When we fix a bug, you have to wait for a new version (unless you want to compile the source code yourself).

I was wondering about the armor pen cap for Marksmen Hunters. I have currently 691 armor pen and Im getting the trinket soon. Just wonder as I heard from other hunters that 533 is the top need for armor pen? Or if I should contiune to gem my armor pen past this point to all of my gear.

This thread has been exponentially more useful than I had originally thought, but I want to make sure I completely understand some of the latest.

I'm having an issue right now of having pretty solid gear, a good rotation (taken from this site) but still not producing good enough dps. My unbuffed tests on the practice dummies in Org are yielding about 3600 dps.

Now from what I've read lately, you guys are saying to leave Mind Blast out of the rotation? So just make sure DoTs are up and then use Mind Flay for the rest of the time?

I was reading the current beta updates on raid buffs/debuffs in Cataclysm and noticed that the Crypt Fever debuff will still be confined to one specc only. Actually it does not even appear in some of the debuff lists, so off the radar is it.

Since for shadow priests this debuff on single targets can be a DPS increase between 4% and 5% (according to my own spreadsheet) it would be nice to have it spread out a little amongst speccs as well. The shadow priest itself would - in my opinion - be a perfectly suitable candidate to provide an equivalent debuff.

Unfortunately I play on a European server and so am unable to even make my opinion heard on the official US Forums (which as far as I know is the place to post for the highets though probably still miniscule chance of getting a positive response). So maybe one of you playing on a US server who shares my point of view could take up the task?

Im raiding 25 man icc hc, and my dps on the paladin fights ( the few ones that favors the sov mechanics) goes from
12.5-13.6k dps with the 25% icc dmg buff.

I am using SHIT fcfs addon and my prio is either judge-ds-cs-how-cons-exo or i prioritize ds-judge-cs-how-cons-exo.

I am wondering am i pulling the max out of my gear ? i know some paladins that have slightly better gear but manage upwads of 14k on fester and saurfang...
What am i doing wrong ?

Just recently I've been experimenting with playing an off-DPS role, healing when the raid needs it, and doing a little DPS the rest of the time. It's mostly a change of mindset for me, I haven't changed specs.

But so far it's helped out, we have a thrid healer for damage intensive phases, and a little extra DPS the rest of the time. I'm always at the bottom of the DPS charts, at about 30-50% of the next lowest real DPS because I'm still paying attention to raid health first and dps second, but it seems to be a useful role so far. We could probably min-max the raid composition and trade a little versatility for some more DPS, but this has let us run with some slightly wierd raid make ups.

From my experience so far I'm feeling pretty confident that with the Cataclysm changes Blizzard will be able to make this role work, and it would really help towards their goal of "bring the player, not the class."

I am like the absolute opposite of a rogue or even math's expert so with the danger of polluting this thread I was having the following thoughts...

Regarding combatspecc people always refer to the danger of "critcapping" when using daggers or fist especially in combination with CQC talentpoints.

Could this not actually work in the favor of combo point generation and therefore energy management in a hemo combo building rotation and HaT combo point generation? I know poison application and renewal might still keep a specc like Sub "sub-optimal" (easy pun), but with Hemo as go-to pointgenerator this build uses the cheapest and therefore fastest (energywise) combopoint generating ability.

Ahh well, i know people here have probably already delved into this and simulated the heck out of it... but am looking forward to seeing how it holds up myself once my gearing on my rogue reaches the level where my gear can 'transcend' the standard build and leave more freedom for experimenting.

The Armor Penetration hardcap is 1400 (100%).
The softcap is dependent on which ArP proc trinket you have in your possession which would result in a 100% ArP when procced:
- Mjolnir Runestone (Thorim 10HM) -> 665 ArP proc -> Softcap = 735
- Grim Toll (Naxx 25man) -> 612 ArP proc -> Softcap = 788
- Needle-Encrusted Scorpion (Devourer of Souls - FoS HC) -> 678 ArP proc -> Softcap = 722

You should first work on getting to the softcap for whichever trinket you get hold of. Afterwards, work on getting around 800-900 ArP without any ArP gemming. Only when you are around there should you start re-gemming all your gear to ArP gems to get as close as possible to 1400. Anything below 1200 really isn't worth it and above 1300 is where you will see the biggest benefits.
