Long time reader of EJ threads here. Now, I'm primarily a prot paladin in my guild, but lately i've decided to be the dps for the non-dps fights. Ret is not as familiar to me as prot is. I've learned a lot from this thread, so first off, Thank you to the OP for starting this and maintaining it!

Now to my question. I've recently completed my 2pc t10. I've noticed a lot that DS would come off cooldown as i'm spamming my next ability. Question being, is it bad that I spam for the ability instead of trying to make DS go off before the previous ability?

Hi, i read many posts on topic and i havent found answer for mechanics spellpower vs haste. I still dont know what is better.

Eaxample: Is better on 57/3/11 2663 sp 972 haste or 2900sp 772 haste?

We heard a lot about caps..

Even not accurate What would be the recommended "caps" for a warlock (afliction/Destro)on:

Hit Rating: as far as I know something about 440
Haste:
Crit : cap here is not necessary true

It seems as though you're trying to figure out what gear is better. The simple answer is to download rawr and plug in your character... or use the rawr3 beta hosted here on the EJ forums. A more complex answer would be that haste, crit and sp all scale together... and while the pecking order for all mage specs is generally sp>haste>crit, the exact levels of how much better each is than the other is highly dependent on what levels you're at with your current gear, and where you will be at with said upgrade.

Thus, rawr is really the best way to figure out exactly what would be best for your situation.

Edit: This is probably also the wrong thread for this type of question, as there's a thread specifically devoted to optimal item sets and gear choices.

I fully agree with that statement. His didn't seem to indicate that exactly. I have been looking through a lot of WoL data and see that as folks have gotten the heroic gear the ignite damage definitely seems to scale up faster than the fireball damage. I'm not sure exactly why/how that is, but it is interesting that like 200 more spellpower, 5% more crit and maybe 75 more haste (along with better trinkets that mine) are resulting in avg ignite ticks of 12-17k per, while the fireball damage is barely higher than what I currently see. Interesting numbers.

Just a quick question, im seeing alot of ret paladins using Agi polearms such as Heroic blood fall. What are your thoughts on that? Its just a general question. I've read on the updated for 3.3 that Agi isent the best stat to go for.

Theoretically it would be better to press DS (when it is higher priority) then an alternative, and in a perfect situation that is what you would do. Obviously you can't always react to the proc quick enough and it's better to be spamming and get something off then delaying the action because you were seeing if DS would proc.
Some people have taken to spaming the DS key along with their other attacks or using a mod that can register key-down independent of key-up and using that to trigger DS before certain abilities.

Basically, If DS is better you should hit it, but don't let indecision catch you being slow.

This sounds like the perfect thing to keep in the bathroom. I mean that in a good way. IE: not something you will curl up with by a fire for hours on end, but great for when you just want something entertaining to read. I think I will subscribe, thanks for the issue reviews!

Sooo, I have a question.

For Runeforges, it's suggested we go FC on the MH and RI on the OH for single target fights. My question is why not switch the two around? Razorice does have a tiny Necrosis-like effect so, tiny as the bonus may be, I think you could get a little boost in damage done from sticking it in the MH.

Unless there's some kind of penalty to PPM chances in the OH weapon that I'm missing.

I'm sure that question is answered in this thread, since that's the only place I would have learned the answer.

Razorice doesn't get hit with the offhand penalty, so it does the same necrosis damage in the offhand that it would do in the main. There's no gain to putting it in the main for that reason.

I guess that makes sense.

And it's actually a bit difficult to search the thread, given that it won't let me use 'MH' as a valid search term because a word needs to be more than 3 letters for it to get searched for.

Just wondering, in a mixture of 264/277 gear would it be better to use Cryptmaker hc or Bryntroll hc? The hit is all to use on cryptmaker as i would be gemming hit if using bryntroll, which is what i'm currently doing
