I've been meaning to respec my ret tree for a while now, and I had a question about Sheath of Light. In the OP it says that SP is useless for ret, so how useful is this talent? I have googled quite extensively on this and everyone says you need it yet (most of them) quote at the same time EJ which says SP is useless.
Also, how useful is Pursuit of Justice, from a pure PVE standpoint?
I'm guessing Divine Purpose isn't particularly useful for PvE, also Vindication is more of a prot pally talent right? So I will probably drop those two.
Thanks for any help with these questions.
Due to the way that Frost works and FF, using D&D before you HB is not as effective as using it AFTER you HB, why is because of the increased damage targets take when under the influence of your FF. So I would revise that to pull with HB > D&D > BB > BT > BB, this allows you to apply FF straight from the pull, and also place your D&D allot closer to you as apposed to "where the mob was standing" so that you get the full effect of D&D instead of some mobs running past it and you loosing out. 2ndly however, there is no actual need to neither use pestilence nor plague strike in this manor, BB is not increased higher due to 2 diseases, and reaches its highest capability with only FF applied. And using pestilence when you will HB so often is just a waste of a blood rune, its only going to spread something that you will be applying to the same mobs 2 GCD earlier. So I would alter the 2nd rotation to HB > BB > BB > OB/DS depending on spec.
Now although this is not exactly end game stuff in concept, it does have benefits in real instances. I use this exact method to tank the ads on LK, using HB to draw them to me, and then applying D&D once in range, but in a position so that the D&D just clips LK also.
So I do agree with your overall idea of tanking like this, but I think that your order of rune usage could be improved slightly by this alteration.
I think what you're describing, Douglas, is quite common in 10m guilds. Because 10m guilds imply a smaller roster, it is very important for at least part of the roster to have alts that can raid. Quite typically, we got our first Kingslayer with someone playing an alt because we were one healer short. So your observation is, in my opinion, quite well-founded and representative of what happens, I believe, in many 10m-guilds.
At work and away from the sim at the moment and don't have time before tonight's raid to plan out a gear strategy. I've got a series of weapons to choose from. I'm in mostly 264 gear about to upgrade to 277. I have the following weapons:
I should be up for a 271 Havoc as early as this week as well as a 277 Seducer, but those are based on luck.
Given the first set, I'm using the Black Bruise MH and Gutbuster OH.
1. Is there a better combo with my current weapons?
2. If I get the seducer in the offhand, is the Gutbuster better than the Black Bruise MH? (Rawr says yes, no sim available at the moment to double check, is Rawr accurate with the Black Bruise approximation?)
3. Is Rawr correct in saying the 271 Havoc is better than the 277 Black Bruise?
i'm having trouble locating the icc raid-zone buff in the spreadsheet, can anyone point it out for me.
ICC raid buff, as mentioned in some other thread by some other poster is not modelled into any spreadsheets because it has no effect on your item choices. It is purely a 15% damage increase, not an increase to any particular damage giving stats.
I wondered recently if TAiaJ would potentially be BiS at level 85, if it does not get nerfed along the way: many here stated, that it even were BiS ignoring the hit rating on it; furthermore, the proc is a percentage and not a fixed value, additionally proccing a seal, which we all agree on is what makes this trinket so valuable (along with the motes building up so fast). Thus I conclude, if no mechanics change until 85 hits, this trinket will still possibly be a valid alternative. Anecdotally it reminds me somehow of the old Windfury Totem and its value, making me think of it sometimes as Tiny Windfury in a Jar (although the mechanics of the totem and the trinket are of course not the same).
Go tell the Spartans, passerby:
That here, by Spartan law, we lie.
Ok so i am brushing off my DW frost set to have some fun since we need some icy talons for our stack in some 10 mans. I just picked up a Tiny Abom in a Jar and was wondering if there is something else I should look forward to replacing it with. My second trinket is a DBW. After some hours of testing the trinket gives aprox. 1.7% dps. Just wondering if anyone could point me to some math on this compared to other trinks available from 25NM/10HM.
