Not sure if anyone has taken a loot at the Ruby Sanctum loot, but those plate hit/crit boots are absolutely amazing even at 271. I think the plate BIS will change dramatically with the release of the Ruby Sanctum. Putting those heroic hit boots on there as well as the heroic crit/arp neck. I'll post back when i've got an updated heroic plate BIS.
I have a doubt about what weapons i should use, currently i have heroic cryptmaker, heroic bryntoll and shadow's edge, using cryptmaker on the main hand, what should i use in the off hand? Spreadsheet says SE but weapon dmg on bryntoll is higher.
You must be doing something wrong because a very quick look (and from my personal experience), Frost DKs are on top or at least top 3 in that fight. Main reason being our 12% more damage in execute range (Phase 2) and we're DKs so we can mitigate an enormous amount of magic damage that occurs in this phase that would normally kill other classes.
What I do at the moment to maximize damage but play it safe is during the last phase, I'll go behind every other ice tomb, where most classes have to go behind every one. I might even try to push it and go behind every third one.
Any other DKs have similar advice to add on to this? Hope this helps.
Interesting, do you have a link to your WoL so I can compare the data?
I think some folks are misguided about specs and dps output. Like say FFb vs Arc vs fire. Blizz has made all three specs with proper gemming, and gear to be very competitive against one another. A good mage already knows this and doesnt rely on only math to decide what spec they will be. A Good Mage understands the value of utlizing your strengths and weakness with each spec regarding each fight.
Simply put I run a cookie cutter arc with a few personal choices as well as a FFB I usu for some fights. Good Mages usually will swap specs per fight having gemmed gearsets and specs rdy to go in as little time as it takes to hit the activate these talents buttons.
Anyone doing Heroic Modes knows some fire specs will usually beat arc specs in some fights, whereas arc specs will usually beat fire spec on other fights. It's up to you to decide which fight is better suited for each spec. And also up to you if you have the ability to pull off running any spec at any moments notice and having your rotation down like the back of your hand.
I love to see ppl say how easy mages are to play when a little bit more goes into it to maintain the level of excellence displayed by the Mage Class in general.
we are about to focus on Lichking (10m) tonight, since we extended our ID and tryed bulding the perfect lineup for him.
Sadly i dont have any experience beyond p1 and watching videos, so id like to know from pallys who already downed him (heroic):
What spec would you choose (incl glyphs) if you were trying Arthas only ?
Eventually with a little briefing why.
Thanks for replies. It's clear, shamans are superior in portals, however we have 3 paladins and other shaman in portals. And they do ok. After analyzing the log and thanks to you, we have two problems: lich bolts and zombies exploding in raid.
I have made a macro to automatically focus liches if any present and second one to interrupt them. Will try to help with it. Not resto task, but if it will help out, why not
If I find myself in a situation where lava lash or fire nova is ready but I'm at, for example, 4 stacks of malestrom with stormstrike about to come off cooldown(<1 second), I often wait that extra half a second to see if malestrom procs then if not I hit SS as soon as it's ready. As you said it's hard to test, so I don't really have any evidence to prove that this is more dps.
Yesterday I've thought about a little trick to (extremely slightly ) increase our dps at the beginning of a fight:
Before the pull, equip [Idol of the Black Willow], cast a Rejuv and switch to your regular DPS idol. A free 256 additional SP at the pull...
I can't log to the game right now, but do you think it's reasonable to create a macro to do this during a fight? A macro to use while in movement?
/equip Idol of the Black Willow
/equip Idol of the Lunar Eclipse
/cast Moonkin form (not sure here...)
PS: Sorry if this had already been discussed...

- Relics: All buffs provided by relics (idols, librams, totems and
sigils) now share an exclusive category such that gaining a buff
from one of these items will remove all other buffs gained from
items in this category.
