A guildmate of mine recently put together a website dedicated to easing the hassle of guild recruitment, and I think it's worth checking out. Here is his note :


Ishittonkatrucks.com is a website dedicated to linking players and guilds without the need to troll forums. It's allows guild recruiters to search through a database of players by a combination of faction and class, and allows sorting of all it's results. Once the correct match has been made, the recruiter can send a message to the player, which automatically alerts the player via email as well as the systems message center. For the guild seeker, the process is very short and simple. Simply fill out a 20 second registration form and begin adding your seeking characters.

To keep listings accurate, the system has a listing lifetime of 30 days. The guild seekers listing can be easily renewed for another 30 days via their account center. This restriction was put into place to keep listings fresh and up to date.

MyMom is 100% free. No cost to either the seeker or recruiter."

He said he's seen the other recruitment sites out there, but they're all forum-like without class searching.

Could take off with more registrants.

Sounds very useful indeed but the problem with all these big database type ideas is that in practise its very hard to get enough people to use it that it becomes a standard thing to do. I'll check it out and maybe post it on my realm forums at a later date but for something like this to take off it needs exposure. Aesthetically its an amazing idea, practically how many people are going to go through the trouble to join a guild when, if they're desireable or even worth thinking about, they'll of been snapped up within 2 minutes. Good luck nonetheless though.

Yeah, exposure is what he's looking for at the moment. He just finished the site < a week ago, and wants to get the name out there.

Currently, there is another website doing something like this, but it's nothing more than a forum-like system that wow has on its website. I think the ability to search for a faction/class is VERY useful to guild recruiters, as I know from first hand experience. Trolling through wow's guild recruitment threads are very, very painful.
