Is it better for DKs to cancel the 270 strength buff or keep the buff given all of our Strength modifiers?

Hey there Elitist Jerks. Since this is my first post and I cant make a new thread, I have been gaining interest in theorycrafting. I think I am already good at what Im doing as an MM Hunter but am looking to learn more, and gain more knowledge about theorycrafting, if someone could give me some assistance here I'd appreciate it very much.

I'm in a temporary dilemma with my gear right now. I mainly do 25 mans and I currently have Boots of Unnatural Growth and Blessed Cenarion Boots. I currently am at the GCD haste cap without the haste from the boots. I've been trying to decide if the additional benefit from haste from the Cenarion boots to glyph of rapid rejuvenation would outweigh the benefit of extra crit on SM and Nourish. Obviously once I get a couple tier pieces with crit on them the Cenarion boots will be the clear answer, but for now was wondering if you guys would have any input.

Can't find a decent place to theory craft! I consider myself a pretty hardcore end-game arms warrior, currently 5/12 heroic ICC 25, but i'm starting to see a lot of other arms warriors gear setup with no expertise and 2 points into weapon mastery. I currently am running a gear setup that puts me at exp cap with 1/2 points in weapon mastery and I am pulling 11.5 on stand still fights like deathbringer.

After creeping some people on world of logs i have seen that several arms warriors go no exp except talents and those same warriors are beating me by 500-1500dps on most fights.

So what gives? running around 9 exp. is better than cap now due to OP use? I mean anybody who has made the switch can you tell me...is it worth it? Should I try to fix something that isnt really broken? lol, i got a heroic token tonight and waiting to use it based on this situation...can easily dump my expertise tier legs and be where everybody else is on exp...but dont want to do this change and drop my 4 piece if people dont think it is worth it

Hi all.

I have taken a long long time reading almost every of the last 50 pages of the thread and I must say my tanking performance has improved like 500% on the last 2 weeks. Formerly I was stuck to the "frost presence heroics tanking" since naxxramas. Thanks to everyone for this awesome thread.

Said that, and knowing that this topic is about end-game tanking, would like to ask for a viable unholy build for 10m, heading for Heroic ICC, since our party is a magic-heavy one (mage-SP-ele shami+ ret pally). Have been running a Blood spec till now and found myself having an "easy" time holding aggro on any encounter despite our fury warrior doing ~10k dps on every fight which makes me think that I still could perform OK while switching for an effective raid buff (we already have a MM huntard and 2 shams what leads to drop non-improved WF totem).

The question is, is the "standard" build shown on the OP the way to go or the latest changes to the frost tree suggest a frost sub-spec, like unholy DPS?

Is anyone a lilttle bit worried about the abuse potential of that life grip spell? Like, griping other party members so the priest gets to a mining node/herb first (escpecially with the run speed armor on) ? Or griping people to you while you levitate and let them fall to their deaths ? It sounds like a cool mechanic for both PvP and Pve but this makes me a little bit worried...

DI on the tank has wiped many a raid. I'm sure we need to remove that spell. Or repeated polymorph on the target we want to kill. So let's remove the sheep.

There are ways to make the use of the spell annoying/griefing to others. There are also ways where I can see the bad application of it may perhaps provoke a raid wipe. But there are other spells that do and did the same for years. It's mostly a learn to use correctly issue. There are interesting good possibilities for that spell:

If there is an automatic minus-threat applied with it, then it can be used as an external tank swap spell. If there isn't minus-threat, then it might be used as an external tanking cooldown, giving the tank a short window of time where he is pulled away from the mob and doesn't get hit until the boss can catch up.

Void zones, deep breaths, disconnects (!!) - you can now safe one player. "We can't heal stupid" is a funny mantra of the priest class, but now we might actually fix other peoples stupid a little bit sometimes.

Target swaps optimizing might be another interesting thing. There are lots of possibilities. Yes you might be able to grief with it too. But if you're worried about evil Priests preventing you from dealing damage, just collect the branches until the current holliday event ends. You can turn them into silenced bunnies - and that even without a cooldown for revenge.

Quick question...

If ArP scales better with greater numbers, would Might of Blight be a better choice over Ashen Band of Endless Might assuming you're hit/exp capped?

It would pretty much boil down to which is greater : 52 ArP or 80 AP (since the ring has a 1 min ICD according to wowhead)

So after searching endlessly on the WoW forums and doing my best to use "acceptable" search parameters for these forums; I've been unable to successfully find anything that remotely answers my somewhat simple question. Hopefully, someone here can provide some insight. =)

Currently, I'm wearing Thassarrian's Conquest gear; 4 piece Tier 9, iLvL 232:

-Chest
-Gloves
-Helmet
-Leggings

I've been considering dumping the Helmet, thus breaking the 4 piece set bonus (Blood Plague has a chance to crit), for the iLvL 245 helm, Thunderous Rampage, sold by the Dalaran vendor.

My shoulders currently, are also iLvL 245, sold by the Dalaran vendor. So if I break this 4 piece, there is no going back. My concern is, how worthy is it to retain this 4 piece set bonus, when the iLvL 245 helm is clearly a significant upgrade over the t9 helm?

Any thoughts, or advice?

Thanks! =)

The other bonus that wearing no expertise brings, is being able to gem\gear more STR\ArP

Quests(question marks to be precise) on quest-giver return-screen are now coloured grey while you have them unfinished and yellow again if you've done the objective. Finally allows to differ that on quest-givers that have multiple quests open.

I've successfully tanked every fight in Heroic ICC10 (sans LK) as Unholy and many in ICC25 heroic as well. It is not only viable, but it is extremely effective. The spec on the first page works, but I personally made some changes because I wanted Improved Unholy Presence. What I did was drop AMZ; it isn't that great (since it is based on AP). Remove the lonely point in Wandering Plague -- again, nice, but not crucial.

Threat is never an issue thanks to the IT buff, but it wasn't before really either (just less flexibility).

I suspect that subspecing frost isn't really worth it. Bladed Armor is incredibly good for tanks. But even so, threat isn't really a problem most of the time.

My anecdotal experience was I took measurably less damage than did a Blood DK who often co-tanked with me. Average damage was lower (thanks to BS). Bursts like Sindragosa were extremely trivial thanks to 100% absorption with AMS. Bone Shield uptime can vary significantly, but to be honest, the times when it is shortest -- a string of unavoided hits -- is precisely when you want damage reduction. Overall, my survivability and threat was comparable with an ICC25 MT Blood tank at a slightly lower gear level (as I am primarily DPS).

Your mileage may vary, of course. Watch out for worms on Dreamwalker as they hurt, especially with burning zombies, and bone shield is not especially helpful in this situation because of the fast attacks.

Posts like this make me -- the new hybrid build that a few people are running (and I've played around with it myself) IMO really isn't worth the hype. And judging from the dps setup you listed in your post, I agree completely Unholy would definitely help out that comp. Suno's builds are very strong, however considering you're trying to build for stronger DPS ( i suppose DPS is an issue) maybe take the point out of AMZ and get Gargoyle for Bloodlusts/Heroisms. Just a thought.

In all honesty though, I would still stay blood, unless you really need that push, throw up Hysteria on that warrior early and during the lust, and let DPS do their jobs. But thats me. However, if you're determined to go unholy, Suno's specc is one of the best there is.
