In the meantime, HS still needs to be off the GCD to allow us to consume our rage in a player-controlled manner (and scrap IR as previewed), though perhaps just give it a separate 1.5 CD from the GCD.
Yeah, the current rage system will simply not work, if we have the same costs of abilities which may even go up 50% when hitting 100 rage (which is very likely today).

I personally hope (and I have hoped for this throughout whole WotLK) that rage costs and income is roughly cut in half across the board, so there is simply a greater buffer to manage your rage and not the current scenario, where you go from zero to full in about 3 crits...it simply is too spikey.

I would hope that the numbers on HS are just an example and it even does not scale directly with the Inner Rage buff, so that if you have 45 rage, not everything is gone when you HS with the buff, but more like the base cost is increased (the 10 rage to 15) and the scaling mechanic stays the same. So you would only consume up to 35 rage.
What will also be of interest is the new Execute, as it is identical to HS then (with current knowledge). And as said by keseph, Sudden Death will also be useless in its current form. Lets hope that Execute will not become simply a better scaling HS that you use <20% :/ .

Rage Normalization is Goooood!!

I have brooded over the changes for some time now, and read a lot of comments which all of you made and a picture started to form here from what I believe is going to be the new cata warrior. For Fury DPS we would either be wielding 2 huge 2handers or 2 1handers.

One handed weapons generally have faster attack speeds but does less damage, combine it with flurry the new speculated single minded talent and we can be looking at very fast swings here with low dps, BUT and that’s why I quoted Powgout, Bliz said that rage normalization is going to work per hit, doesn't specify whether is crit/glance, just has to be a hit to get 100% rage for a not decided factor for main hand and 50% rage of same factor for offhand. Taking this into consideration fast attack speed will generate huge amounts of rage which can be used for abilities but also will get you up to 100 rage a lot faster getting you inner rage. Now I believe this will be like 10-20 sec buff that ticks down, and as long as its active you'll do double damage for double rage cost on abilities. Since 1 handers hits so fast the damage lost for not dual wielding a 2handers will be made up in getting rage/inner rage faster than the dual wielding 2hander spec

For dual wielding 2handers we will be slow...very slow, generating rage will be a problem for us, BUT bliz stated that in the fury tree "extra swings" would we the tree mastery or focus or even maybe in a talent, but I suspect that this extra attack plus existing fury might just put us on par to not feel the rage generation hurt that much, but we still would be generating half of that is we would have been using 1handers. I believe they are going to remove the titan's grip penalty to damage. Now dual wielding 2handers might be slow, thus rage generation is also slow, but we would be hitting insanely hard, where we would be getting 2 heroic strikes to the 4 of 1handers the dps would either be more or equal in comparison, and once we eventually hit inner rage effect that 800-1k 2 hander would be hitting for about 4-5k even more per swing. It's going to be choice between fast attack speed/low damage per hit - slow dps to max or slow attack/high damage per hit - fast dps to max, but in end their both going to be completely be the same in damage output.

I don't think warrior tanks will have anything to worry about, I believe most of the agro generating attacks are going to be better cause the actual attack after hitting inner rage is going to be more and thus generate more agro, this is also a benefit as I believe it will add a little to tanks aoe tanking ability, and just having Vengeance will mean you will be able to hold agro for just standing there. I don't think tanks will have problems with rage generation due to fact that they have less time to worry about holding agro and more time to do other things such as shouts, use rage generating abilities.

The change in sunder effect I believe is to not try and hurt tanks but make the ability more generally usable by all types of warriors, so that its not expected of a tank to be the only one to put up sunder if other warriors are in party or if only warrior in party is dps.

One thing I would like WOW/Bliz to consider is that a warrior can go beyond being a warrior and become a "being of killing", what I mean by this is that it would be possible by some means (Must be very hard and risky) to reach inner rage while it is still active. I wouldn't say double buff just a refresh or added ticks. Timing your rage perfectly should make this an awsome thing to achive for any warriors (can start hearing stories being told between warriors already) but very risky, messing up would probibly mean rotation is messed up, rage starved and overall dps decline. For the people that don't care they wouldn't even know thats its possible, and for the people who knows and tries it will be personally rewarding... might also be nice to just feel how it feels to catch a glimpse a second or so how it feels to be at the top of dps charts before coming down and normilizing (Just letting those mage/ret pallies know I can top you)

You're missing this:

This amount is based on a constant formula which factors in the base swing speed of the weapon. This means the Rage gained should be averaged out between fast and slow weapons. The constant formula also gives us the ability to easily increase the rage gained if it feels too low (or reduce it if is too high).
As you can read, the new rage formula will use weapon speed too. I see the word "averaged" here as:

Slow weapons: Slow but bigger chunks of rage incoming.
Fast weapons: Fast but lower chunks of rage incoming.

After an enough big amount of time, both weapons should give similar rage. This is the only way that the system makes sense in a world of fill all GCDs. They'll balance around the new 1-hander +Damage modifier talent.

I personally don't feel comfortable with the new chose between dual 1-handers or dual 2-handers for Fury. In my opinion Blizzard is playing with fire here. They are adding more complexity to the enough hard job of balance Arms vs Fury vs rest of DPS classes. Let's hope that I'm wrong though...

EDIT: Sorry don't know what happened but I was replying to the guy who said that the new rage normalization will benefit a lot to fast DW 1-handers. But the post has been removed.

How does top/low end effect dps? (ex. [Wrathful Gladiator's Longblade] and [Wrathful Gladiator's Handaxe] same speed, same dps, different top/low ends).

Also why do top geared combat rogues socket ArP so much so that they do not benefit from sunders?

I've been reading the threads from EJ for some time and i was wandering if some1 calculate the value of haste reported to spell power, crit for my char The World of Warcraft Armory - Warra @ Shattered Halls - Profile.
I have this request couse last night i reached 1100 haste selfbuffed and with 8% haste from raid buffs i was wandering if haste value has decreased below crit rating. I has plans also to change
Talisman of Heedless Sins -> Shadow Silk Spindle and
The Lady's Brittle Bracers -> Ether-Soaked Bracers.
TY.

ArPen is completely independent from Sunder, i.e. Sunder increases your DPS even if you're at 100% ArPen.
And low/top end damage doesn't really affect your DPS at all (over an indefinite period), it just affects the variance in your hits.

As for the Rupture spec and the spreadsheet, the sheet does not incorprorate yet the recent changes to Rupture (that it can crit now even without the T8 bonus). You can force it to do so though.

Current arms rotation

I don't know if i am doing it wrong and some of the posts out there is kinda outdated so would to get it corrected if i am doing it wrong :|

My current single rotation.
Charge => Rend => Mortal Strike (hitting in as soon as it comes off CD) => Sunder/Slam (sundering on bosses until something procs) => Overpower => Execute => Bladestorm (25-30 rage with this rotation so I dont waste rage)

Priority list would look like this
Rend,
Mortal Strike,
Over power,
Execute,
Bladestorm.
And work sunder armor, slams, and heroic strike in there.

two targets or more
Charge => Rend => Thunderclap => Mortal strike (Jaggernut) => Bladestorm (Sweeping Strikes) => Slam till something procs => Over power => Execute

Priority list:
Rend,
Thunderclap,
Bladestorm (Sweeping Strikes),
Mortal Strike,
Over power,
Execute,
Slam.
And work slams, and cleave in there.

Weapon missing? Does it "Suck"

Hey all, I know what was said in the very first part of the this thread about 'If an item is missing it probably sucks" Well.

I have the ilvl 251 Soulbreaker from 10 man. It is not in the list. I can't see how it is that much worse than Malice which is in the list,

Malice: [Malice]

Soulbreaker: [Soulbreaker]

Every stat on the Soulbreaker is higher than that of Malice, the only thing that "May" differ the dps is the 2.5 speed compared to the SB 2.6 but I was under the impression that slower = best.

I would love to use this spread sheet but at the moment I can't due to this one missing item. Could someone please explain to me how to add it, or why it really "Sucks"

Thank you, and Great work on the spreadsheet, i've used them before over the years and always found them helpful.

In short, the maximum armor that can be negated through ArPen is limited, so Sunder Armor takes away a part that ArPen cannot.

I have a question. I'm having trouble deciding which weapon enchant to stick with. I have an enhance shaman so I've been sticking with berserking but every calculator (Rawr, AskMrRobot, Toskk's) are telling me to go with a different enchant...i.e. Mongoose, Massacre, Scourgebane, or Executioner.

Here is my armory, is executioner a viable enchant for my gear?

Thanks.
