Intruiged by that Sanity debuff.
Replenishes by 1% every 3 seconds, 20 minute duration. If it reaches 0, you become MC'd.
The fight is already sounding like a giant retard and/or gear check.

Hi all.

Having a hard time to decide what specc i should go with. Been useing Arcane specc for a while now, like it somewhat but not reaching the high numbers i want to get to. My main goal is to reach 6k dps on Patchwerk, having 5.5k dps atm with Arcane specc. Been looking at some WWS and see that most mages that are on 6-6.5k dps on Patchwerk are FFB specced.

Has FFB specc passed Arcane and Fireball specc in single target DPS?

(My mage is Ballz on Silvermoon server, armory down atm)

No it has not, what your likely seeing are ffb mages that are very lucky with crit streaks. FFB's dps is very dependend on rng so it might do 6.5k one week and 5k the other week just because your lucky with crits. So what your seeing is best situation logs, but you dont see the 5k logs of the week afterwards.

Changes to DK

Was waiting for the servers to come back up to day so was looking for patch notes, found them on
MMO-Champion - World of Warcraft Guides and Raid Strategies

And i have found that alot of what made DK more then just an other simple DPS or Tanking class are being taken out.
Like Shadow of Death is now removed- it was not the most amazing talent but for 1 point if worked right you could do just that little bit extra DPS.
Also Plauge Strike hass had the HoT removal ablility remove - what is that about it was on of the things that most healer class feared in Arena, and it gave a special element to the attack rather then just dam.
From what i can see Blizz didn't like the specs that players had made as we were competing for top place for DPS.
Also i could see this coming but Raise Ally has been removed from Arena with a 15min timer, only thing is pallys stilll get there bubble (in that they can basicly become new again).
I just find the cool little things that made DK a change from the norm are steadly being Nerfed out of the game.

In the old time when everyone were using the word uncrittable, you could ask the pug tank "are you uncrittable?" and he would understand what you meant. I see no advantage to use "defense cap" now over "uncrittable".

Another problem with the word Defense Cap is you don't need to reach the Defense Cap to be Defense Capped. For new tanks gearing up for the last few defense to be uncrittable, they can use one or two pieces of resilience gear to fill up the gap. Not that I recommend this but I only want to point out the fact that how confusing is the term Defense Cap here.

That's a very astute observation, since I originally posted:

I have tried it on my work laptop (Windows XP) and I get redirected to the main page and I have tried it on my home pc (Windows Vista and Fedora Linux) and I still get the same results. I have added file planet to the trusted zone in my internet properties and I have disabled pop-up blocking. I have tried it with Internet Explorer and Firefox and still I get the same results. When I click on the link it takes me to a page that looks like a download is going to start since there is a long address in the address bar and then after about a second I am redirected to the main page. I tried creating an account with file planet and that did not help either. Any real help solving this issue would be appreciated.

Look at this another Glass Joe name calling to prove a point? This is new and exciting on the EJ forums.

This argument is completely pointless, people can call 540 defense what they want regardless of what it means. I have no problem calling it crit immune or defense cap because they mean the same thing (to have at least 540 defense). I personally find no reason to go beyond 540 defense, like I've said before. You and obviously other believe there is a reason to do so. I think we have covered this and that we can move on to discuss more important topics then a title for a 540 defense.

I hit 80 and decided tanking wasn't for me, so I switched to Fury. Aside from game mechanics, fucking hell holding two 2H weapons looks awesome.

So here's my problem, the first day I hit 80 I respecced, got some new gear, and pulled in an abysmal 400dps. I was rightly mocked and ridiculed.

I've spent a week or so crafting/obtaining new gear. My dps is now up to about 1500 in heroics. I'm very happy that it's more than tripled, but unfortunatly, it's still among the lowest dps in any group I run.

Here is a link to my armory.

And here's a quick rundown of where I'm at with stats:
  • Strength: 948
  • Stamina: 1032
  • AP: 2857
  • Hit Rating: 344 (10.49% against 80s)
  • Crit Rating: 489 (22.23% Crit Chance)
  • Expertise: 15 (reduces chance by 3.75%)

My rotation tends to be "WW - BT - HS" every time they're up. I've also got the glyph that makes cleave hit a third target so I hit that when it's up as well. I also throw in some Sunder Armors to help out if I'm the only Warrior. (I remembered someone earlier in the thread complaining that the rotation hasn't changed much since Vanilla WoW, if it has and I'm missing something important, please let me know.)

So, other than "quit sucking", what can I do to increase my dps? What stats should I focus on? Do I need to stack a certain stat? Do I have too much of something already?

I'm trying my best but I'm just not getting very far. I was told you guys were the people to see.

So I have been seeing more and more combat rogues going either webbed death/hail storm or hailstorm/webbed death.

Whaaa? they going for just white and poison dmg? Most are using deadly/instant. I don't get it?

Anyone know why this is? the poison and white dps out dmg slower higher dmg main hand?

Hey guys,


I'm the raid leader of my guild and am curious about the DPS of a rogue we have. It seems like he's doing far less than he should be, and we only have one rogue that raids with us so there's nothing to compare it with.

He's in his PvP gear at the moment, but his spec is the same. As you can see from the WWS, he's outdpsed by our Prot Paladin main tank. Is there something he's doing wrong in the abilities he uses, is it his spec, or what's going on? Thanks in advance for the help!

Huh? I certainly wasn't whining, just making an observation about the hubbub of changes on PTR (and the discrepancies between the patches and patch notes). I enjoy the discussions about build adjustments and think it's somewhat exciting to see trees shaken up this much.

I'm pretty sure nobody in this thread has done anything close to what you bitched about. Not sure what you're crusading for.

arcane dmg

i am new to arcane i was frost fire previously. i have read alot of the forums and have found out that arcane has been nerfed in 3.0.9. the glyph of arcane blast is broken, and the dmg coefficient on arcane barrage was drastically reduced.

i have a few questions...

1. what are good stats to stack as an arcane mage?
im at about 590 haste, 1900 spell power, and 21% crit.

2. how do i avoid going OOM while still maintaining high dps?
there are many helpful forums that give their suggestions on rotations,
but i have found the actual damage i do when using these rotations to be less than
what the forums claim. the only way im holding down 5500 dps is by spamming arcane blast
until arcane missiles proc then casting that. doing this i am OOM in 20 secs.

3. is there hope for arcane mages in 3.1?
as the arcane spec stands now frostfire is far superior. frost fire does about equal damage to a single target, while maintaining aoe dmg and a damage over time caused by the crit from frost fire bolt and pyroblast. unfortunately arcane cant even compete.

I like playing arcane, i was frost for soo long, and have had my fill of frost fire. please respond with any help, advice or inside knowledge or arcanes hidden potential. my arcane mage is oneleftout look him up if it helps.

Yeah that's a great of putting things. There's no doubt that my dps has gone up. I guess it comes down to which playstyle I prefer.

i have 2251 SP self buffed 15.86% hit 13% crit 11% haste and ma build is 54/0/17 i hardly get 3.1k in OD 3D and other hybird lock in same grp gets 3.3-3.6k dps and i always keep up ma dots.. For rotation SB UA Imo CoA Corr SL. can u help me in here and what am doing wrong or build wrong ? plz assisst

Did they remove T.N.T refreshing Immolation trap? I guess that's why using it in the spreadsheet as constantly there doesn't work at all.

That's pretty frustrating. It not only makes Trap Mastery completely useless again, but it also nerfs Lock n Load since you can't even guarantee a proc with immolation any more, and it was never that great without trap dancing anyway.

I'll reword this to make it a bit clearer.

If I make the shot rotation, pet, glyphs, etc all the same as they are pre-3.1, I lose about 500 DPS in this spreadsheet.

Anyone else seeing the same thing? I must have missed something somewhere.

Of course I will update this thread after 3.1 hit the live servers. I'm currently implementing the new glyphs and talents into the model. I personally enjoy the discussion about the (first!) patch notes, but things are not eaten as hot as they are cooked. Everything you read from here on is still 3.08.
