This illustrates my point, though. We keep using terms like "focus starved" without having a clear picture of what we think that means, or how much focus we're getting. Suppose that focus from steady doesn't scale, or that it's only 2-3 at 80. That's not a huge "loss" that comes from not being able to cast it.
As a larger point, "starved" is such a relative term that it's not helpful in most of the contexts we use it. If your "rotation" is special-steady-steady-special-steady-dump-special-steady-steady-cooldown-special-dump-dump, does that indicate being starved? If you don't have enough focus to do what you're "supposed" to do, then that's starvation, but we're assuming that what we're supposed to do now is intended to mirror what we do now.
Aspect of the Hawk:
The hunter takes on the aspects of a hawk, increasing ranged attack power by XXX and causes you to generate 9 Focus when your Steady Shot or Cobra Shot abilities deal damage. Only one Aspect can be active at a time.
Base regen 6 focus/s; Cobra/Steady shots regen is 9/1.5=6 focus/s.
By using cobra/steady shots we double our focus regen.
To me its not about my personal protection I'm fairly safe and the fact that there is actually someone who is not only wikipediable but Wikipedia actually has MULTIPLE historic figures with that name (But that is more EXTREME luck of being born into a family that gives my paticular first name to every first born son). However whats unsafe for one person to me is one person too many
Was just curious about using two haste trinkets. Heroic DFO and regular scale from Ruby Sanctum instead of using heroic DFO and phylactery or heroic muradins (I remember reading that NMIC gets beaten out marginally by trinkets just mentioned--still true?)
I made a wowhead profiler outlining both trinkets with some of the heroic gear I have access to (non heroic sindra, put, princes.)
So, reading the gemming part, I'm kind of split in half when gemming my wrists.
I've got the Polar Bear Claw Bracers and have the gem slots filled with 2 Bold Cardinal Ruby's(the 2ed socket obviously coming from being a blacksmith), but is this a situation where you put a 10str/10crit gem in the yellow slot? Or would I benefit more with the 2 Bold Cardinals?
So tonight after punching some new gear into the spreadsheet to figure out my best possible set up, I saw the new one was available, I downloaded it and went from ~12.6k dps to ~11.8k with the same buffs, and exact same load up from the armory, I'm confused as to why using the more updated version of the spreadsheet would drop me ~1k theoretical dps, again, same raid buffs selected, same food/flask and same exact gear, loaded from wowarmory. Anyone else notice this?
I'm having the same problem. Using the exact same gear imported from armory on both versions, my stats are the same. The only difference is that on the 2.603 sheat my Crit SEP is way higher than on the new 2.603a. HS Bug is enabled on both sheets. I thought the bug put a new theoretical "cap" at 80% crit?
New Disc priest, dropped my Shadow spec for it which is a little bittersweet. Quick question though on gearing, in some places I've seen people saying that dps gear is better for a disc priest due to certain stats and because, supposedly, spirit isn't all that great.
However in some places I've seen that spirit is fine, not all that great, but not a terrible thing to have on gear. So before I go and spend a bunch of frost emblems and gold on gear I want to be sure. Is my Holy gear good to Disc heal in? (Granted it needs re-gemming) or should I use my Shadow gear and pick up more of it?
So i have been raiding surv since wotlk launch and have maintained high end dps constantly. Now that my hunter alt is in enough icc, icc heroic, and togc gear i feel that the transition over to arp MM is right for me. I recently blew 1 or 2k on arp gems n such getting arp capped and my dps dropped by 2 or 3k
I don't know if its just b/c i'm used to surv or if i dont quite understand what i'm doing with my MM rotation. I'm properly geared, specd, enchanted, etc so it's not as if i'm asking how to do the basics but here is my rotation and some things about my toon so that the general population can get an idea of what i'm working with. My pet is a wolf, i'm the cookie cutter 7/xx/7 build with armor pen cap, and i follow several top hunter's advice on how to properly use a MM rotation. I took arcane shot out of my rotation for non mobile combat and here is the priority system i'm doing so far
1. Serpent Sting (Opener)
2. Chimera Shot (Silencing Shot macrod in b/c its off gcd)
3. Aimed Shot / Multi Shot if multiple mobs (Silencing Shot macrod in b/c its off gcd)
4. Steady Shot spam
(Kill Command tossed into rotation when CS / AS are on cd right b4 i start SS spamming)
I also make sure that I am tracking the proper mob before hand so that I can gain the 5% damage increased from survival talents.
I'm truly at a loss for ideas to increase my dps. Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated.
Reading through the post was very helpfull thank you.
I have a quick question concerning the sub spec, unholy is slowly gaining popularity as a tanking build for its aoe ability, so would sub specing into blood be profitable in helping towards single target?
Is Frost looking any good as DPS?I'm pretty unsure about DKs, since all the buffs in the DK trees are non-unique (imp windfury is 20% haste like imp icy talons, spriest have the healy spell (forget the name), affli locks get imp CoElements which is just like ebon plaguebringer). So I guess it all comes down to which buffs/debuffs stack and which don't. Also, is 2H Frost just dumb?
Frost in general is more a dual wield spec, but depending on how you sub spec a frost 2h is possible. I'll run a few tests on builds and rotations to give a clearer answer.
Has anyone run the numbers to see how the Halion Pen trinket matches to H DBW? Also, what if you ran H DBW and the Heroic Halion Pen Trink. Do they share the same hidden CD, or is it like running H DBW and H WFS, in which they both can proc together?
