I have got a question about Affliction and recasting dots when trinkets etc. procc.

Does it increase the dmg of Unstable Affliction if I refresh it by a single Fel Flame when trinkets like Darkmoon:Vulcano procc?

Does it make sense of recast an 7s left UA if the DM:Vulcano procc will end in 2s? From what I read so far the dots get the spellpower etc. from the time you cast the spell, right? So if the Vulcano procc is only active for 2 seconds and cast UA, the spell has the 1600 Int for the whole duration (I know that no rolling crit, sp, haste exist anymore)? What happens if the UA with the procc get's updated by a Fel Flame? The procc buff is removed, isn't it?

Is there a rule when one should recast BoA when trinkets procc? The dot makes more dmg the longer it ticks. So if it is only running 3 more seconds, shall I recast it if vulcano or bell procc or should it wait?

I dont know if it has been linked to already, but my search attempts came up empty, besides good things never go out of fashion. Maybe link to it under the pet buff section of the guide too.

Hi guys, first time poster. I just wanted to clarify the best single target threat rotation. As far as I understand, its:

shield slam on cd
if shield slam has <= gcd left on its cooldown, use demo shout(no clipping)>thunderclap (no clipping)>shockwave>rend (no clipping), and if all those abilities are up, use revenge > devastate
otherwise, shield slam has > gcd left on its cooldown, so we want to proc sword and board by using revenge > devastate

Is this rotation correct, assuming I am responsible for maintaining demo shout and thunderclap, and without having bleed damage increases? Or should I be clipping demo shout and tclap to ensure 100% uptime (or, should i simply say demo, tclap > all if the boss doesnt have the debuff)?

EDIT: I suppose I should mention that the reason I'm asking is because rawr and the first post have slightly different things to say about the rotation (rawr recommends shockwave and not rend, as an example). I also know that when/whether to clip demo and tclap is a situation dependent thing, but I was wondering what most of you guys do on progression fights.

Haste Cap for Arcane Mage

Can anyone tell me if there is a soft or hard cap for haste for arcane mages now and if so what it is? I have a few mages in my guild asking this question and they havent been able to find an answer.

What would the dps loss be if you dont backstab below 35% and just continue to mutilate?

I do have 2/2 Murderous Intent but prefer keeping my normal rotation. I also would like to use the slice and dice glyph in place of backstab.

Reducing the multi-shot GCD was something they just changed yesterday. When I posted that it was still 1.5.

But anyways, I'm seeing less and less of a reason to play survival with each update. FD already has it 3.5k DPS behind marks in my gear, which is far from BiS. With such a huge buff to multi shot incoming, which marks casts a lot more frequently than surv, I might not even have surv as my offspec anymore. Might as well just play marks full time.

It's a DPS loss, since you won't be doing as good as you could be doing. The scale of loss is really not relevant put up against the fact you will be underperforming.

As I recall backstabbing sub 35% nets you around 1k dps during the phase, so probably a 300-400 dps gain overall. The fact that you would pass up such a substantial increase for the sake of laziness (as apposed to not being able to use backstab due to the positional requirements for example) is just, well, lazy and bad. I'd suggest you don't inform your raid leader if you decide to do this. On the note of glyphs, if you drop backstab the only beneficial glyph left is vendetta, slice and dice is situational at best and completely useless at worst.

How much dps is 1% crit

Hi!

I guess this is the right thread to post this as its a vry simple question.
Im curious to how much it would benefit the dps to race change to a worgen IE get 1% passive crit chance, i know it varies depending on gear lvl, spec etc, but in average in current 359/372 gears ?

Hi all,
I recently returned to the game after almost a year-long hiatus and am trying to understand some of the new mechanics relative to destro and need some advice/confirmation as I prepare to re-enter serious raiding.

1. Currently for heroic bosses/Argoloth, my standard opening is to summon an infernal as the tank pulls; soul-burn into a soul fire, then put up immolate, BoD & Corruption before activating demon soul and starting the standard Conflag-CB-Incinerate rotation. Is this a reasonable way to open an encounter? I noticed that Demon Soul affects spells with cast time so does that mean that if I modified my opening Soul Fire due to Soul Burn, does it negate Demon Soul? Should I be opening with Demon Soul even before the first Soul Fire/Immolate so that Immolate could conceivably benefit as well?

2. In pre-raiding (heroic and rep epics), what is the best way to utilise the downtime between an Immolate and Conflag if Fel Flame is not worth casting. I am encountering scenarios where either my Chaos Bolt is up 2 seconds before my Conflag or in some case after re-casting Immo I don't need to refresh Corruption but have that downtime before being able to cast Conflag. Is it a DPS loss to cast Chaos Bolt when Conflag is on a 2 sec CD or am I better off waiting for the CD to end? In any case would it be better to cast an Incinerate straight after an immo to use up the time if no DoTs need refreshing since Fel Flame is so weak without 4-pc T11?

Demon soul affects sb-sf.
You should summon the infernal when there is nothing better to do. The damage the infernal does is (in a complete single target situation) always the same --> corr,coe,immo,cb,conflag,bod > infernal > incinerate.

i think the starting rota was posted some pages before so look it up :P

refreshing immo right after the tick before the last one is nearly no dps loss and you can use conflag right after immo.
its never an option to wait doing nothing!

I suggest folks read that one as well, as much of that information is still very good, especially the detail around the 3-phase rotation and the optimizing of those phases. I've found the info in that post to be highly effective, still and should be read in addition to this one.

Im sorry if this has been talked about before, but im still tearing my hair off regarding [Figurine - Jeweled Serpent]
and when to replace it as arcane. I fully understand how high Int is regarded and the on use effect. But there must be some additional reason why rawr treat is like the best thing next to icecream?

Or is it 100% correctly modeled in rawr? Its on top no matter what i gear i put on. And installing rawr 4.1 or updating the item cache dont change that fact. Or im seriously missing something.

My guild is currently at 10/12 in normal 25man raiding and im wondering how long i have to be stuck with this one. Any hint would be greatly recieved.

I've been reading this thread as much as possible as a Fury Warrior with Titan Grip, but I just don't feel like I do enough DPS, and I'm hoping one of you guys can point out what I could be doing wrong.

My item level is 355, so everything I have is either 346 or 359. My primary focus is putting in Strength after that I have the following: hit 8.5% hit, and 24 expertise. 10.5% Haste, 19.5% Crit, Mastery 12.8. I don't have any Agility items.

As a Jewelcrafter I put the best gems in that I can, and I've made sure that everything has the best non-crystal enchant it can hold (need to be able to afford it).

When I engage an enemy my primary attacks are Raging Blow, Blood Thirst, and Heroic Strike. I recently started remembering to use Inner Rage to get some quicker Heroic Strikes. If Slam appears for instant, and everything is on a timer or I'm out of rage, I'll use it, otherwise rarely.

I pop my CDs regularly, not just on the final 10%. Long boss fights can sometimes get 2 pops.

I often look at other people's gear and mine tends to be higher in the heroics I join. But I struggle with DPS in the 10k-11.5k range. Other classes are doing 11-14k damage with lesser gear than me... like hunters and mages in particular.


Any thoughts on why my DPS isn't as good as other people? Feel free to look me up as Leoryc on Kael'thas server.

Is this 10 man?, 25 man? which boss? If you have iLvl 355 gear, I agree even 12k is low. Raising your expertise to 26 will help. Hard to pinpoint without a log to look at.

Looking forward to seeing some Movement Sims. Also, I was looking at character via simcraft results page for the first 4.1 sims and wanted to know why/for on talents like MF and DE over 3 points in Bane. Are those backdoor DPS improvements? Also, hit at 1730, is this a viable compromise over hit at 1742? Thanks for having something up already, looking for more.

That's just in general the DPS that I do. I don't raid much other than BH, and do a lot of heroics. So I'm doing 10-11.5k dps.

How do I provide a log?

Sartharion 10er solo is also pretty easy as shaman, the trash is annoying but with wolves no problem.
tryed it today the first time and made it.

left minidrake: just nuke
middle minidrake: nuke, keep cds 4 adds
right minidrake: 1. portal - earth elemental, 2. portal - earth/fire elemental
sartharion: avoid everything that hurts, keep bl and wolves for 30% or 20% - nuke

wiped a few times at the trash, but killed sartharion first try


enhancer - ilvl 359 - pve specc and glyphs
