The real issue with this new system I've been trying to get across on the official forums but I decided to cancel my account yesterday and oooops that was exactly the day it ran out of juice.
I'll continue my crusade here, and hopefuly someone can carry it over to the forums.
The real big issue of this change isn't even about loot, neither badges or gold.
It is about having backups to fill the raid.
Every successful 25 man raiding guild out there have more people in their rosts than it's possible to fit in a raid group. They NEED more than 25 people to raid successfully every week, it can't be done otherwise, unless everyone runs at 100% attendance (aka impossible).
So what? Well, a guild form its raid group, put those 25 players in and put 5 replacements on hold. At the current system, this is not an issue, if someones internet dies midway you grab a replacement out of your pool and get going, the guy that was dragged in won't be upset even if 70% of the place is cleared, he can run the place later that week in 10s and its all cool.
Come Cataclysm said guy won't be so happy about joining an ongoing raid, meaning guilds will have little attempts at clearing a place, because the odds of having the same 25 players online the next day aren't that great. People will refuse to fill raids to work on a new boss if that means they'll be blocked from a clear run of 10 man.
I want to thank you for all of your effort in making the original DK guide and updating it meticulously up to today. I can personally attest that it is a big reason for all of my WMO records from Ulduar through ICC, and I am willing to wager that most WMO unholy records are stemmed from your work. You have made my time playing WOW much more enjoyable.
The cross server PUG system + refer a friend makes 1-60 leveling a breeze (and much more enjoyable). I just leveled up a new priest to 60 after being away from WoW for a bit, and my friend that referred me leveled up a new mage to 60, plus he got an old alt druid that stalled out at 40, to 60 as well.
When he wasn't on I'd run around doing a bunch of quests, then when he logged on one of the alts, I'd summon him to me, for triple xp quest turn ins, queue up for a random dungeon, and we'd go do some more quick quests together. I'd just need to give the two alts extra levels to keep them up at my level.
We would get an easy 1 or 2 levels per dungeon run, keep the alts relatively well geared with the blues from the random dungeon bags, and when you're done you get ported right back to the quest you're working on. I think the longest downtime was going to train.
For a new player it might actually all go by too quickly, but if you're leveling an alt this seems like an extremely well designed system for two (or more) people who know what they're doing to play together and blow through to 60 in no time. You've got the money to spend on duel specs which makes it easy to both knock out quests and queue up for dungeons as either a healer or tank (which makes the queues much shorter). Plus there's all the bind on account gear to make the dungeon runs go quickly.
Anyone considering leveling an alt should definitely find someone else to refer while they do it.
i was woundering why the [Sindragosa's Cruel Claw] Is better then the 10man Fester neck? Besides the 11plus haste.
This is not a thread for "woundering", it is a thread for "provering". Download Rawr (or use Rawr 3), download Enhsim and make a set using the 10 man Fester neck that outperforms the current BiS set following the rules Rava outlined in the first two posts. Then post your revised set and reap the rewards as Enh Shaman everywhere rejoice that they no longer have to compete against Rogues, Hunters and Ferals for their BiS neck.
