyms, and initialisms stand for, OFC can also mean Oxygen-Free Copper, Organization for Combat, or Optical Fiber Communications.

See that's what I was thinking it was but that has such limited use on these boards it just didn't fit the profile I mentally created.

Out of curiosity is the same level of enforcement carried through to your guild only areas of the forum?

Don't get me wrong, I come here because I love how these boards are run and normally spend the start of my day trolling through the ban hammer posts.

The guild areas of the forums don't compare very well to the public ones. There's so few people posting there compared to out here, and the people that do post have been together in most cases for a couple years. Toss in some people who have quit the game, and a few who refuse to quit that last 1% such as myself, and it lends itself to a much more casual and manageable atmosphere.

We have quite the range personalities, but there's room for them. I think everyone can agree that if we ran the public boards the same way it'd just be wow forums 2.0 in beige.

Noooooooooooo springs... he hehe

If the same rules applied to the private forums as the public forums every person in EJ would be banned.
