I find Enrage can handle it fine, so just rotate Enrage and Barkskin for each one, saving cool-downs for bad things like Holy Pally getting picked up or something. That is with ~85k HP with Organ buff up and 44-45k armour.
Also remember if you're using Sindragosa trinket for stam you can use it for the initial shadow damage from the first part of Soul Reaper in combo with Enrage. The spell tool tip is partially confusing as it seems to work differently. The initial damage is partially resistible but the after 5 second burst shadow damage doesn't seem to be resistable (at least I never resisted the second part). Whether the first hit is shadow damage or the shadowflame type (takes lowest resist/armour) I'm not sure but higher resist definitely seems to affect it.
Few examples if anyone's interested, spoilered so as not to take up the whole page.
Just Barkskin (nice dodges though):

This one was on a bad try where healers were picked up and infested so I'd had to use lots of CDs early and had nothing up for this Soul Reaper. Even then the damage was manageable.

Regarding the festergut HC parse discussion several pages back:
Last week my guild killed him and I actually ended up doing around 13500 dps - way more than I'd ever do on normal, and 2100 dps above our other hunter, who usually is pretty close to my dps.
The parse is here: World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis
Looking at the parse I see that I got hit twice, and he got hit three times. I also got Hysteria from our DK tank twice while he did not. Neither of us took a hit by Malleable Goo. The entire fight we moved mostly by disengaging back and forth, we both tried to limit our movement. Though hysteria is quite powerful there is a large portion of dps lost by being targeted by the disorient effect.
We kind of stacked ranged and had out healers stand out as apparently the melee had a great challenge in avoiding the ooze.
My point is that the disorient uptime can make a large difference on how you rank on the dps ladder. I don't think you should really worry if RNG bites you on this, there's not much you can do, it's just stupid luck.

I am not sure, whether its better to gem for Haste or for Spellpower (or a mix of both). Same with trinket, i saw Hpallys with the Melee-Badge-Trinket due to the 153 haste. I preffered in the past HC Sliver of Pure Ice and another SP-Trinket (or sometimes the Int-Trinket for +599 SP on use with Averenging Wrath, 2PT10 and Heroism).
For this encounter I change my Specc to 51/5/15 for the 5% Crit, since Div Guardian is not really necessary in my opinion.
Any thougts? Or isnt it maybe not necessary to use an alternave gear / specc at all?

If you want to do insane HPS that makes your way to the WoL top, there's a lot to it than just switching some gear pieces; if you don't, then you're better off staying outside of the portals and letting shamans do the gathering. Holy palading do 14+k eHPS easily this way, very competitive with portal wanderers.

That there are lots of other thing to consider i am aware of. Normally I have something around 25+k eHPS (resulting in about 7.5-8.5mio healing total) in this fight - much like your Holy Pally Abbatt. The second heal inside the portals is our (only) shaman - we send only two heal inside in 25HC.
I'd like to shorten the fight time a bit, so my question is, which stat improves mathematically the output more, haste or spellpower.

Simple healing question : I only started playing my shaman at level 80 healing 3 weeks ago ( Mage before ). I like numbers So in recount, I follow only Healing done. My question is about the OverHealing information.
According to This thread, OH is only useful to analyse when you run OOM. What's your take on that ?

Obviously, they scale in relation to each other, but if what you want is just raw dummy thoughput, i'd guess SP is the stronger stat. As stated earlier in this thread though, you get "safer" throughput with haste.

Spec. choice
I have downloaded the warlock spreadsheet to help me plan out gear progression as well as make a more customized picture of my own stats. While doing this I have found results which fly in the face of the "conventional wisdom" that I have heard repeated. For my current gear, I have the following results (solo no raid buffs):
(Sangdraxx, Scarlet Crusade)
Demo: 5100's dps
Dest: 4600' dps
Affliction: 4400's dps
It should be said that I have some T-9 but haven't purchased any T-10 yet (part of why I was looking at the spread sheet). So what is odd here is that with my current gear, the spread sheet is telling me that both unbuffed, and fully raid buffed, deep demonology actualy does a significant amount of damage more than Dest (my current spec) and even affliction which is at the bottom right now.
So here lies my confusion. When people say that "affliction is the highest dps" does this only hold true with best in slot gear, and full raid buffs? I know a targeting dummy isn't the best test, but according to my current results, solo or fully buffed, Demonology would be better dps for me. If I set the spreadsheet to the pre-set gear, and give it a full set of buffs, the "conventional" Affliction = top dps holds true, with Demonology in 2nd. So I tend to believe the calculations are correct... and therefore I will switch to Demon. now for both the great buff AND an increase in personl DPS.
So what I am asking here is... can someone confirm for me that this isn't a bug or a miss calculation. Does it make sense that at a less than end game setup, Demonology can be the top personal DPS?

Thank you Vaccine. I forgot to mention the Sindragosa's Flawless Fang trick in my original post.
I had noticed that as well when we first started getting into phase two when an Aura Mastery (Shadow) was up from the previous Infest and I resisted about 1/5 of the damage.

I find that a huge % of my healing on Dreamwalker is done during the "Beacon Val, HL myself for massive glyph splash with wings, heroism, 2pt10, trinket" phase. During that phase heroism will have already dropped your cast time to 1 second so additional haste is not helping. Obviously haste is good for the rest of the fight, but due to the outrageous healing done during the heroism phase I would stack spellpower for Dreamwalker if you really are willing to regear. Clearly you want to get haste up to the point where your nonheroism cast time is 1.3 seconds though.

Arms Warrior - Does not stack with Wrecking Crew. Besides, they don't have strong Cooldowns to blow while Hysteria is up.
Death Knights - A significant portion of their damage is elemental and not physical. Dancing Rune Weapon scales only half with Hysteria, summon Gargoyle doesn't at all
Enhancer Shamans - A good portion of their damage is elemental. Feral spirit, their Cooldown, is not affected by Hysteria
Fury Warrior - Although all of their damage is physical, they cannot blow their big Cooldown Death Wish with Hysteria, because it doesn't stack.
Hunter - A good portion of their damage is elemental and their pet wouldn't benefit from Hysteria.
Retribution Paladins - A very big portion of their damage is elemental.
Rogues - A good portion of their damage is elemental.
Cats benefit by far the most from Hysteria. As long as you are quite close to the top DPS in your raid, try to convince your Blood-DK or your raidleader, that you should get Hysteria!
|
I must say I find the guide extremely useful as I move into the world of cat dps (so thank you for that)except for the part regarding Hysteria.
When you say Death Knights, I assume you're talking unholy. While yes, more of unholy damage is spell and a cat would benefit more from hysteria. But you're forgetting Blood / Frost specs which are still very common in raids. Frost and Blood specs can both benefit just as well as a cat if hysteria is used on them.
Personally I can't speak much for the other classes, but based on things I've heard about each class (paladins main strikes are physical, rogue auto attack counts for 40% of their damage etc) I strongly disagree with this portion.
Also, pets powers scale off the owner. Casting Hysteria on a DK before he pops DRW or Gargoyle will mean that the pet benefits. And casting it on the hunter causes the pets AP to scale according as well.
In the end, Hysteria should go on the #1 or #2 on the DPS charts, as I don't think cats are the best for it.

The buffs from [Libram of Three Truths] / [Libram of Valiance] do not disappear (but you're unable to gain a buff from another libram until the previous has run out) when you unequip them so I assumed it worked the same. If what you said were the case for all librams/sigils/idols, the recent change of making buffs received from them share a buff category would've been unnecessary - but thanks for the clarification.
