Speaking of decent gear levels (245 and higher), and without the legendary, Frost is superior in terms of single target DPS, while Unholy can pull ahead on AoE-heavy encounters, assuming both specs are played optimally. Blood falls behind both.

1. Every Livingbomb will give me an explosion, which will hit the Lichking.
2. Every livingbomb will certanly give me a hotstreakprocc(most likely).
I did math on it and it showed that with this method i would gain more damage on lichking because with my stats i basicly exchange 1 Fireball (i have exacktly 2secs casttime) with an livingbombexplosion(1sec) and an pyro(again 1 sec).
For me i will do 7.5k dmg more with this combo then with an fireball and will do additional dmg on ghuls, which is never bad ^^
The first problem i have with this is, that i cant realy calculate how my normal hotstreakproccs will change this outcome.
The second problem is, that i need a little time to cast pyro. So i tried it and i did only 2-3 livingboms on ghuls because i of overlapping hotstreakproccs.
If this would do more dmg, the benefit of it would dimish if your haste increases because of gcd
Can someone tell me about my idea? Maybe its totalrubbish maybe not.
ps. I did test it but because of rnd , i could not really tell differences.
pss. Sorry if my english is not perfect

Kwaice's Mage Leveling - Talents and Tips - (1-80) | World of Warcraft Pro is a basic no-nonsense guide to specs/spells to level - seems to be accurate enough - I'm almost through levelling one using this guide

So basically what you are saying , that its not worth downgrading items, even if they make u rather close to 1400 arp?
In my personal example, I did downgrade the cloak( winding sheet) to the emblem one, just because it helped me to hit the expertise cap and increase to the arp value i have (sitting at 1393 with food buff). However, from my impression from few pages of the forums, I noticed, that it is was not the smartest thing to do. Yes I do have the festergut or rotface ring (cant really remember the name) with exp and arp, which in my opinion would be greater downgrading from heroic might of the blight.
What I did notice from my sims is that from around 1350 arp, the value of str increases greatly. So what basically I am asking is : what would be the smartest way to keep highest dps, with least downgrading items?
here is my armory: The World of Warcraft Armory - Kofeinas @ Karazhan - Profile
And is it worth for me to lvl up engineering?
Thank you for ur help

Hey all. Sorry to interrupt any longstanding conversation but I just had a few questions on some craftables that I am considering. My mage's armory is here: The World of Warcraft Armory - Erk @ Deathwing - Profile As you can see my gear is crap (right around a 3.7k GS). I have no off-hand (I just scrapped a staff for that figuring it plus an off-hand was an upgrade).
I have acquired the mats for Merlin's Robe, Savior's Slippers and Cord of the White Dawn. The biggest upgrades are at my feet and my belt. I have 43 Frost emblems and 42 Triumph emblems.
My questions are:
-Is it worth getting these pieces crafted? Maybe only one or two of them? If they aren't worth it at all, should I sell the mats on the AH? Or perhaps should I get them crafted and attempt to sell the pieces on the AH?
-What would you recomend I get for my offhand?
-What do you think my priorities are right now for my badges. I just did my weekly so I'll have another weekly tomorrow when the server resets. So should I do my daily heroic, I will be up to 45 frost and probably 45-47 Triumph. I think I've done my VoA's for this week.
Thanks,
Erk/Jake
P.S. I know my spec sucks, I was using it for pvp and plan on respeccing arcane when I get home from work.

I've run quite a few sims recently making use of different sets and pretty well universally I found it most beneficial to run full 277 gearing (4/5 tier, using fleshrending gauntlets). Unfortunately, you lose some armor penetration on your cape and either your legs or your gloves. Sims I've run have still shown this to be a DPS increase.

....
Things have changed here. When reaching about 3300 spell power unbuffed, [Runed Cardinal Ruby] and [Reckless Ametrine] have nearly the same dps value, so filling those into red or yellow slots is always the right choice. Furthermore, you will need two [Purified Dreadstone]s to activate your meta gem. Breaking the socket color is now only useful if it is a blue socket, you already have activated your meta and the socket bonus is worth less than ~11 dps (per blue slot), which is equivalent to 6 spell power, 6 haste rating or 9 crit rating (spirit and intellect bonuses will never be high enough). Only in those cases you should break the socket color.
When your gear is way below 3300 spell power, this line shifts (spell power becomes more valuable compared to other stats) and you should break as many socket colors as reasonable to get more spell power.
Examples:
The heroic Mag'hari Chieftain's Staff has three blue sockets and a +9 spell power socket bonus. As this is only +3 spell power per socket, one should break the socket color. [Sanctified Dark Coven Leggings] has one blue socket and a +7 spellpower socket bonus. While it would have been reasonable to break both the blue and the yellow socket and use two [Runed Cardinal Ruby] into them before 3.3, this is no longer the case - From the current point of view, the best choice would be [Reckless Ametrine]+ [Purified Dreadstone]+7 spellpower.

I'm confused. According to the chart, I should be socketing as much haste as possible since I have 3 pieces of T10 gear and will have the 4th by this weekend. But according to the gem section, I should be socketing as much sp as possible since I'm not at 3300sp yet.
Here's my armory link: Ròidh
Can anyone clear this up for me?

yo this is bullcrap. im not buying microsoft office to see what you think my dps might be...but spreadsheets fail. hardcore.
Imageshack - saurfangdeeps.png
thats my dps i had this week on saurfang.
Imageshack - rawrfails.jpg
that was me doing a spreadsheet of my exact gear and buffs i had in that icc 25 including 20% buff which you can see checked off on the program.
i did 1368 more dps than the spreadsheet says is possible for my character.
i realize 13k dps is GARBAGE but.... my gear is exactly that, GARBAGE. somone else show me a warrior with marginally better dps with under 6k in game gearscore.
aslo i know im going to get crap for having pvp head and helm enchants but thats my choice. i will not do 50 chain quests just to talk to a retarded npc when i should be able to buy mats off the ah and pay an enchanter to do that for me.

Ahh. So while in equal amounts the haste may be more valuable, because in a gem I get more points of sp than haste. the sp gem is better. That never occurred to me. Thanks.
So if I'm understanding the math correctly, there's no time/scenario when I'd take a straight haste gem over a sp/haste gem or a sp/haste gem over a straight sp gem. Is that right?
I'm glad I asked about this stuff. I was ready to swap out most of my gems this weekend. That would've been an expensive mistake.

It's funny, because i tried it last night with zero luck... so you are probably correct and they just have a funny threat table, and it's not to do with Bladestorm at all.
As you were.

I am kind of curious. I'm relatively new to this forum, and I want some advice.
According to this site, Expertise is rated quite low on the stat priority scale. I have the opportunity to replace my Castle Breaker's Battleplate (chest) with a Tier 10.5 chest. In so doing, I could maintain my four-set bonus while allowing me to replace my T10.25 pants with the Legplates of Painful Death. The Team Robot simulator suggests that this would result in a DPS gain, but I am leery because this would drop my Expertise from 26 to 16. I've always proceeded under the assumption that I have to cap Hit Rating and Expertise, then follow the stat priority listed here on the site. Should I buy into what the simulator is telling me even though it runs against my gut reaction? I kind of want to dump the T10.25 legs because NONE of the BIS leg armor for death knights is the Tier gear....the BIS slots recommended here put the Tier gear on head, shoulders, chest, and gloves.
