Latest Blizzard posts just before the class previews indicates we'll be moving away from the "3 possible tank specs" model and towards having a dedicated tanking tree, which will be blood.
This certainly wasn't a surprise coming, the advent of mastery would make it all but impossible to do so otherwise. Before anyone jumps to any idiotic conclusions, let's wait to see how the talents have changed and been shuffled around. I'd be surprised if more than a few talents were mandatory in any non-blood tree.
Personally I'm most curious to see wheter we'll be meant to tank with two tanking weapons, and whether now that Blood is the tank tree if Blood and Frost presence should swap positions. Come to think of it UH presence needs a work-over as well, granted that the melee haste component is all but useless in every possible scenario. Remains to be seen, roll on the 8th!

Has anyone else noticed that it is impossible to reach the numbers you can in heroic modes vs. regular modes? Our guild is a little behind in progression, and tonight we were attempting Heroic Saurfang, and ended up killing him easy mode. However, a few of us were noticing that we couldn't get close to the numbers we were getting in normal mode, more than just a longer fight / switching to adds / less hero uptime / etc.
Just real-time digging into recount, our ele shaman (and myself, who was ele for the fight), were taking a look at our numbers. When looking at our lightning bolts breakdown of hit vs crit from heroic attempts to normal kill, there was a significant difference in crits. I think we were somewhere around an average of 50-55% crit on heroic attempts but 60-65% crit on normal.
Has anyone else noticed or done any testing on something of this sort? Perhaps heroic mode bosses somehow have a crit depression of some sorts?

Hi there,
i am constantly reading these and MMO´s forums but i still have some questions that didnt get answered till now, so maybe you guys can help:
- do i delay my OBL/BS for FS? (eg OBL will be available in ~ 0.8 seconds, do i wait for OBL OR do i FS and then OBL right after? Different classes do handle it on different ways, rets play FCFS and furys wait for their more important abilities, how do we do?
- AOE: for what number of targets do you use BB? i noticed it is really doing very low damage, even to diseased targets (about 1000 in my current gear, uncrit), so right now, i use BB for 4+ targets (since i still carry 2xT9 and BS is triggering it (BB is not))
- do you wait for KM procs when AOEing? i start with IT-PS-Pest-(HB if KM procced)-BB-HB-Dump. Should i wait, if there is no KM even after the BB? should i use HB right after the Pest, KM Proc or not?
I am using GoIT, not GoD (not EXP capped).

Has there been any word on whether Fireball is going to surpass arcane soon? I've noticed a lot of BiS Fire talk.
Also, has anyone considered getting more hit rating instead of spirit (ie gunship mitten instead of sanlayans, or keeping t10 gloves and getting the plaguebringers kilt), and using the extra point in MA or pushback? Seems like it goes back to the discussion about MA and/or pushback being better than student of the mind.
Or even keeping legs of woven death. I'm not convinced using sanlayn's gloves is better.

Ofcourse you shouldn't delay as long as your total runeset doesn't get delayed. If you can FS then continue using up runes within their grace period all should be fine.

I hardly ever use BB since I'm using 2T9 still as well and need to be sure I keep the buff up. Besides that 4 targets sounds right, maybe 3 takes the lead already in good gear but you need to be sure you can hit them all (sometimes adds tend to be a little too spreaded to hit *all* of them).

Not really sure on that one I tend to use my 2nd set of FU on HB, right after applying diseases anyway and using the 2nd blood rune, regardless of KM procs. Don't forget you can also still DND if there's more than just a few adds and you know the trash is going to live long and won't move. AOEing I mostly do on 'feel' because procs and fight duration are such an important factor in maximizing dps.

It will be interesting to see all the changes in store for blood as a permanent tanking tree. I play DW-frost tanking currently because i did not like blood particularly. Definitely looking forward to seeing how they have changed the trees. More/better AOE threat for blood would be nice to see. Also 2H vs DW, if that is even possible when they release the changes.

This is my first post. I hope I am respecting all of the do's and dont's here.
I have a few questions regarding the spreadsheet:
1. I downloaded the 3.3 combat sheet and it wont let me select t9 horde gear. It defaults to VanCleef's instead of Garona's. I am assuming that the stats are the same. Based on that assumption, I substituted. The same is true for the belt; pitiless killer/merciless killer.
1a. Is there a Horde spreadsheet or am I missing something very obvious?
2. The recommendations on the sreadsheet for gemming don't include a nightmare tear anywhere. So, should I not use one? I was under the impression that the additional 10 stats would be a nice upgrade.
edit~ I was aware that the nightmare tear was for a blue socket. This is where I have it. Thank you.

1 - The spreadsheet is done with Alliance gear names. Aldriana does not release a horde version of the spreadheet.
2 - The spreadsheet assumes you are smart enough to put in the Nightmare Tear and Expertise gemming when need.

1. Same stats horde vs. alliance. Most of the names are similar so it should be easy to figure out.
2. You should know where the best place to put your 1 nightmare tear is. Usually it is the best bonus you can get that has a blue gem slot. The 10 stats is not for a nice upgrade, it is for activating your meta gem.

Hi there,
Im trying to work out what would be best for my newly rolled lock, Im playing Demo for DP for the raid, and after about 30 pages of reading, I think these are the points I have got:
This is about the best spec: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft but what am I loosing running this spec: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Shadow Bolt should be used unless Molten Core is up
CoA, Corruption, and Immolate should be up 100% with no clipping unless Decimate is up, then its that 100% of the time (applying dots @ around 37% to maximise chance to get MC up during this phase.
What sort of SP should we be looking for before we are stronger than a shammies totem?
My Lock's Gear Now be kind, I have only been 80 since Saturday, I am in a guild who is 9/12 ICC Hardmode (I used to be MT but quit and came back) so gear choice isnt much of an issue in the long run, BiS is what ill look for, what Upgrades can I go for so I am ready to hit ICC in the best way possible?
Thanks for the help guys, its really helping me learn the Lock now a days (last time I raided with one was in T1 gear)

2 T10 vs Wild Magic
Hey Guys,
Just wondering what you think is better (as this scenario hasn't been discussed yet):
Before a fight starts I can pre-pot Wild Magic and get more crit (I'm rocking it out wiht 2T9/2T10) which I can presumably roll over on my SrS through the encounter.
Now, is that better than 2T10 bonus? i.e Should I reapply when T10 procs?

I have two questions considering the new haste values with sub frost specc.
With the sub frost specc the value for haste has risen up and I've since several DK's (frost dw and sub frost) using the 60 emblem of frost leather belt (Vengeful Noose). I wonder if this is a good option for me, who hasnt come far in 25 man or 10 man ICC.
I also wonder if the trinket Herkuml War Token is worth looking over since the new values.
