modify for wyvern as needed and voila. on alot of my keybinds i have not only shift but alt and sometimes control mods as well. pve macro thread on ej is win.
Alternatively, to clean this up, you can use :

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@focus,exists][] Scatter Shot;

The same can be said done for Wyvern Sting, if you like. Just replace "Scatter Shot" with "Wyvern Sting".

You can change the "shift" in the macro to any modifier you want, either "alt" or "ctrl". Don't hold down a modifier and it'll automatically Scatter Shot your target.

How do you all feel about the Scourge Strike Glyph especially in builds with Reaping?

I'm so torn on my Glyphs. I am having a hard time committing to single target or AOE when it comes to Glyphs. I may end up just using my dual spec to switch back and forth.

I just like to check with you guys whether we use the cbb addon for bosses (SoCorruption/Vengence) only or we do use it for trash as well (SoCom) for more dps..Thanks

hey sorry this might be a little off topic of what you are all talking about. I am newly Dk frost Dk, just recently hit 80 about a week ago. Although i very happy with my current gear and my dps in icc. I am at 5.3k gs and hitting about 9.1k-9.4k DPS in icc 25m, and about 7.9-8.5k in ICC 10m. my rotation Is currently IS>PS>OB>BS>FS>. after that i just keep spamming OB and BS until KM or rime procs and refresh my disease when needed, is that the correct way of dpsing as a frost dk? of course i have heard that there is not really a rotation for frost DK. I also outburst about 10-11k at the starts of fight. As of right now i am just stacking str gems, and putting 10+ str + cri into yellow socket to the str bonus. I plan on geming all my items armor pen soon is this a good idea? how do I maintain a 10k+ Dps in raids? is there any suggestions of improving my DPS?

My frost Dk is named Ghulmok. Also have a questions about the 10+str+10 cri gems, wouldn't it be better to get the 10+ str + haste rather than cri? Thanks in advance, trying my best to read every single post that everyone is making but its really hard because these stuff seem very confusing, and i am very surprising that you all know what youre talking about meaning you are a experienced frost DK and know what you are talking about.

Hit Cap/Gear

Hi,
I need some advice regarding my gear and how to upgrade it from here.
This is what I have The World of Warcraft Armory - Corimini @ Ghostlands - Profile so far. I also have a Herkuml War Token and a Needle Encrusted Scorpion in the bank.
My problem is that if I swap the Mark of Supremacy I go about 48 under hit cap. First, is this as big an issue as I fear it may be or will the extra damage outweigh the misses? (Note that I am not exp capped either but I don't mind that in isolation - or should I?).
Next is the question of what gear to buy next with EoF. The only item that gives extra hit is (are?) the Lightsworn Gauntlets but these aren't bis (even after sanctification) and, in the short term, they are a downgrade. My guild is at 6/12 ICC10 normal and I pick up the odd ICC25 group.
I will be grateful for any advice people can offer in this regard.
Cheers.
Corimini.

Am I the only one who think that Inquisition and our mastery is nearly the same? Both give +holy damage, and thats not fun for me.

In addition Blizz killed conviction (old vengeance), which was defining the ret class and looked really great. I hope they change our mastery, replace with conviction (and its effect).

Old Days were better

"Utility" was the great concept. Everyone had a roll. Warrior's were there for crushing blows, mages for CC, warlocks for CC, priests for CC, etc., as well as buffs and debuffs they each brought. And, oh yea, the dps. Now everything is about powering through instances. blah blah blah. Blizz needs to get back to the "everyone has a role" thinking. Raid makeup has boiled down to "how many tanks, heals, melee and how many ranged we need", with very little concern for having a class/spec mix. I miss the days in Kara, where priests were shackling, locks enslaving and banishing, etc.. And a bear tank was needed for the guy on the left that polymorphed other tanks before Gruul. I'd like to see Blizz make raids/5-mans, more about things besides personal dps races. Blizz, give us back purpose!

Just my opinion, of course.

Yes, I know this is a mage forum. My point relates to utility and the function of the mage in raids and instance runs that others are discussing and things that make being a mage interesting, but my point crosses class/spec boundaries.

So.... orc DK tank or troll DK tank. Which do I go for? Thinking about doing a race change.

Seems to me that the expertise & attack buffs for orcs (I'm thinking the unholy off-spec here) outweigh the berserking & regeneration bonuses that would accrue for a troll tank.

Inquisition is a CD for holy damage and synergizes well with our Mastery by increasing a unique type of damage.

In fact, it's very similar to conviction compared to avenging wrath, with the only difference being that they affect all damage.

An increase to Holy damage is more "fun" than an increase to all damage, because it affects different abilities differently.

Conviction was not even close to being a defining ability of the paladin class, there are far more defining abilities than a percentage damage increase passive.

Logix,
I like your thought process:

How about this ( I posted the same thing on the WOW forums)

Also an idea that I have been kicking around is this:
Make a Hybrid Mage spec ( a 4th Choice for Mages- Hybrid ) viable by making the trees cappable at 27 or 28 points.
Drop three last 3 or 4 points in your main tree, make your last Point in the tree available at 27th or 28th talent point, so you can have a Hybrid 28/13/0 or a 0/13/28 Spec, etc.
They could make it so you can only use talents from 2 trees as a Hybrid or make it wide open as far as choices. As of now Hybrid Mages are dead, so this would revive the Hybrid and encourage the use of more than just 2 or 3 spells in the Rotation.
This Hybrid option would give Frost a much better chance to take advantage of it's new Frostburn effect, This would also allow the players who Focus on only PVE or PVP choices to maximize those talents and skip the talents which have no real meaning to them.
I am sure it would really be a positive factor in the Cataclysm Mage choices.

They tried that (sort of) with FFB.

I don't want to regurgitate GC, but one spec is always going to outperform the others, and all the "theme", fun talents, synergy, etc. etc. isn't going to mean a thing. This is especially true for anyone reading these forums, and this thread. Maybe some guy currently putzing around in pugs or in a friends and family 10 man might decide "I like X spec better", but here on EJ they will be judged by the impassionate eye of excel and recount, and "theme of the tree" be damned. I think Blizz trying to make all 3 trees of all 4 pure DPS classes equal is an unachievable goal, but more power to them if they get it.

They can make a more or less complex rotation, that's about it. Every complaint about arcane that I've seen so far is "the rotation is boring" or some variation of that, and "is this rotation fun" is subjective. Personally, I think feral druid or enh shaman is stupid. YMMV.

Worrying about "theme" is sort of subjective and not worth the headache. Different people will see different "themes" anyway. Worrying about arcane AoE and whether they get their own personalized orb version is sort of pointless as well. AoE is almost meaningless now, and I suspect will become more so in Cata. What will determine what mages that read this forum wind up speccing will be the allmighty excel.

Good morning all. I'm confused and decided to ask for some help regarding some gearing. Here is a link to my current armory:

The World of Warcraft Armory - Raiderjim @ Ursin - Profile

I was going through the spreadsheet laying out my gear needs and saw that the Darkmoon Card of Greatness was better than the Tiny Abomination in a Jar and the Herioc Njorndar Bone Bow is better than my Death's Head Crossbow. The problem is when I equip those two items my hit drops to 200 and my ARP drops to 1350. I regemmed in the spreadsheet to bring those numbers back up and it actually dropped my dps close to my current numbers. I decided to test drive it and found that even without the Bone Bow socketed I still put out about 600 more dps with my hit at 200 and ARP at 1350. I did notice about a 300 point increase in my Attack Power and 100 points overall damage.
Is there a point where Attack Power compensates for the lack of hit and ArP? Am I not understanding the numbers correctly? with my current gear I'm at 269 hit and 1402 ArP and everything that I've read says 8% is the hit cap and 100% ArP is the target.
