I don't really understand why so much leather (agil based gear) is BiS for us. I know that strength is supposed to be our most important stat, and you would think since blizzard made paladins able to wear plate, and since plate has no agil on it, that we as ret paladins are not supposed to wear agil based gear. yet rawr says agil based gear in some cases is better? why would blizzard do that? I mean I guess rawr doesn't lie, i don't doubt that these BiS lists are correct. it just baffles me.

i recently swapped out a strength cloak for agil cloak, and i had been using ashen band of endless might instead of vengeance for a long time and recently swapped to the agil ring as well. in the process i lost around 200 AP, but gained about 4% crit. i was under the impression that AP (strength) > crit in the order of ret pally stats ranking. yet somehow rawr supposedly shows a dps increase with the loss of strength and gain of crit?

I guess i'm not really asking much of a question here, just wondering if anyone else has thought about these things or if i'm crazy...

I couldn't find any answers through a search so hopefully I'm not just missing it.

I've got my first lvl 80 and so I'm still learning that there is so much more to wow than levelling (fun but complex). Using sites like maxdps.com and the like has helped me to get decent gear and my dps is usually top in PUGs but when I get into raid it's one of the lowest. I'm told I should be able to pull around 4k dps when I only get an average of 3k. I do the same rotation as is advised here and in other sites and was wondering if there is something else I am missing that is making my dps so much lower.

For those who don't know me, I've solod a lot of stuff. My main thread is a sticky in US forums (unable to update).

This thread was one of the reasons I started soloing (the main reason was hunter v world back in BC). I've been a silent observer of this thread probably since it's inception. Main reason I'm not more active is because this thread seems more geared towards 60 content and I was more interested in wrath content. Also, like this post, I'll most likely get in infraction for posting.

I think I probably solod most of what a hunter can solo by himself (ie, I never touched BWL since I couldn't get past first boss solo). There are probably a few bosses that other hunters have solod that I haven't yet. Most notibly I haven't solod certain wrath heroic bosses because another hunter already did and posted a video.

For now, I cannot update that thread (unfortunately) so if anyone wants help in anything I solod I'll check this thread more often. Post in this thread or PM me.

This isn't meant to be a selfish advertisement for my own thread to those who don't know it. But I do love soloing and I hope I can help more while I can.

Main reason posting here, if people don't know me, is that on the US main forums, it really does seem people are becoming bored with raiding content and perhaps looking at soloing achievements. I'm not sure ruby sanctum will hold people over until expansion.

Speaking of BiS, i just looked into profile used for the simcraft BiS and was a little surprized.For some reason it was using the belt from prof and boots from gunship instead of cloth belt from morrowgar and cloth boots from festergut, also not using a recless ametrine in the belt to get the +7sp bonus. Isnt it a bit odd?

It's largely based upon our high agility to crit conversion ratio, which is pretty much equal to the point of the dps difference between 1 point of crit and 1 point of agility being roughly .25-.5 dps roughly using comparative napkin math taken from the crit meta vs agility meta argument, also the attack power that naturally comes on the leather gear counters the majority of the strength on the plate gear, and in some cases enough for the critical % we get from the agility to overcome the loss of strength.

Blizzard could change the T9 set bonus to simply increase your spirit by a percentage. It would cover the mage armor and molten armor parts of the bonus without being game-changing.

I think Blizzard should be more careful about stomping exploits in ways that annoy 10x more players who never even used the exploit. The rogue weapon swap "fix" is hurting everyone (my weapon swap macro still doesn't work as reliably as Outfitter did before). The Molten Armor change will cause a lot of grief, if it goes live the way it is on the PTR.

We would need more in-depth information in order to give you a somewhat better answer, Spec? Rotation? Stats? But since I dont have any of that info my first guess is going to be that your not hit-capped...

Does that help? As for hit-capped.... a friend tried to explain that to me but I admit I didn't quite get it (I'm kinda slow when it comes to understanding the more complex side of things). Is there a site or a thread here that explains it and how to get it better in plain english?

You are hitcapped for arcane at least.
For bosses you basically need 17% hit. A typical arcane spec has 3/3 elemental precisions and 3/3 Arcane Focus so that lowers your needed hit to 11% ( or 289 hitrating ), in a raid where a shadow priest or balance druid is present you'll get an additional 3% hit. Lowering your needed hit to 8% ( or 210 hitrating ).

Your rotation looks good at least

An armory link would be nice to check your gear, possible upgrades, your spec and glyphs etc.

Just try to look around in the threads on this forum on how to improve, there's a lot of information so it might take a while but it's well worth your time if you're really looking to improve.

emeraldeye - you have any problems with latency or fps (first one more important)? And if yes you use any addons like Quartz to check this while spellcasting? And if also yes do you have done macro with /stopcasting for your key spells?

It might be a problem with your connection as well especially upload. But just please write this things so it could be confirmed or crossed out.

About your gear and others - i have a feeling that you are to low on haste but would rather someone else to confirm it. Also change Icy Veins glyph to Molten Armor one.

One. If there are other questions like Lightning Shield/Magma refreshes prior to expiration you can go to the "Enhsim Config" code block and look in the middle of the third clump of numbers. There is an area that looks like:

cast_fs_only_if_dots_left       1
cast_ls_only_if_charges_left    2
cast_magma_only_if_ticks_left   2

Alternatively you can take that config, load it up in Enhsim and navigate to the "Combat Parameters" tab and see all of the information there.

Well, ttyl, it seems you were right. I overestimated the damage I'd have to heal (and thus the difficulty of healing it).
